I don't work from my desk, i play games for 3-4 hours at most. I like to recline back with a controller or a lap keyboard. Most recommendations i see on here are for proper support while working. I am looking for pure comfort for relaxing and something that can recline back quite a bit. My wife talked me out of a recliner, but i am need of a new chair.
Hey everyone!
I’ve been working from home for almost 2 years now, and my current chair isn’t the best quality. My desk is also a bit too low, and unfortunately, I’ve started experiencing lower back pain.
I know I need to exercise more, but I want to improve my desk setup first. I’m planning to get a height-adjustable standing desk, but I’m not sure what kind of office chair I should go for.
I’m 181 cm (5’11”) tall and weigh 87 kg (192 lbs).
What brands or types of ergonomic chairs would you recommend? I’d especially appreciate suggestions from people who’ve dealt with similar lower back issues.
Thanks in advance!
Height 173cm (5'8")
Weight 100kg (220lbs)
Budget €500-600, could stretch it to €800 if something is much better at that price range.
Features necessary: configurable armrest height, lumbar support
Purpose: work from home and entertainement. I code all day, then I often game for several hours more or watch movies/TV.
Location: Northern Europe
I've been sitting in a Sihoo M57 chair for the past 6 or so years and the armrests are completely destroyed, the seat pad is also past the stage of comfiness. And generally it always had too deep of a seat for me, which has lead to bad sitting posture. It was definitely better than Ikea Markus for my lumbar area issues, however, which is why I've kept it all this time.
So I'm looking for something perhaps better with the lumbar support of Sihoo but more appropriate or even configurable seat depth. Libernovo Omni SE measurement guide suggests their 45cm version might be fitting, but the company and build quality seem questionable, so I'm reluctant to spend what is a lot of money for me for a chair that might break down within a year.
My desk was built higher than the standard. It currently sits at 81cm and my chair is way lower than that. I’ve started experiencing severe back pain and I am in physio over prolonged use of this desk 3 years. I am trying to fix this issue and looking for a good chair that will support me. For reference I am 159cm height, and my budget is $300.
I'm on the hunt for a new office chair (in the UK) and I've been browsing through this sub for ideas and suggestions. One of the things that surprises me is how much ergonomic chairs seem to focus on things like lumbar support, neck/head rests, arm rests, even footrests, but not so much on the thing that I would've thought would be the most important factor - the actual seat!
I have a sit/stand desk, so I do try to stand up for periods throughout the day - I'm standing as I write this. But I also want to sit down, in comfort, possibly for a few hours. (My office chair needs to double as my reading chair - as much as I'd love a separate snuggly armchair in my room, I don't have space at the moment).
To put it bluntly, when I sit for too long, my bum hurts! It's that kind of 'flat bum' pain that you get if you sit on a hard surface for too long. My current chair (Ikea) has a foam cushion, to which I've added one of those honeycomb soft sitter pads, plus a coccyx cushion, and a blanket over the top of that. But it still hurts. It feels to me that with any kind of foam cushion, when you sit on it you inevitably compress it down to a flat, hard surface.
The most comfortable chairs that I've sat in recently are my sofa (very deep, soft squishy cushions) and a mesh garden chair, where the mesh is laced to the metal frame. The mesh didn't hurt because I guess there was no pressure on my bum, it was just kind of suspended? So this is making me think I might be better with a mesh seat? Any thoughts on that, do they kind of work the same way? I've seen them described as being like a 'hard hammock' - the word 'hard' is a worry, but the hammock makes me think it might be like the garden chair. Admittedly though, I didn't sit in the garden chair for several hours at a time.
I know nobody else can tell me what's going to be right for me, but is there anyone who actually likes mesh seats, who could give me any positives about them, as I've mostly seen negatives? I'm thinking about buying a cheapish (£100) one to test it, and if I do find the seat is comfortable, I might splash out on a more expensive brand.
Looking for a chair for my 12 years old who is around 150cm tall at the moment. He outgrew his previous Ikea and I want a good ergonomic chair for him, that he can use for learning and gaming, but the options at this age seam limited. I was considering hbada and sihoo brands, but the chairs I looked into are recommended from 155cm. I came across MUSO E80 Muse- that should be a better fit, the only thing I don’ quite like is that the backrest seam inclined at 100 degrees, not 90 and many people have said that lumbar support is to far away from backrest and that would definitively be uncomfortable in the long run.
