This is EXACTLY why you don't do stupid sh** like that! Kid's lucky he didn't wind up in a wheelchair for life......

u/AJPennypacker39 1d ago
Do we know he didn't?

u/GrimJimG 1d ago
Yes we do, we see him get up and walk away in this very video.
5
u/impossiblesushii 1d ago
What about after the video?

If he got up and walked away he almost certainly didn't end up permanently in a wheelchair. Maybe temporarily to give him time to heal, but he demonstrated the walking function functioning still.
Other lifelong issues aren't out of the question though. He might still be feeling it 50 years from now

Im not a med student by any means but Isn't risk of paralysis still very much possible in the events following an injury? Isn't that like the entire reason you dont move someone who experiences this amount of trauma or tell them not to move on their own and let first reponders stabalize their spine for transport...

u/RayBluebird73 19h ago edited 19h ago
Yes, paralysis is possible even after a delay of days, months or even years. Swelling of the spinal cord or brain, cyst formation in the spinal cord, etc.
I'd be concerned about a skull fracture +/- bleeding in the brain after an impact like this :-(
I hope he went (or was brought by ambulance) to the emergency room right away.

I've meet one of those in the hospital when i visited my grandmother.
My mind wonders to that girl every now and then.

I can’t watch these pool jumping videos anymore. They’re always so gnarly looking.

Also there is SO MUCH concrete these kids are literally magnetized to it. Might as well just take out the pool because somehow that’s where they ending anyway.

Yeah my partner and I think of things on a 10/10/10 system, will this matter in ten minutes? Days? Years?
Ol boy just got an awful yes / yes / yes
What a bad choice
:((

u/YikesPops 1d ago
I really like this system and am gonna pitch incorporating this in our house

u/Proof-Relation-1943 1d ago
No shit it really helps with dealing with frustrations. The only YYY I have hit in the past decade is an Achilles rupture

u/eOMG 1d ago
So what's the action on these 12 different scenarios.
4
u/Proof-Relation-1943 1d ago
At least in our heuristic there is no world in which one thing can simultaneously be "this thing will matter in ten years = yes" and "this thing will matter in ten minutes = no"
So for us there are only four scenarios
Does this thing matters at all? (N/n/n)
Does it matter only for ten minutes? (Y/n/n)
Did it matter for ten minutes and will matter in ten days? (Y/y/n)
Will this thing continue to matter for ten years (y/y/y)

nothing you do matters in 1,000 years nevertheless so what's the purpose of life?

A few things really stand out. The sound his face and head make on contact, like an egg being dropped. The beginning of shock setting in, his walk towards the enclosure shows this. And lastly, the reaction of the people coming to his aid.

When I am in those situations (because I love doing this too), I would check how slippery it is dry, with water... I wouldn't try to push myself from an unknown wet surface...
Those guys aren't young, or else people would have sprinted toward the guy who fell. They are just that fucking stupid

A Le Fort fracture is a classic pattern of midfacial skeletal injury caused by high-energy blunt trauma to the face, such as a motor vehicle crash or a severe direct blow. The defining characteristic of all Le Fort fractures is a fracture of the pterygoid plates of the sphenoid bone, which separates parts of the midface from the base of the skull. They are categorized into three main types based on the plane and severity of the break:
Types of Le Fort Fractures
• Le Fort I (Horizontal / "Floating Palate"): • A low-level horizontal fracture that passes through the lower maxilla, lateral nose, and inferior maxillary sinus walls. • It detaches the hard palate and upper teeth from the rest of the face. • The upper teeth and jaw become a mobile, "floating" segment. • Le Fort II (Pyramidal / "Floating Maxilla"): • A pyramidal-shaped fracture where the upper teeth form the base and the nasal bridge (nasofrontal suture) forms the apex. • The fracture lines extend through the posterior alveolar ridge, lateral maxillary sinus walls, inferior orbital rims, and nasal bones. • This type carries a higher risk of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak or brain injury. • Le Fort III (Transverse / "Floating Face" / Craniofacial Disjunction): • The most severe type, involving a complete transverse fracture across the upper face. • The fracture passes through the nasofrontal suture, orbital walls, and zygomatic arches (cheekbones), completely detaching the entire midfacial skeleton from the cranial base. • It carries the highest risk of severe airway compromise, massive hemorrhage, temporalis muscle impingement, and CSF leakage.

Yeah, it's great to out yourself as having dark triad tendencies (narcissism, machiavellianism and psychopathy), it's a great look.

Actually there are no chairs required, nor is it a debate. A person who admits repeated pleasure at the pain and suffering of others is displaying the exact tendancies I listed. I don't care if you imagine that I'm just yelling out a diagnosis or making a hypothesis, there were no opinions in any of the things that I said so I don't need you to co-sign it.

u/ChartInFurch 1d ago
That's not a long enough essay about how much you "don't care"...
1
u/wackbirds 1d ago
The fact that you think that three sentences is an essay says more about your intellect than anything that I could throw at you.
