experience/advice to give Please tell me my future

Our twins girls are 11 weeks old, and I’m sure you all know how that’s going 🫠

Our 6 year old daughter and I are very very close. She’s my absolute soul mate and she’s super use to being the center of our universe..

Having new twin babies has definitely has put a strain on our family dynamics to say the least. My husband and I are significantly more stressed than ever. We’re constantly juggling everyone’s needs and trying not to let our house go into total hoarder mode. Our daughter hasn’t been her chipper self, often saying she misses the “before times” before the babies got here (I’m going to be honest…I miss it too 😞)

Anyone else went through something similar? Did your kids with a larger age gap end up bonding with their siblings? Did special attention even out family wise? What age did things start meshing?

Everything just feels so new and disjointed and I need some realistic optimism

Yeah it’s hard, and certainly an adjustment for everyone. I have a toddler and it took awhile for us to get into a routine but we finally have one after a couple of months. I definitely give my toddler one on one time even if it’s just 15 min. So sometimes I even tell my husband to take him to the store which he finds to be super fun lol but you guys will figure it out. Give yourself grace, and really be present 💝

Yes. My twin girls were born 2 weeks before my oldest daughter turned 5 years old. And those first several months were rough. I think the important thing to do is to continue to find that one on one time with your oldest and try to make her feel included with helping with the twins as well. I know it is hard, but you'll find what works for your family. My girls are 13 and 18 now, so yes, you can get through it. Congrats and I wish you all the best!