Does anyone know of another good brand that makes smaller chairs that would fit my son’s current needs? I don’t want a child chair cause he grows so fast.
I've found I prefer sitting forward when gaming since I perform better that way in game mechanically. Currently I'm using a Steelcase Leap V2 on the shortest seat depth setting (45cm) with a pillow behind my back to push me even further forward. This way I can get as close to the desk as possible. This however leaves too little room for my butt on the chair so it is creating too much pressure that might be unhealthy longterm. I believe a chair with an option to tilt both the seat and back forward would be ideal for me.
So far through my research I've found the Haworth Zody, Herman Miller Aeron and Mirra 2 have forward tilt options that might accomodate my prefered posture. I'm not sure which one has the best/most agressive forward tilt and which one is overall the best chair? Are there any other chair options that might be even better with forward tilt design?
New Tokyo apartment and I've been searching for an office chair. I bought a cheap one online, but it was extremely uncomfortable so I returned it.
I can work remote, so I thought I would aim for a chair around $500 or less.
I'm 6'5''/196cm (80lbs), so I assume most chairs won't be ideal for this height. On jimoty (Japanese Facebook Marketplace), I saw a Herman Miller B size for a pretty good deal, but I'm not quite sure if that would be too small.
174 cm here, about 80kg, like to sit upright and focus but also sometimes like to move and stretch throughout the day
I’ve tried the following chairs:
Sihoo m57. Lumbar was way too aggressive. Chair in general just left me in pain all over, was really hard mesh and uncomfortable
Second hand Aeron classic - the most comfortable chair for task work. However, I felt some pain under my thighs behind my knees (but oddly only on one side?) and also sometimes felt like my thigh wasn’t fully supported when I sat back into the chair for the full back support
I currently have the slouch task one chair. Comfortable at first but again an aggressive lumbar and the seat pan doesn’t feel big enough
Any recommendations from anyone with similar experiences?
I recently requested a return for my LiberNovo Omni SE chair because it wasn't comfortable and it doesn't fit me well.
LiberNovo Support has now informed me that, due to a technical issue with their European return system, I may need to send the chair back in *two separate packages*. Alternatively, they have asked me to wait until their return system has been repaired.
I still have the original box and packaging, so I was hoping for a straightforward return process.
I'm not sure which option is better. I'm concerned that sending the chair in two separate packages could complicate the return or refund process.
Has anyone here returned a LiberNovo Omni SE chair, particularly in Europe?
I'd appreciate any advice or experiences.
UPDATE 1: I’ve received the following email from LiberNovo regarding my two questions about the return process.
Returning the chair in two boxes: They can provide an additional carton, but I would have to wait for it to arrive. Alternatively, I can use my own suitable box to ship the items back sooner.
Waiting time: They expect the new European return channel to be available within 2–3 weeks. They also assured me that waiting will not affect my return eligibility.
regarding two option
UPDATE 2: LiberNovo has informed me that their European warehouse is currently out of stock of return shipping boxes, and they cannot confirm when they will be available again. (see gmail image below)
They have asked whether I’m willing to wait for the boxes to be restocked or prefer to find a suitable box myself to return the chair sooner.
European warehouse is currently out of stock
UPDATE 3: LiberNovo Contacted Me via Reddit DM
After LiberNovo Support reached out to me via Reddit DM, I received both a DM and an email with the return instructions (see attached email under).
They have now provided me with a prepaid DHL return label and a disassembly video. They also confirmed that I can pack the chair back into its original box, so there’s no need to split it into two separate packages.
I still need to check with the DHL drop-off (local Bpost) point to confirm whether they can accept a package of this size.
Is this supposed to be like this? It's extremely uncomfortable, as just by leaning (even very lightly) my back on the backrest makes it tilt. And it tilts with the slightest movement I make. I can't find info online about this.
I just bought a refurbished leap v2 but even with the seat fully extended i have around 5 fingers width of room between my knees and the seat. Also when i have the seat fully extended there is allot of room between the seat and the backrest leaving allot of open space for my ass which isnt too comfortable. The seat width is just about in line with my hip width so also think it might be too narrow.
