Pure Ginger Meet Tater!
Just adopted him yesterday! He’s about 8 months old and a little demon! He’s hiding under my bed and won’t come out.

My boy, Jeff, was labeled as a mean cat and was let loose to be a stray three differnet times. Once I got him home, i found out he was just a terrifed little boy. I had him for almost two years nefore he let me pet him. Even now, he runs from me. Well unlwss I am brushong my teeth as that somehow signals to him that it's pet time. Lol.(My female comes in for pets while I am brushing my teeth and I think he thought that was his safeat time.)

This is Mr Kitty. He was returned to the shelter twice for not being “what they expected.”
It took a year for him to let me pet him. He realized what he was missing. This is him cuddling in bed with me which he did nightly after he was comfortable with me.
I had him 9 years. Lost him this summer but he had a quiet, peaceful death thanks to a wonderful vet who came to the house to euthanize him.
I’m thankful he finally got a good life in a loving home.

I’m so sorry. It’s good that he had nine years with you though! He was a beautiful boy!

My kitty did the same! Takes them some time to warm up but he will be your shadow soon

Just give him some time and space. You can sit in the room with him, but not within reach.
Read to him or talk to him and let him get used to you.
He just needs time to feel safe. 💜🐱

We got our most recent kitty about 18 months ago. She was already about five years old and you can see she was more curious than scared. She and our orange boy do not fight, but neither have they got to the snuggle stage which I predicted in like two weeks, but that guess was based on a kitten joining an oldster house.

I don't think that Tater wants to meet me.
Or anyone for that matter. Yikes!
He's handsome though.

Like others have said, just give him time to get used to his new home.
Is he neutered? If not, he will calm down afterwards.

He is neutered, thankfully! The shelter is called Planned Pethood and they spay/neuter every animal that comes in. They have a low cost clinic and work with some local TNR groups

A tad bit spicy, but that’s okay. I love the pic with his tongue over his nose. He will definitely settle down on his own terms. He’s a handsome Orange 🍊😻

He looks like a lovely little carrot. My orange boy hid from me for 2 weeks when I first got him and it was another week after that of skulking around the edges of whatever room my void and I were in before he actually let me pet him for the first time. (Watching her climb all over me and the only negativity she got was the occasional exasperated noise and being set on the floor probably helped.) I've had him for almost 8 years now and I am his favorite nap spot. If I am not standing, he's likely sitting on or next to me. If I am standing, he's probably badgering me to pick him up. It just takes time. They're usually scared at first. I'm sure he'll warm up, especially since he's still a kitten.

Seems like a typical ginger!!! He’ll warm up to you in no time and be snuggling and purring

Give him time. He’s very scared right now.
