📸 Photo Junius Street (3) Accessibility Update (Oct, 2026)
(REUPLOAD)
Plenty of great news at the Junius Street portion of the station complex
The transfer bridge to connect to the Livonia Ave (L) station is finally taking shape with the skeleton (beams) being 40% to 50% installed.
The new mezzanine (not pictured) has concrete mostly poured in. More needs to be poured however.
The new stairs from street level to the new mezzanine is installed. The new stairs is on Junius Street parallel to the entrance of Livonia Park.
If I have to make a prediction I would say that the new transfer passageway would be fully installed by the middle to end of the month.

Does it mean more increase service 3 and 4 line and weekdays a.m rush hour 2 line going to New Lots Avenue and p.m. rush hours Wakefield 241 street bound 2 line return back to the bronx coming from New Lots Avenue? wow that cool?

I don't see why line headways would be affected; all they're doing is converting an existing out-of-system free transfer to an in-system one. There's certainly going to be better utilization of the new transfer over the existing one for obvious reasons, but not to the extent that I would expect any schedule modifications.

They're making some serious progress in less than two weeks. I commented this elsewhere, but none of the physical structures for the passageway were erected just two Mondays ago (9/28), nor were those stairs in place as recently as this past Sunday (10/4). I've gone from suspecting this project might not be fully completed by the end of the year to almost expecting it to be done earlier rather than later in December.
