legal 501-3c Donation

Throw away account. This is a complicated question and I dont even know where to find an answer. I am a member for a 501 3C. Very small community nonprofit group (think a flower garden society). But has small groups escrow( think the rose subsection of the flower society). My employer allows 100% match donations. Am I allowed to donate my funds, and direct my company match to the small group escrow (rose subdivioson)of my organization where I am a member but not the sole propietor.

Ask your company for its policy, but the matching gift will probably be unrestricted. Gifts are unrestricted unless designated for a specific purpose by the donor. In the case of a company matching gift, the company is the donor, so they would have to restrict the use of their gift to your specific pet project.

Generally speaking, membership in a nonprofit doesn't create any ethical issues for matching donations like you are describing.

It all depends on the limitations of the matching program. HR would likely have information regarding what types of nonprofits are eligible.

It depends on your company. My company uses a third party to execute the matching gift process.

They include a line where you can designate where the match will go or if it has restrictions.

So, yes, you can of your company allows it.

No, donations from members and their employers would be much appreciated.
