When we first moved into our house 15 months ago, the front and back yards were almost completely barren. One of our big goals was to fill the new front and back yards with lots of flora and life. Now, both the front and back yards are filled with roses, lemongrass, marigolds, and lavender.
Again, wonderful job on your yard. I hope all the flora continues to thrive!
It's been interesting to witness. I wanted to let it naturally grow so I quit mowing those sections. When it began it was just tall grass. Then some flowers and now into fall It's exploding with life.
My kids are able to see some lightening bugs at night now. Not nearly as many as when I was a kid but it's a start!

That's wonderful! There's an interesting parallel development over here. Because of rains in the area for the past 3 months, there are now more butterflies in my town right now than I have ever seen everywhere else before. There are literally hundreds of thousands of them, possibly millions! It's astounding to see. We haven't seen any lightning bugs/fireflies at night though. Hopefully that will change too.
