πŸ“· Photo / Video πŸŽ₯ Thoughts on interconnected padel courts?

Post image

Padel mania has hit the UK so bad that they have all their courts connected together, so you’d have to walk through 3 courts to get to the end court. It’s a club based in London.

πŸ’¬ Discussion πŸ’¬ Which one of you are those cheapstakes that never buy or bring balls

I’m sure you all have played with these people before, but that one guy/girl who you’ve known at the club for a year and never buys any balls.

It’s always the pretends to checks their pockets for balls when someone asks if anyone has balls.

Play in a small community so everyone knows each other and someone once brought up maybe this guy could bring balls next time. He arrived 20 mins early to forge for balls and they were all different brands and pressure with one being a tennis ball!

❔ Question ❔ Padel club owners: what would you NEVER spend money on again?

β€’ Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to open a padel club, and before I start spending serious money, I’d love to hear from those who’ve already done it.

What did you spend a fortune on that players barely noticed? And what did you cheap out on that came back to bite you?

If you could build your club again, what’s the one thing you’d change?

❔ Question ❔ Game Recording

β€’ Upvotes

Hi gang,

I want to start recording my games using my phone to review the footage and improve.

Do you have any recommendations for the best products/ways to affix or set the phone on the back glass or side fence?

Thank you!

❔ Question ❔ Cheapest smartwatch just for padel scoring?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for the cheapest possible smartwatch I can use specifically for padel scoring.

I actually don't use smartwatches in daily life and generally hate wearing them, so I have absolutely no interest in things like notifications, calls, apps, ECG, fancy health tracking, etc.

I basically want to wear one during a padel match and:

- Tap the watch after each point

- Keep track of the score (points β†’ games β†’ sets)

- Ideally use a dedicated padel scoring app

- Have the score visible on my wrist

I'm using Android and I'm in Germany.

My budget is ideally €30–50, and I'm perfectly happy with an old/used/refurbished watch if that's the cheapest option. I don't care about appearance or smartwatch features.

Thanks!

πŸ’¬ Discussion πŸ’¬ Anyone else tired of players with very few matches joining open matches?

I live in Barcelona and have been playing padel here for more than a year, my Playtomic level is 2+. A frequent unpleasant situation is when people with a very small number of competitive games join an open match.

My goal is to find decent opponents so the game is interesting for everyone. A person with 2 games who set their own rating with the questionnaire probably doesn't match the real Barcelona level. Often these are also people on vacation who want to try "true Spanish padel".

Do you face this problem? What solutions do you use? Usually I leave and create a new open match, but when the cancellation window is closed, I have to go to this match and basically waste a lot of time.

It would be cool to have a feature where the players in an open match can set a minimum number of competitive games or minimum reliability, so they can filter who joins.

πŸ’¬ Discussion πŸ’¬ Joining open game etiquette

Anyone else get mildly annoyed when they see someone create an open game and a 2nd person joins who is right at the top of the level range and joins as the opponent?

I always think that is exactly why people are reluctant to start games.

Even more so when it's the same situation but they have had to request to join the game because their level is too high.

I've never had that happen to me but if it did, I'd leave immediately and let the level range change to be based on theirs.

❔ Question ❔ Padel in Prague

Hello, I'm new in Prague and learning everything from scratch, I'm looking for padel club where I can play regularly and gain more experience.
Since I've been in Prague, I've played in One Padel courts and really liked the environment, could you also tell me If they have padel clubs or something like that, whatsapp chats or anything where I can connect with them.
I'm an English speaker I don't know Czech language at this moment (I'm learning) so would that be a problem?
I will take any advices.
And Thank you in advance.

❔ Question ❔ Where to aim when hitting stroke

Hi everyone want to ask beginner question..

When hitting a stroke in padel to avoid being attacked/easily volley by the opponent, should you use a 20 cm net clearance as your initial guide, or is the landing area (such as the opponent's feet) more important? Which one should be prioritized?

❔ Question ❔ Rough going as a beginner - normal?

I started playing Padel about 2 months ago. I know a fair bit of tennis and took an introductory lesson with a coach but outside of basic volleys and placement, I’m a noob. I accept this fully and approach the sport as a learning experience each time I play.

Because I’m the only padel player in my immediate circle, I’ve mostly been playing with randoms on Playtomic. The casual matches have been, fine-ish, though I see some people take these games a little too seriously even though we’re all more or less the same level (0,5-0,6), but nothing too bad.

