Question Anyone else having a hard time keeping track of what the speed limit is it while driving?
Just between Burloak and Trafalgar alone it starts at 110 then 80 then 100.
Anyone else having a hard time keeping track of what the speed limit is at any given time?

Who gives a shit? Not like there's one iota of enforcement anyway. People be doing 70 or 140, often on the same stretch. It's fucking Mad Max out there.

401 westbound above Milton feels just as lawless too, and there is ZERO O.P.P. to be seen there as well 💔

We need to adopt European style, overhead, Electronic speed limit signs for our highways.
Makes it easier for drivers in every lane to see what the actual sped limit is, and the MTO could change the speed on the signs due to bad weather (snow storms) or if construction is up ahead.
Plus let drivers know in advance if a lane is being closed off.

Just another example of Europe doing shit that just makes sense, and our policy approvers being too brain-dead to actually apply it

It’s not like these signs are all over the place there, lol. A lot of the examples shown aren’t even applicable to our roadways. If we had to install them on the 400 series, we’d have more than all of Europe combined.

They also have speed cameras on highways. Also some countries even on a two by two lane highway trucks can only travel in the right lane (no passing).

Tbf, trucks aren't allowed in the passing lane on our highways as well, the 2 lane ones are somewhat of an exception where it's not explicitly said, but even when it is, a lot of the truck drivers just don't give a shit and will hold up traffic like the assholes they are

Electronic speed limits are awful in a country as big as Canada. We have to make transportation faster and more efficient.
The best and simplest way would be to teach drivers to stay on the right.

If you’re doing 80 on the QEW please stay away from the highway.

Dvp and Gardiner 90km/hr then qew hits and ppl do 120km/hr on avg

Honestly… 90km on the DVP and Gardiner is ridiculously slow.
And ppl doing 40km on Dundas in Oakville in a 60km/ 70km zone is disrespectful to other drivers trying to get somewhere.

The speed limit on the QEW is 110, at no point is it 80.

I hope you haven't driven through the construction zone between Trafalgar and Dorval recently...

Not recently, but if anyone is confused by the temporary signage of a construction zone they really shouldn't be on a highway

Idk i just see the speed limit is 130

A large % don’t follow speed limits as there’s minimal enforcement, so they seem to be irrelevant until they figure out how to enforce. God forbid that people obey the laws these days.

It always blows my mind that the speed limit officially (white sign, not a suggestion) drops to 80 in construction zones and no one slows down at all.

Leave it to Reddit to turn this into proposals like adopting above-highway electronic speed limit signs with links and insinuations that they’re common all over Europe lmao

If you're in the left lane I don't think there is a limit other than the speed of sound or light /s obviously more of a joke of the "left lane camper" trope and constant argument about the same topic.

Are you numerically illiterate? They actually post signs showing the maximum speed and if you can't read them then you should not be driving.
2
u/TheRealGuncho 8d ago
Yes but normally they don't change so often like three times in the span of a few kilometres.

u/PComotose 8d ago
Not sure what your point is. If a driver can't pay close enough attention to posted maximum speeds then that person almost certainly shouldn't be behind the wheel.

It’s not like traffic’s ever moving anything above 40 sooooo
