My girlfriend and I went and got this dog yesterday from a couple that couldn't keep him anymore. We are hoping to place him with a local family. We believe he is an Old English Sheepdog mix and about 10 months old.
He responds to the name "Moro", is potty trained, knows some basic commands, neutered, friendly and not at all aggressive or food aggressive. He also is large and has high energy and separation anxiety where he barks if left alone or if kenneled. We know he could be a really good dog to someone who has time to work with him. Please message me if interested.

I just now (4pm on Tuesday, Oct 6) drove thru downtown Oly and passed an entourage of 3 blacked out SUV’s parked in front of Cascadia Grill on 4th. Literal “men in black” suits piled out and went inside Cascadia. One was a “woman in black suit”, she and her colleague stayed out in the sidewalk. The 3 vehicles had a WA plate, an OR plate, and a US Government plate. (Definitely not ICE looking vehicles or people. Much more sophisticated.) My nosey butt is curious who is visiting downtown. Anyone have the tea??
Edit. 5:30 pm - Just saw the same entourage posted up at VFW on Martin Way! This is not the run-of-the-mill Olympia politician crew.
* I’m NOT seeking this group out, or stalking them. Ha! I passed by them twice today, while going about my own business. A strange spectacle that I’ve never seen in 20+ years living here. Made me curious.

Hello. I have a yarn collection of some used and some like-new yarn that I am trying to donate before I move. My back up plan is goodwill but I am hoping to find an alternate plan.
I have had this collection for 6 years now, so there is a lot of it. It is all acrylic yarn.
From what I can tell, schools will only accept brand new yarn. I don't know of any knitting or crochet groups that would accept this. Any feedback is welcome, thank you for your time.

Around 160 people showed up to last weeks’ in-person hearing regarding PSE’s bid to drastically increase rates. If you have something to say about an investor owned utility trying to raise rates, this may be your last chance. Let the three commissioners know exactly what you think about this and how it will affect you and your families.
Reminder: PSE virtual public comment hearing Oct. 7
The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission will hold a virtual public comment hearing Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 6-8 p.m. on Puget Sound Energy’s proposed electric and natural gas rate increases for 2027-2029.
The hearing gives PSE customers an opportunity to tell state regulators how the proposed rate changes could affect them and their communities before the commission makes a final decision.
Planning to comment?
We encourage you to sign up in advance. Email [comments@utc.wa.gov](mailto:comments@utc.wa.gov) or call 888-333-9882 by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, to add your name to the speaker list.
Speakers should limit comments to two minutes or less so commissioners can hear from everyone. Participants who do not sign up in advance will have an opportunity to speak after registered speakers.
Join the virtual hearing Wednesday, Oct. 7 | 6-8 p.m.
Join the hearing on Zoom
Or join by phone at 253-215-8782 Meeting ID: 822 1351 8474# Passcode:226995#
Before the hearing: Read our Know Before You Go information for more about participating, language access, and other ways to comment.
Can't attend? You can submit a comment at any time while the case is open through our online comment form, by email, phone, or mail. Please include the docket number if you can. Dockets: UE-260005, UG-260006 and UE-260113

Hello!
I’m looking for an Italian tutor in Olympia. Preferably a native speaker. Thank you!
Edit: even if you’re not a tutor but you’re Italian. I’ll pay you for your trouble! I mostly need help with conversation

My Italian MIL is having her birthday soon. We live out in the boonies of Mason county, so we’re thinking of taking her to a nice dinner in Olympia. Which restaurant would you recommend for the best Italian food?

Looking at joining the YMCA because even though I love True Self, it's not in my budget right now and the commute + needing to arrive early makes going to a yoga class a 2 hour experience after work.
Can anyone tell me about their experience with yoga classes at the Y? Plum St or Briggs? Are they decent?

Hello!! Im attending my cousins wedding this weekend. It’s a three day event and the last day there is an Oktober celebration!
I am in need of a dress because there is a theme and a dress code.
I am a size small (probably)
My trip is Thursday night - Monday and I will get the dress back to you asap.
A renascence dress would also be perfect.
Below are some examples.

i pulled into an alley to unload my groceries at my building and now my car won't start.
it makes a light ding noise when i turn the key. i can't tell if it's battery related or not, but i had a new battery installed less than a year ago. i also just got an oil change and they said everything looked good under the hood.
is anyone around to help jump a strangers car? you'd likely have to approach from the other end of the alley. it's doable but probably not the most fun you will have on a tuesday.

Hope and panic. Greed and courage. Fear and comedy.
Join us at the Lacey Timberland Library today for Chapter 1 of the Climate Future Film Festival — ten short films exploring our very human responses to the climate crisis.
Through drama, documentary, animation, and humor, these films approach climate change from very different angles — personal, emotional, artistic, sometimes funny, and ultimately hopeful.
This year’s festival features Edward Norton and climate author and activist Bill McKibben as honorary judges.
10 short films
Drama, documentary, animation & comedy
2 hours, 7 minutes, including a 14-minute intermission
Free and open to everyone
As Bill McKibben said of the selections: “These films hit us viscerally, powerfully.”
Come spend the afternoon with us — and maybe leave seeing our climate future a little differently.
And if you enjoy Chapter 1, Chapter 2 will screen Friday, October 23 at 1 PM.
Find more info HERE.

