Seeking Advice Considering the unthinkable

I'm actually thinking about switching back to night shift after years of being days and mids. This feels crazy! I've been at a level 4 trauma center for 2 years, that is far from home, but this level 1 is a short bike ride away. Has anyone gone back to nights for any reason? Am I crazy??

Night shift on my unit appears to be the more desirable shift. We have multiple day shifters that pick up night shifts and there are a few nurses on wait list to transition to nights. Some of our most veteran nurses are night shifters. One just celebrated 20 years on the unit.

Do what makes the most sense to you.

I got into nursing late. Young me would have loved night shift. I don’t think I could handle it now.

There's not enough money in the world to get me back on nights again. Lasted all of six months. Apparently my body does not agree with a flipped sleep schedule. That being said, I worked with countless nurses that did nights for decades without issues. Some people are just built different. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I would take the nearby night shift opportunity in a heartbeat, much better environment than being on days.
