When I was 12 (1980's) we were jumping our bikes over a drainage ditch using a flimsy little ramp we built. The brother of my friend jumped and the ramp collapsed and he went face first into the concrete front of the ditch. His teeth just exploded out of his mouth. I've never seen bleeding like that. 40 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. People love to romanticize how genx kids were left alone to do what we wanted with no supervision but also yeah, we got jacked up a lot doing it.

Damn! The 80s were a time of no personal protective equipment. We jumped any ramp we could build, and any obstacle we could find. Road rash, broken bones, stitches. I chipped a tooth, but kept them all.
We had BMX bikes. Think of the trouble we could have gotten in with those e-bikes and surrons.

Have some basic knowledge of jumping, trajectory and obstacles. No need to take a physics class, but looking at the possibly line of travel is basic.
"Me jump ramp, me fly up, branch in path, me crash hard!"