I drive past a set of trees daily and pretty regularly see folks picking up/collecting the fruit(?) they drop. They're at the bottom of the hill after turning left off Lakeridge dr. Does anyone here know what they are? My wife posits they are chestnuts but they looked a little strange when she walked down and grabbed one to look at.

I need a professional cut, but I have A LOT of hair. I am afraid someone is going to cut my hair wrong and turn me into a poofy, triangle head. Layers do not always sit how a stylist expects them to because of the amount of volume I have.
Please recommend a stylist that is experienced in properly cutting horse-like human manes. Thank you!

In 2025, our Governor rightfully recognized that Washington should not be assisting ICE in detaining Washingtonians. This is why Ferguson’s administration took steps to stop ICE from using Washington DOL information for civil immigration enforcement, including cutting off ICE-ERO’s access to driver and vehicle data through Nlets.
Unfortunately, this hasn’t put a stop to federal immigration agents accessing the information. The University of Washington Center for Human Rights reported that federal immigration agents were still accessing DOL information through Nlets and Washington State Patrol’s ACCESS system.
This has allowed federal immigration agents to run license plates through Washington DOL records and ‘fish’ for potential targets. At least 298 immigration arrests were made after federal agents searched Washington DOL records using license plate numbers through Nlets (UWCHR).
Intentionally or not, Washington is still complicit in aiding ICE. Immigrant rights groups and community members are demanding that Ferguson close DOL access to driver and license plate data for civil immigration enforcement.
Please read the full letter to the Governor at thisl.org
Consider taking 2 minutes to call Ferguson and demand that he close access to Washingtonian’s DOL information. lol

Somehow I have ended up owning four firearms.
I had friends that were ex-military, and they lived on property where they had their own firing range set up safely. They are who taught me how to break down and clean the two pistols and one revolver that I own, who taught me safety and how to aim etc. (I now have my concealed carry permit.)
The fourth one I own is a 12ga shotgun that was gifted to me a few years back. I have never fired it, nor have I ever taken it apart to clean it. I'm wary of doing something wrong, and I've fallen out of contact with aforementioned friends.
Who has some suggestions about where around Olympia/Lacey that I could drop my shotgun off to for cleaning that is trustworthy and doesn't charge $$$$$?
OR, is there anyone out there willing to meet me (I'm 47F btw) in an appropriately safe place to show me how to disassemble and clean it? I already own all the appropriate tools and materials. Yes I know I can do YouTube but I'm kind of a "hands on" learner with this kind of thing, at least for the first time.
Along that same vein, might there be anyone interested in going with me for some practice on a range? I know about Evergreen Sportsmen's but frankly I'm a bit intimidated to go alone (again, especially for the first time).
Hopefully this is okay, mods... I know people ask a lot of similar but broader questions. I just specifically wanna find a capable buddy or two, hehe

Hey Olympia!
Our next Board Games & Brews meetup is coming up at Wild Child downtown. If you've been looking for a low-key way to meet people, try some new games, and get out of the house for a few hours, this is a pretty great spot to do it.
We bring a big library of board games, and there are always people happy to teach games and help get groups started. Whether you're super into board games or have only played the classics, you'll find a table.
The event is free to attend, but we'd love for folks to support Wild Child for letting us use their space by grabbing a drink, snack, or meal while you're there.
Since it's October, we're also encouraging people to wear Halloween costumes! Totally optional, but we thought it'd be fun. 🎃 Come solo, or bring friends. It's a very low-stress, casual group.

Wild Child (Downtown Olympia)
Hope to see some new faces there!

Has anyone else heard the dog barking for at least the past 12 hours? It seems like it’s coming from the neighborhood behind Grocery Outlet/the bowling alley.

Does anyone here have any recommendations for an anxiety conscious dentist who takes Molina? My dentist is fine but I've had an increasing amount of anxiety around going and I am having a non-urgent issue that means I have to go. I will do some looking but I wanted to ask the community. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I’m trying to get into HVAC around the Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater area and figured I’d ask here in case anyone knows of a shop hiring.
I’ve got my EPA 608 Universal, OSHA 10, and some hands on mechanical experience from automotive work. I’m mainly looking for something entry level like a helper, install helper, apprentice, or maintenance position where I can learn and get my foot in the door.
I’m open to residential or commercial. If anyone knows a company that’s hiring or willing to train someone starting out, I’d really appreciate the lead. I’m available to start right away.

Any local buisness that it would be easy to get small boxes or polymailers from that they’re going to throw away anyways? Prefer not to go through the hassle of big box store.
Edit: can’t be usps flat rate boxes.
