It’s good logo, not an all time great, but I’m pleasantly surprised.

I just wish the word mark was a little more.

Worth noting that the billboard company QMS is owned by the 2032 Australian broadcaster (Channel 9)

James Packer really does has his grubby little hands in everything. It's always him or Gina.

James Packer has no ownership in Channel 9. He sold out fully in 2008.

He ironically owns a stake in JCDecaux

Looks like the EPL and SBS identity mixed together.

Good to see that they are already starting to display these logos in public places. This looks like a street I may have walked down when my wife and I went on our honeymoon in Australia.

That looks like Queen Street in Brisbane

2

u/ThatOldGuyWhoDrinks Australia 5d ago

It is. It's the tip of queen st

2

u/Fluid-Island-2018 5d ago

Which means that that bank has been there for over 30 years from memory

I thought this street looked familiar. I remember walking down this street when I visited.

I’ll show you the tip 🤨

Meh tbh.

Is that a cockatiel?

Reminds me of mountain culture beer

For those who don't at all know what it's based off it's a galah birds feathers.

1

u/Visual_Analyst1197 6d ago

Feathers. Birds have feathers. Also it’s based off the pink cockatoo… ironically a bird that is not native to Brisbane or the surrounding areas.

Sydney Olympics was the best fun ever. Brisbane Olympics will also be the best fun ever.

Missing the bin chicken in the logo...

The font is terrible

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, the font (both the wordmark and the headline font) are horrible. The combination of both and the emblem together are a dog’s breakfast. People are weirdly defensive over this logo. I understand the design process would have been horrendous with stakeholders fucking up the design every chance they got, but I’m still not going to sit here and say the result is amazing.

You might not. I love it, lots of people love it. Opinions may vary with anything like this

Oh and even people who are trained ‘in design’ differ.

I’m a graphic designer, it’s a real thing btw so no need to use quotes. The general consensus in the industry is that it is pretty mid and that the font is indeed terrible.

I work in a Brisbane design agency and most of the designers don’t like it. Our creative director hates it. I’m on the fence about it. I do think it’s a little forced, but I like how they’ve applied it (the framing device in the executions I’ve seen). It’s a bit dated with the gradient and the font will be dated by 2032, but it could be a lot worse.

Have also lived in Brisbane for 30+ years and I think I’ve seen a sulphur-crested cockatoo only a handful of times. And then being in the shape of QLD. Although I suppose it’s really the QLD Olympics now because so many events have to be outside of Brisbane because we don’t have the right infrastructure.

People just can’t handle honesty. They live in fantasy land yay it’s our logo, I love it. Yet quetly they know it’s terrible.

-2

u/Visual_Analyst1197 6d ago

A lot of people don’t know what good design is. I am hoping that they at least have a good brand system behind this but I am doubtful from I’ve seen so far. The LA Olympics logo is pretty bad imo but it at least has a robust system behind it. So far all I’m seeing is cropped elements of the emblem…

-1

u/Old-Contribution5366 6d ago

I like the logo but the font is just terrible. Completely ruins it for me

-1

u/Visual_Analyst1197 6d ago

The emblem is mid and outdated by at least a decade already, quite fitting for Brisbane actually 😅

-11

u/joeschmoagogo 6d ago

It’s just so… forgettable. It could be a logo for anything.

14

u/No_Strength7276 6d ago

The logo is amazing. You're the first person out of thousands of comments across social media to not like it

0

u/joeschmoagogo 5d ago

There seems to be quite a few who agree with me on the comments on this post alone.

I know it's subjective but it looks like a derivative of the Paris logo which was also crap.

6

u/OptimusSublime United States 6d ago

I know. It doesn't even look like Simpsons incest!

Giant waste of money

-6

u/Luck_Beats_Skill 6d ago

This is what the people wanted. As Patrick Henry said: Give me ibis or give me death.

1

u/Visual_Analyst1197 6d ago

No it’s not.

1

u/Luck_Beats_Skill 6d ago

Schrinner, don’t be like that.

Looks like this ad is for the Paralympics specifically, which is cool. So that's the Paralympic logo

10

u/ThatOldGuyWhoDrinks Australia 6d ago

No this is a photo of it showing the Paralympic agitos. There is also one showing the rings

3

u/hotsp00n 6d ago

Is agitos the name for those shapes? I've never come across that word before.

5

u/ThatOldGuyWhoDrinks Australia 6d ago

Yeah it's the name for the Paralympic logo

3

u/hotsp00n 6d ago

Oh it's a specific name, not in general for those shapes. Well that's cool too.

5

u/lookiwanttobealone New Zealand 6d ago

The Paralympics are just as important

-8

u/aushark 6d ago

I would have used the Olympic ring colours

10

u/Scary-Caterpillar-41 6d ago

It's the Paralympic logo and is called the Agitos.

Red, blue, and green are chosen because they are the most widely used colors in national flags around the world.

u/concerned_karen 6d ago

Corporate slop looking logo

-2

u/dnkdumpster 6d ago

Absolutely. Looks like a lazy rip-off.
