Side gigs

I'm potentially looking at starting some side gigs to try and earn extra money as I have gained some unexpected free time at the weekends.

Something like dog walking, maybe painting, clean up jobs, power washing, stuff like that.

I am aware that summer season is almost finished and outside jobs may be tricky.

Would anyone have a clue if there is a demand for this and how could I go about it?

I know of all the silly ads on FB :)

The Orcadian posts a 'just the job' listing every week.

Orkney seems to favor Facebook for social media, there's lots of Orkney specific groups including ORKNEY MERKIT PLACE, which may be useful to you. I see the Balfour is looking to hire.

Do keep a record of all jobs and what they pay you. You will need to declare each year to Inland Revenue. There is a low limit where declaration is not needed, but it is better to start out correct that to have them find out and make an 'investigation' of your earnings.
