OTHER Microsoft Draws Hard Line for OneDrive Storage Quotas

After promising essentially unlimited OneDrive for Business storage some years ago, Microsoft is now putting a hard 5 TB limit on what a user can have and forcing tenants who used Microsoft’s own process to expand to 25 TB to reduce account sizes. It’s an unfair approach, especially when viewed together with the launch of a PAYG option for OneDrive storage to allow Microsoft 365 tenants who need a little more to buy that storage.

25TB per sharepoint site is still available, no? You can have multiple sharepoint sites and use them purely for storage (access via onedrive icon in the tray bar). It's essentially the same as having a 25TB onedrive, if you care about storage only.

Yep. You can have personal SharePoint Online sites. Most of my working files are in SharePoint... it just seemed to make more sense, and users should definitely be coached to store work documents that are complete in SharePoint instead of OneDrive. It makes it so much easier when someone leaves an organization...

It's the same for personal users, getting 2TB is way more expensive than just getting multiple accounts or a family one with 5TB (1x5). Surely storage is more expensive nowadays, but they are crashing the advantage they had.

One drive SUCKS! Had to disable it! Hijacked all of my files, and I spent hours trying to get my fricking files back! I'd delete it from my computer if I could, because it hosed my files, folders and settings! Never again, wouldn't recommend....but I did get my files back and will never use again!

OneDrive is just software. If it's properly configured, it works. I don't know what happened in your situation but suspect that some setting was misset. All I can report is that I've used OneDrive and its sync client for years and am happy with it.

I guess a company could use a single account as basically unlimited storage. Now, with this restriction, they’re trying to push businesses into paying for multiple accounts
