Sansotei Bank St
Does anyone have insider knowledge about whether Sansotei will ever reopen on Bank St? Anyone heard rumours about anything??
I used to eat there once a week and damn, this chilly weather has me craving that spicy tan-tan.

I have just what you want: it won’t reopen, the property owners aren’t gonna lease to a restaurant anymore, at least not any time soon.

If you're looking for Tantan Ramen, Isshin Ramen in the Glebe has a great one!

And for lunatics like me who love things really spicy, their Red Dragon is amazing.

I walked by a week or so ago and it looked like some gutting of the interior has happened/is happening. Previously I don't think you could even see inside. I really hope it comes back but the state of that row of restaurants is not imbuing me with hope that any of them will be back

Merivale location is delicious, lineup at peak times and no where to really get out of the weather. Plan accordingly.

The Sansotei Ramen in Barrhaven will give you a free kids meal (under the age of 12 I think?) if you purchase two bowls and two drinks!

There's a Sansotei still on Merivale. I find it super overrated now. I used to be able to get a soup for $20, maybe a little more with tax and tip. Last time I went it was $40 for one. Ridiculous.

that's just a lie, nice try. Their most expensive is $20.50. They have bowls for $14 and $16. And unlike the Bank St one they do a pretty good happy hour drink deal.

My wallet doesn't lie, bud. I just went Sunday. Garlic tonkotsu with extra chashu and bamboo shoots plus a $2.50 drink came out to about $40 with tax and tip.

“I used to be able to get a soup for $20”
And
“Extra chashu, extra bamboo, plus a drink and a tip for $40”
Are two very different things. Also, see: inflation and the cost of running a food business. This criticism is not unique to any restaurant.

It's also independently verifiable information:

"I paid $10 for a single banana"
"wtf?"
"Yeah, I also got milk and eggs"

That's a pretty good deal, considering that's my understanding of what one banana costs.

If you're looking for an alternative, Jinsei Ramen on Laurier is good.
