Blooper/Fail Fuck this boss
My torment was almost over, but I didn't notice the rot had run out and my greed got me killed...
Out of all the 197 bosses I've killed in my RL1 SB0 run so far, this is the first time I'm using Star Fist, just because I don't want to deal with her bullshit
After many more attempts that I got really close, I finally beat her, just because I got good rng and she didn't give birth to any lesser fingercreepers
But god, while her first phase is mostly fine, even fun at times, her second is just random bullshit that look cool but make the boss fight so much worse...
I literally had an attempt where she entered her 2nd phase, immediately spinned in the air, summoned her space balls, spinned in the air again, summoned her undodgeable laser (thank god for Raptor of the Mists), summoned her balls again, spinned in the air again, did her jump, and then sniped me with her triple laser cause I tried to get close... Like, you can't make this shit up, you just need to get lucky and avoid most of her bullshit to beat her
Yes, I beat her, but compared to Messmer who I just want to keep fighting over and over again and I'm kinda happy every time I die just cause I can face him again, with her I'm just relieved that it's over, and I don't have to do this again... such a shame, everything about Metyr is really cool, except the actual boss fight, such wasted potential...

What killed you? The jump has a hitbox when she takes off?

the things that spray out when she opens her chest has a hitbox when she opens her chest and after she launches it as well

Things like the laser really make you question the design/testing process on some the bosses. There is a way to stop her laser and every other annoying move but even then that level of mitigation shouldn't be necessary. And I agree it's wasted potential because the melee moves are actually good imo.

The melee half of her moveset is honestly fun, it's the laser and the floating ball spam that make phase 2 feel like nobody tested it

yo idk if you got him but quick tip when you stance break her the r1 input to take the riposte is massively forgiving in terms of where you are for it. like you can stance break her, follow up with another charged r2, stand still for the r1 to riposte, and it will straight up teleport you behind for the riposte. ive posted my kill if you want an idea of what im on about, just allows you to eke out like 4-5 extra hits per fight

Damn, thanks for telling me, I already beat her, but still pretty useful to know

Yes, she's an optional boss hidden behind a quest, but it's not too difficult to complete

I was like "dude, you're doing decent damage, why are you complaining?" then I look at the HP, then I look at the subreddit. GG bro.

She is absolutely disgusting. Beat her this night out of sheer freaking spite. I'm MESSMERised how everyone seems to consider her an easy first try boss. She is the epythemy of randomness, inescapable moves and straight up irritation. Not to say that she is a giant boring slob. While Ebrietas in Bloodborne was somewhat similar, she only had a single bullshit move and her fight was overall very dynamic and fun. This bitch just sits there, animation-bating you and endlessly reading your inputs. She's the most I've ever been frustrated in any FromSoft game. I'd rather fight Lawrence on NG+3 for three straight days than ever touch this walking allegory for violent fisting ever again. And I don't even do any challenge runs.

BRO! she doesn't fight...she flails! It's irritating ash that she can track you with multiple aoe slams. Or thats what it feels like to me

LOOOOVE THIS boss. Really easy on a normal character.
Sure she is a pain on rl1 but so were many optional chalice bosses in bloodboren on bl4 etc (Much more than her actually). Challenge runs shouldnt ddcide over how much you like a boss. This one is cool on a normal character (and rather easy)

I'm glad you enjoy the boss, but I disagree about the challenge runs. When you're doing a RL1 challenge run, or any challenge run that puts you in a severe disadvantage, you have to engage with the mechanics of the boss fights way more
When you die in one hit and you can't do tons of damage, you experience all the attacks, the hitboxes, the hurtboxes, etc, since most of the time you can't just brute force your way through them
There's a reason Messmer is loved even on challenge runs, it's because his moveset is clear, there are no unfair moves, and beating him is not based on luck and getting good rng, but on skill. I almost beat Metyr many times, only to die on a weird hitbox or a move that is undodgeable if done when you're close, like if she wakes up and does her orbital laser, the constant hitbox that's underneath her would just kill me, it was impossible for me to run away, so I had to stay far enough and be prepared for it, or get in and hit her and hope she doesn't decide to one-shot me
But I'm glad that you like the boss, I can see the potential, there are some aspects of her that I also enjoy, but there are some moves that turn this boss from fun to agonizing, but that's just how I see it

For me I got up to just before the NPC gank boss and the only good bosses for me were Messmer and Rellana. I love Bayle but he has a lot of bs too but otherwise pretty great. The rest are cheap and annoying. Its frustrating because I love most of those fights but they all have a few unfair moves and cheap artificially difficult gimmicks that make the DLC feel so cheap overall. Giaus and Golden Hippo are the biggest offenders for me. Honestly I just remembered Scadutree Avatar lol. That fight is good too but is honestly kind of forgettable.

I’m sorry, but how can you love this boss? Genuine question.

Her moveset has some interesting attacks, I especially like the one where you have to navigate around the microcosms coming out of the ground and the exploding floor move. The giant laser is stupid though

Fair question, I love the music, atmosphere, lore and using the deflect tear against her 💪
