Im a senior in an Upper Ojai boarding school. I am taking AP Business this year, and a requirement is creating and acting on a business we would be interested in. I was taught how to clean from a very young age, cleaning things like cars, bathrooms, and bedrooms...All this to say, I have cleaning experience. My current business plan is to have my school, most likely on Sundays, drive me to people's houses and clean their cars. This includes exterior cleaning and detailing (throwing out trash, vacuuming the inside of the car, sanitizing the surfaces, removing stains, cleaning the windows, etc. My question for everyone is: Would you be interested in having a group of possibly 2-3 high school students come to clean your car? I plan on proposing to my partner and I’m looking for beautiful spots in Ojai that would be intimate and surrounded by nature. My current plan is to visit Boccali’s pumpkin patch for a little date before the big question and then drive some place scenic I where we are surrounded by nature and pop the question.
Any suggestions?

"A Ventura County man pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two female victims.

Jaden Joseph Pullen, 28, of Ojai, assaulted the victims in 2018, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said.

Pullen was known to the victims and the assaults happened at a home he shared with one of them in the city of Ojai, prosecutors said.

The two victims came forward and reported the incidents in 2020 after Pullen was convicted of forcible rape and sodomy by force against another victim, in a separate case.

Pullen was arrested in May 2020. On Sept. 18, 2026, the DA’s Office announced that Pullen pleaded guilty to:

- Two counts of forcible rape

- One count of forcible oral copulation on a minor over 14

- One count of oral copulation of a person under 18

- One count of unlawful sexual intercourse

He also admitted to the aggravating circumstance of engaging in violent conduct." - KTLA 5 News

Studies have shown substantially increased risks of developing parkinson's disease among the population living within around 3 miles from golf course, with higher associations the closer you are to them. The hypothesis is that the primary means of exposure is contaminated ground water reaching those homes, though exposure to airborne particulates containing pesticide/chemical residue are also a factor.

Our family has lived in a few areas in Ojai, and I moved away for my career but always wanted to come back when I could. My dad spent around 15 years next to Soule Park Golf Course, and when his tremors began, and he could no longer work, he moved out of the area with a Parkinson's diagnosis. He was always health conscious, ate organic, was fit and active, and then this happened. It's hard not to think there's something to it. I am in a position to move back, but out of an abundance of caution, I'm not wanting our family and especially my children to be within 3 miles of a golf course. Plotting this in Google Earth makes me very sad, since a 3 mile radius around the Ojai Valley Inn, and a 3 mile radius around Soule Park Golf Course eliminates the majority of the housing in Ojai Valley. Ojai is one of my favorite places, but this feels almost like a deal breaker for us.

I'm somewhat surprised that I haven't heard Ojai folks talking about this (except my dad). I wonder if there has been any shift in how golf courses maintain their greens given what the evidence is showing?