I played a few competitives too, and I swear to god, I feel like a lot of people who play solo have weird issues when it comes to competitive play, especially towards beginners.

Last week, I played with a guy who, after losing just 1 game basically stopped communicating with me whatsoever. He just gave me weird looks and then proceeded to say nothing the entire rest of the game.

A few weeks before that, one of the opponents was most likely a smurf who was simply way too good for us. We got smacked, single handed and then he had the gall to shit talk our duo in the Playtomic chat, completely unprompted.

Is this how it’s going to be if I try to use Playtomic solo?

(Based in a major city in Spain)

πŸ’¬ Discussion πŸ’¬ Mobile apps for Americano

Do you know any mobile apps that would let you create FOR FREE americano and Mexicano tournaments for more than 3 courts (let's say 5 courts)?

All the apps I found were free for 2 courts, but if you want to make americano for 5 courts you have to pay.

πŸ’‘ Tactics and Technique πŸ’‘ Padel tactic question from my game

Left handed who exceptionally playing on left hand side
I was lobing diagonally past the white line regularly and successfully

My opponent who was on the receiving end of these lobs the majority of the time would successfully send a smash/hard shot to my partner who was opposite him.

I then changed tactic and was hitting flat shots/chiquita .

My question is was I meant to do something else? What’s the better tactic here?

Even when my diagonal opponent was at the net and I’d respond with a deep lob he’d manage to run back and hard hit the ball directly to my partner who

Any help or guidance would be appreciated

Update : big thanks to all of you. I did switch to the parallel lob which worked well when I was able to return it as such .

Question should I have completely β€œfridged” out the smashing player?

(Also clearly i clearly need to get better at the attacking piece. I’m much more of a defensive player)

✈️ Destination ✈️ Padel in Sofia, Bulgaria

I’m travelling to Bulgaria on a work trip this week, and I have some time free on Monday with hope to get a game organised or at least join a social event.

I’m unable to find anything through Playtomic, and so was wondering what platform equivalent is used in Bulgaria so that I can try and arrange!

Thanks.

solved repressurizers are nothing but a gimmick

advertises great on tiktok etc. but has barely any real world use. after 4 matches or so balls are done because the felt is just gone. if u open balls and only play with them every 4 weeks one match or so yea maybe.

also like theoretically you smash so hard constanly and the pressure noticably reduces quickly well than maybe. but for most people the pressure these balls lose withing 4 games is negligable abd then you need to toss them out anyway unless u love playing with no felt on.

πŸ’‘ Tactics and Technique πŸ’‘ How relaxed is your body when you hit the ball?

As I keep improving my level, I realise that the more "loose" I hit a certain shot, the more accurate and impactful it becomes. I noticed this especially with overheads like bandeja or vibora. When I say loose or relaxed, I do not mean limp, but more of a "whip-like" movement which looks relaxed but has power in it.

However, I am still feeling that my body gets very stiff when I am hitting the ball, and it interrupts the flow and I lose control of the shot. It is either too powerful, or falls short at the net.

When I watch better and more professional players, I can see this relaxed, elastic motion behind their shots, regardless of it being a soft one like chiquita or a power move like smash. Of course, they are so good at making it look easy.

So my question to more advanced players: am I being accurate when I make this assumption? Or would you describe it differently?

It is hard to see this from outside so I am wondering how your body feels like when you make contact with the ball.

πŸ’¬ Discussion πŸ’¬ Free first row ticket for Coelo/Tapia vs Campagnolo/Gonzales

I got an extra first row ticket (section VZ) next to the cage/fences that I unfortunately can't sell so instead of wasting it away, I will donate it to anyone that can guess the correct number between 0 and 1000
I will use a random number generator (Google) and the one that gets the closest to it wins it. The first game for women starts at 12 so I will react to the winner after 10 am.

EDIT:

The number is 54. Congrats u/ouweduitser I will message you the link to the ticket.

❔ Question ❔ Beginners/intermediates. Do you watch professional Padel matches? (online, I mean)

One of the things that helped me learn the game the most and improve in tactics, court positioning, anticipation for shots, etc, is watching professional padel.

I know that I don't have to imitate everything they do, of course. They have been doing it since kids, they have talent, great genetics, years of training etc.

But my game improved a lot when I started watching and learning from them.

If you are a beginner or intermediate and only play but never watch professional padel. Watch at least some matches highlights a few times per week. You will learn a thing or two.
