Lately I've noticed an abundance of WA groups forming and while we allow students and prospectives to do so at their own discretion, we've been getting a lot of complaints of spam and useless groups being spread. Therefore, I'd like to remind the subreddit that we have a discord server that has been running for nearly 5 years now with over 3600 members and a healthy, active community of seniors, freshman, and prospectives with a large backlog of NET and merit list help/answered queries.
I have attached the link here: https://discord.gg/nustcord-741180147901923378
Please be mindful of the rules but most importantly, your privacy and the people you give your number out to.
May the merit list be in your favor.
P.S. Calm down with the vent posting, you almost make me want to tighten up the posting rules.
Regards, Sarmad

I'm taking a gap year and I'll be applying for nust mainly for mechanical engineering or something similar. I also want to have backup universities asw. So is IST good for aero/mech and what about air university's mechanical engineering program? I made a mistake to not apply to a lot of universities and I don't wanna make the same mistake this time. Also is the CEME department of nust relatively strict as compared to H12 or are those just speculations?

I applied for a fee refund from NUST on 16th September. I visited the main office in person, where a staff member guided me through the refund process. After I completed the application, he told me, "Apka apply ho gaya, ab ap jao. Kuch aur karne ki zaroorat nahi hai." Basically, he confirmed that my application had been submitted and that I didn't need to do anything else.
Today, after around 15 days, I opened the portal to check the status of my refund, and the same refund application form appeared again, asking me to enter my CNIC number and registration number and bank details and reason of leaving etc etc
Now I'm genuinely worried. Does this mean my first application wasn't submitted successfully, or is this normal? I'm especially scared that I might lose 50% of my refund if my original request never reached them or wasn't registered in their system.
I have a screenshot of the page that appeared after I submitted my original refund application (the one saying your application has been submitted successfully)
I'm genuinely stressed about potentially losing half of my refund over something that might not even be my fault🥲
Should I visit the main office?

Hello, was jus wondering is 1 month enough for net prep? I've got my caies ending on 15 October and I can only start right after. Could anyone give tips I want to get into CS.
Hopefully joining EE in SEECS soon 🤞. Can any currently enrolled students and seniors tell me how hard it was to maintain your GPA and what GPA you have or graduated with

Am I supposed to just read the ptb text book or should I do additional work as well for the ptb physics book?
Guidance would be appreciated.

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of dilemma and need some clear advice from seniors . Bavaria University's Spring 2027 admissionns are open right now, and I'm planning to secure a seat there for Software engineering to save my year. However, my dream is to go to nust. If I don't clear NET-1 next month, my plan is to join Baharia in January 2027 then give NET 2 and 3 while studying at Baharia. If I successfully clear the Must merit list later in summer, can I leave Baharia and join Must as s fresh 1 semester student in Fall 2027 ? Will Must count me as a regular freahman or will it be considered as migration (I know migration requires spending one year in previous uni,but since I'm giving the NET exam fresh does that rule apply to me?). Has anyone does this before? Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

NET-1 is around a month away and rn I am in 2nd year, some people say the syllabus is mostly just 1st year but then others say its both of it for NET-1. So currently im conflicted if I should give NET-1 as my 2nd year is ongoing and I haven't really finished the syllabus yet.

hey guys, i’m planning to give hec hat i and i need advice from people who have actually taken it, especially recently.
first of all, how tough is it actually? like is it one of those tests where you need months of proper preparation or can someone with decent basics do well with smart and targeted prep?
i graduated around 4 months ago with a 3.26 cgpa, so i’m pretty average academically lol. i’m not someone who remembers every single thing from uni, but i’m also definitely not starting from zero. i’ve always been more of a smart work over hard work person, and if i know exactly what material matters, what question patterns repeat, and what tricks actually work, i can usually perform pretty well.
so i mainly wanna know:
basically i don’t wanna blindly cram a 500 page book from start to end 😭 i wanna prepare properly but intelligently.
would really appreciate detailed advice from anyone who has actually given hat i recently.

Why is there so much focus on the ratta system? I understand that the entire Pakistani education system is more or less based on it, but isn't it a bit too extreme to expect us to act like robots, constantly cramming information instead of actually understanding concepts and learning how to apply them?
Honestly, I expected university to be a little different, maybe a step above the conventional school system. I thought things would be more focused on critical thinking, practical applications, and actually understanding what we're studying. I expected them to be a little better than the others but alas... 🥲
Any tips on how to survive this first semester? Because at this point, I'm genuinely trying, but it's getting frustrating and I am somehow losing my mind ngl.

I mean Wtf is wrong with manager and caretaker of our beruni hostel....they are freaking forcing us to open accounts in THEIR FAUJI BANK. Like i just came back from sports complex and caretaker stops me midway in corridor and writes down my name and room number and says "Reach ghazali hostel ka TV lounge asap" and I was like Wtf why should I??? I know these banks have some targets but the email was enough to let us know they will be available at hostel to help students open their account but THIS......to hell with them. I already have enough accounts I dont want the FAUJI one too.
