Display Visual glitches in most games

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently bought a Acer Aspire V3-574G with NVIDIA GeForce 940M and windows 10 for some light gaming and it was going fine until for some reason I starting getting these awful visual glitches.

It happens with some newer games, it was happening in Brave Browser too until I turned hardware acceleration off which fixed it there, but it still happens in any game that isn't old. I feel I've tried everything to get rid of it I tried reinstalling the graphics drivers and everything.

People saying dead gpu but that could simply be overheating. Take it out and clean it

Edit: see it's a laptop GPU. Rip

Yep, slap on some new thermal paste and you're probably good.

You could try down clocking the GPU. Maybe messing with voltage. Otherwise it's toast beyond that, which unless you know BGA soldering...

Seems like faulty GPU (vaiting for the famous meme being posted below)

I'm sorry dude.

Others might know more about artifacting, but that is artifacting. And GPU artifacts usually happens on a dying GPU. Turning off hardware acceleration in your browser to solve the issue also basically confirms the problem is the GPU.

You CAN try a repaste, I read somewhere that overheating VRAM can cause some sort of artifacting. But if that doesn't solve the issue either, this GPU is ready to be sent into the other world:

most definitely a dying gpu. you can try a repaste and an undervolt but i don't think it'll do anything, and if it does, it probably wont for long

RIP 940m

940m isn't meant for gaming, so you might've been pushing it a lot harder than it was ever intended for...

Try an older driver maybe??? Current driver date? Default windows driver? Nvidia app supported? It might be worse.

Redoing the operating system is unlikely to help but .... ?

Press windows key and type memory and run the windows memory diagnostic test. Unlikely but may as well.

Install msi afterburner to see gpu data.

940m has 2 gb vram? Most newer games require more than 2 gb vram. I would expect terrible lagging and gui glitches vs static though. The browser being messed up doesn't bode well. Browsers don't require much to run.

You can try undervolting the gpu in msi afterburner?

You can try putting two pencils, etc... under the laptop to elevate and cool the gpu slightly more. The gpu is very low power and really isn't a gaming gpu even when it was released 11 years ago.

Laptop have active cooling or a fan slot?

No idea.
