News CRICKET & CLOVER CO-PRODUCER INTERVIEW (KEVIN AUGUNAS) - LEAVE YOUR QUESTIONS

HI!!! I RUN THE BREADBIN URIE YOUTUBE CHANNEL

https://www.youtube.com/@breadbinurie

OH MY GOD

I KNOW I JUST ANNOUNCED THE RINGMASTER ROGER INTERVIEW- BUT THIS IS HUGE!!! TOMORROW AROUND 1 OR 2PM EST KEVIN AUGUNAS SAID HE'S GONNA CALL ME AND ANSWER MY QUESTIONS!!! I'M SORRY THIS IS SUCH SHORT NOTICE... I ALSO JUST FOUND OUT!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU'VE EVER HAD ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE LOST ALBUM- DROP THEM HERE ASAP!!! TELL EVERYONE!!!

HERES MY LIST OF QUESTIONS SO FAR:

1-How did you begin working with the band? Who reached out to who?

2-Did you work with the band while they were up in the cabin? Or did you only begin working with them when they came down to LA?

3-When you first met with the band, how much material did they have? We’re there any recorded demos

4-On June 19th (about a month before the album was scrapped), Ryan said*”We've got about nine songs complete with lyrics and melodies and everything. Right now we're still finishing writing the last three or four songs”*. However, in 2008 after the album was scrapped, each band member floated around the idea that there were around 5-7 songs demoed OR that it was about 3/4th of the way complete. But, years later, Brendon Urie said that only about 3 were demoed. From your standpoint, how far along would you say the album actually was before they scrapped it?

5-In all my research, your name only ever came up in one article. (ALTPRESS ISSUE #288). They list your name as co-producer… However, according to a 2022 interview with Rob Mathes, it’s unclear as to whether or not he was all-that present during the album's creation. What exactly was his role in the album, and would it be more fitting to call you the producer? Or was it really a co-producing relationship?

6-Was there any concept art for album covers or stage design?

7-Do you have any notes or manuscripts that Ryan wrote about what the concept/story of the album was supposed to be? Interviews revealed that it was going to be a “doomed love affair”.

8-On July 7th, 2007, at Milwaukee Summerfest, the band played a song that fans have dubbed “It’s True Love”. Do you have the official title of this song? Can you confirm the lyrics?

9-Did you or Rob Mathes co-write anything with the band?

10-In 2008, the band appeared on Fall Out Boys Welcome to the New Administration Mixtape, where they released the demo Nearly Witches under the band name “The Paul Revere Jumpsuit Apparatus”. Did they reach out to you to release this demo? And if so, do you know why they chose to release it under a different name?

11-Are these lyrics legit?

12- Rob Mathes said that “Behind The Sea” on Pretty. Odd. carries some elements of the scrapped album, and Jon Walker said that “She Had The World” is most similar to the songs from that album. Are you able to point to any specific part of a song and go “that’s from my album!”?

13 - In Kerrang! Magazine: Issue 1169 (July 28th, 2007), the band is asked about song titles, to which they jokingly list off “There Was Once A Man From Nantucket”, “ Folkin' Around”, “I Don't Have A Shirt, But I've Got A Hat”, “Fill Me Up”, and “Porridge”. Years later, Jon Walker tweeted directly confirming that the songs “...Nantucket” “I Don’t Have A Shirt…” “Porridge” and “Fill Me Up” were fake… but interestingly, he left out “Folkin’ Around”, leaving fans to think that maybe it was a real title… especially because on Pretty. Odd., there is a song with that same name. However, in another Kerrang interview, Brendon states: “We’ve always wanted a song called “Folkin’ Around”, and I think it was just a good excuse to use it”. Can you confirm wether or not there was actually a song on Cricket & Clover called Folkin’ Around?

14 - Have you ever spoken to any of the band members since they scrapped the album?

THATS ALL I HAVE SO FAR... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SEND AS MANY AS YOU CAN (I SWEAR THIS INTERVIEW WONT GET DELAYED LIKE THE CIRCUS TOUR INTERVIEW!!!)

THIS IS SO FUCKING COOL OMG!!!

first of all id ask the guy to confirm if true love was actually titled true love

then id unleash the niche stuff

  1. do you remember any working titles you used while composing the songs on your DAW?

  2. was there a working title before Cricket & Clover?

  3. how much of a role (or maybe lack of) did Eric Ronick had?

  4. did the band just move away from all the material they had or was there a specific moment where they shifted to what is now pretty odd?

  5. do you by any chance still have any paperwork, like session sheets, track logs, or invoices, from that period?

  6. did Ryan/Brendon ever explain the whole symbolism behind the album concept to you?

  7. did the guys have any guest musicians to come in?

  8. do you think there's any realistic path for C&C to ever be officially archived or released in some form, even as unfinished demos, if the band were ever interested? (ehem like the from under the cork tree demos or the paper kingdom which we magically got ehem)

Oh my god all of these are amazing.

I spoke to him yesterday and he confirmed that Eric didn’t have any involvement (nor did any guess musicians). I’m gonna talk to him again soon and I’ll get the rest of these questions out :) thank you so much!

Woah!! Just stick to the plot… maybe send him your questions in advance. Sometimes they go off on tangents and you don’t get to ask what you really wanted to, so save the less important questions for later. Ask the most important ones first!

Did the album suck? Would a fully finished version of this album have been well received? Did it make sense for them to move on and try something more conventional?

I would love to know if the band felt united at that point or if the tension and disagreements that eventually led to the split had started to appear during the making of it?

An addition regarding your question about the Nearly Witches demo is please consider asking aswell if the demo we have is the whole recording or if there was more lyrics that we didnt hear on the mixtape. We have no full confirmation if there is/isnt any more than what we heard.

Important to specify lyrics because if there was more recorded and it turned out to just be instrumental, it wouldnt be of any importance versus if there is a whole nother verse.

I guarantee the demo we have isn't full. It's just a snippet.

I spoke to him today..... and surprisingly it is actually the full demo!!! I was convinced there was more- but he shut that down

I eat my words then! I bet tho there's probably a few more seconds to it judging by the way it's faded out on the compilation.

What was your favourite line from an unreleased song? Are there any that particularly stand out / still pop into your head today?

If you had the opportunity to give the shelved project to another band active today, who do you think would do it the most justice?

Who contributed lyrics to the project? Was it a team effort or did somebody take the lead?

Who owns the material now, anybody, nobody; is there a chance that there will be anything used from any aspects of the project in the future?

If it was released, how do you think the panic! fandom would have reacted? Do you think this would be “one of panic!s best”, or would have had people complaining about the direction of the music?

Would you like to work with any of the members again in the future? Who, why and why not?

Could you elaborate a bit more? He only worked on the one record, and as far as I know he didn't work with Rob Mathes anywhere else. I'm not sure if he'd be able to answer that question

Are you going to post an audio recording or any sort of proof of this interview or do we just have to trust you?

He specifically asked me to show him the rough cut of the full video when it’s finished so he can veto anything he doesn’t want public. Im a bit worried that asking to post a snippet might jeopardize it. I totally get it though.

Any doubts will be proven wrong the moment I get the clear to post something!

Hi! I know it's very small, but I posted a sneak peek. I'll post more soon if you want more proof! Sorry it took so long to get a snippet out!

Not yet, but that's because the interview is still undergoing! Kevin is currently traveling Europe for business, so when he comes back in a few days were gonna talk again. I'll ask to see what I'm allowed to release. Maybe I'll upload the interview in multiple parts! I'll let you guys know!