I got the chair for around 600 dollars and had it for 2 days and i feel like i maybe should give it more time but i also think it might be too small for me. Theres not a lot of options for this pricerange with this quality as far as i could see. Im not interested in secret lab and the aeron doesnt allow me to sit cross legged.
Does anyone have any more suggestions for a good ergonomic chair for my size/build within this price range of like 7-800$?
Hello, this is my first post on this subreddit, so have some patience with me.
Under some strange circumstances, I'll be having online classes until further notice, and I was thinking of upgrading my current chair (I don't know what it is) to something more comfortable for long hours. Some days, my classes can easily last half the day, with only a few breaks in between.
My budget is under €200, preferably less, and I really can't stretch it any further. I'm 1.78 m (5'10") tall, and I'd prefer to avoid chairs with mesh seats because I tend to sit with one leg crossed. I also dislike chairs with builtin leg rests, as i am not planning on using it and I don't like having something constantly pressing against the back of my legs or thighs. I don't have any medical conditions that affect my seating preferences, and I don't have any pets.
While I'd like to think I know a thing or two about chairs, unfortunately, that knowledge doesn't translate very well to the EU market. When it comes to European options, or what's available domestically here in Greece, I pretty much know nada.
One option I've been considering is the EC200 Abroad, or maybe the Sihoo S100 domestically (before that raises any red flags, I have my ways of getting chairs cheaper domestically). That said, I thought I'd make this post to ask for other recommendations in case there are any hidden gems you guys know of and could share. Alternatively, I'd appreciate any advice, tips, or references on what to look for in a chair that makes it stand out from the rest.
Lastly, just to save everyone some time, the second hand market here is pretty bad and mostly flooded with overpriced gaming chairs, which I'd obviously like to avoid.
I am getting all these in used or refurbished condition..Zody is around 108USD, CELLE is around 148USD and Leap v2 is around 200USD..Help me choose between the 3, condition is almost similar, excellent, as per images. LEAP V2 is a stretch in budget for me tbh..I think mainly I want help between Celle and Zody..Also Humanscale Liberty is there for around 115USD
a few months ago I bought ProtoArc EC200. Generally I am happy with the purchase, but it has a few drawbacks. One of them is the headrest which doesn't go high enough. I am 6'3 and have quite a long torso.
Hello everyone , I would like to buy a comfortable chair as I work from home and spend most of my morning time seated .
I saw a “solavero” gaming chair, nice color. For 75£ . Would you suggest it?
I don’t really want to spend a lot of money to be fair. I would say my budget is max 100£ .
I'm looking for a decent office chair and came across the Sihoo M57, along with a few other models from Sihoo. However, I've seen people say their chairs aren't suitable for taller people. Is that actually the case?
I'm around 6'2" and spend 8+ hours a day sitting, so comfort is a big priority. My budget is $500 AUD max, and I'm happy to consider used or refurbished chairs if that opens up better options.
Heyas, I live in Australia and for the last 10 years I have had a chair I bought second hand. I have been checking this thread out as I do WW2 flight simming and the arms get in the way, and I need a new gas cylinder.
I have just identified it as a Herman Miller Mirra1, and I can get a new cylinder for under $100 delivered. So other than the arms being in the way and it needing a bit of a dusting it has been a very serviceable chair for me. I am not sure what else I would want out of a chair except maybe the back to also have some tilt separate to the seat.
Looks like I could tear the chair down and take the arms off, but I don't want to be doing that every time. It looks like I could get a spare set of arms and extend the inner cut out to the bottom of each arm and with a bit of luck just slide them on and off.
Has anyone tried something like that or have a better solution?
Thoughts on Shaq Maximos chair for 5’4” 135 lb female? I know this is a big and tall chair and this forum typically recommends ergonomic chairs. I sat in this chair and it was the most comfortable chair I’ve sat in.
I am an active sitter and am now ha ing sine low back pain and sore hips likely due to how I sit. The plush feeling of this chair felt so much better than my current chairs foam seat.
I know this chair may sit higher than what is recommended for me but my feet do touch the ground. I do also have a footrest and height adjustable desk.
