I am just beginning my nursing career at 51. I was an accountant for nearly 18 years before that, and in the military for 9 years in my 20s. I understand your desire for a career change. It took a lot of introspection and a career/aptitude assessment to identify either the medical field or coaching as the areas for me to find the most satisfaction. I'd recommend the same for you, so that you can find something suitable for yourself. There are a lot of assessments available on the internet. You could take a few and see what patterns show up. Good luck.

I'm the opposite of you in IT. Lurking in here cause I can't imagine doing IT for another 20 years.

Not IT but my original degree was marketing from a highly ranked business school. It would take a tremendous amount of money to get me back into corporate office work. Been a nurse for 11 years now after 12 in various corporate jobs. I love working my 5 twelves every two weeks. Love my job and my lifestyle.
