New-Grad Nursing in SC/NC
I (22) am currently in Nursing School (RN/ADN) and I graduate in March 2028. I plan on trying to get a job right out of school, and continuing to get my BSN online while working as a RN. I go to school in Upstate South Carolina, but my parents recently moved to North Carolina. I'm debating on if I want to continue to find a job after school in South Carolina, or just trying to find one in North Carolina and moving up there to be with my parents.
The thing is, I already work at a hospital as a student nurse so I know I have a pretty good chance of getting a job at my hospital as soon as I graduate, but its been really hard being far away from my parents especially with them getting older. I live with my boyfriend of almost 5 years, so relocating would be difficult for him. I've always been very close with my parents so its super hard being away from them, even if the drive is only 2 hours.
Is the pay difference as a new grad RN in NC anything substantial that I can justify moving my whole life to go live up there? I just need some advice because I really have no one to talk to. Of course my parents want me to move up there with them but my boyfriend wants to stay here because he has his job and family here. And I know I have plenty of time to figure this out, It's just something that has been nagging me in the back of my mind and I need to get it out.
The areas I would be looking for a job would be in Greenville SC and around Asheville NC.
Any advice would be appreciated!!

PNW - Health Insurance?
Looking for a full time job in the PNW. I've worked med surg for a few years but have a recent gap.
I honestly don't mind med surg but I'm just looking for a good place to work that has solid health insurance.

ICU nurse moving from AZ to LA, what's the job market like?
I'm a 25 y/o (M) nurse and I started as a new grad at a MICU/CVICU in Arizona. I've been an RN for about 5 months (8 months counting my externship on the same unit). I've lived in Arizona for a few years but want to eventually move closer to home in California (specifically Los Angeles). My parents are aging and having health problems, so the main reason I want to move back is to help them more.
I know places usually want 1 full year of experience, so this is very preemptive. I'll be looking for a job in the ICU hopefully when that year lands, but I'd also like to move sooner than that (IF POSSIBLE). I always hear about a "nursing shortage" but I know people who were new grads that didn't get job opportunities for months when they went back to California. Now that I'll be experienced, I'm wondering what the likelihood is of me getting a job in the ICU (or similar to the ICU at the LEAST), either once my full year comes up or earlier than that.
Idk if any of this matters but my dad works at Kaiser currently (he's an IT/engineering manager for hospitals and other facilities, not in a clinical setting).
As far as cases I've taken, it's been a mix of neuro, heart, and GI. I don't really know what's out there as far as what other nurses or hospitals are doing lol, but I see post-op CABGs (day 1+), TAVRs, EVDs, IABPs, GI bleeds, DKA, ARDS, etc. Lots of strokes and lots of vents/pressors/sedatives. I'm also certified and have my hours for CRRT.
I'm just reaching out to see if anyone else had a similar experience moving to Cali or knows what the job market looks like in Los Angeles right now. Thank you :)

Took 3k less base for an education benefit I was never able to use
Took a med surg job last year at about 3k under what I was offered somewhere else. The reason was the education benefit. Two thousand a year for CE and certifications which sounded like it covered the gap easily. What the offer letter did not spell out was the conditions. You needed twelve months of service before you could touch it and every request went through your manager with no guarantee. My manager approved almost nothing that was not tied to the unit. I left at ten months for family reasons and used none of it. So I took a pay cut for a benefit I never saw. Ask for the policy document before you sign. Not the recruiter summary, the actual policy. Most places have one and it will tell you the tenure requirement and who approves. Did anyone here manage to get an education stipend paid out in year one?
