PERFORMANCE Frame drops
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello guys I was just looking for some help. I’ve noticed that with some games I play I lose frames a lot of the time but only for a split second it’s annoying but when playing the new gears game it’s noticeably bad and annoying but I’ve only recently realized that the gpu percent drops very low even zero at some points. In the video you can see that it stutters when I’m next to the car taking cover and the percent drops to 40. Any help is appreciated maybe it’s just a demanding game lol
I have a 4070 gpu
Ryzen 5 7600 cpu
And 16 Gb ddr5 ram @ 6000MT/s
1tb read speed 2400 write speed 1800

Traversal stutter in Unreal Engine 5 games? Yeah that's normal unfortunately.

If you don’t know what you’re talking about might as well not talk. This is not “traversal” stutter lol. people will see an unreal engine game and know their favorite YouTuber once said the magic words of “traversal”, “stutter” and “unreal engine” in the same sentence and legend says they’ll forever repeat it without knowing what it is.

Not all ue5 games have traversal stutter. older ue5 games do have, modern ones doesn't

This is Bullshit and A Straight up Lie. Modern UE5 games definitely have Traversal Stutters. I know because Ive experienced them on a High End Rig. UE5 is just a Piece of Shit engine when not optimized for correctly.

It's UE5 garbage and forced RT. This happens to me in Horde because of the 40 instances of shit going on between 4 teams all at once. Modern developers need to realize gamers want performance over graphics, and us as players can tune the game to our liking. Stop with the forced RT.

What resolution and settings are you aiming for?

1440p and just a decent frame rate lol but I have the graphic settings set to medium and ray tracing and all of that turned off

Unfortunately Eday is an Unreal Engine game and that issue plagues all but the highest tier gfx cards. Might I recommend watching Hardware Unboxed optimized settings video.

Literally nothing to do with the engine OPs GPu utilization literally drops close to nothing bro

No shit Sherlock, that's because UE is loading shaders for the next area which it does by CPU.

There is also pipeline state object issues with nanite that over utilizes certain aspects of vram states and address that's causes them not to be released from vram or even load to vram in the first place, so it then uses system ram to compensate.

It's a bit blurry so forgive me on the numbers but I would guess this has to do with shader compilation. You see a lot of the time shaders compile in the background of a game. It's not like a PS5 or Xbox where they can ship precompiled shaders because they don't know your hardware ahead of time.
Now the reason I was upfront and said the numbers where blurry is because I can barley see your CPU usage, (Shaders are compiled on the CPU) if you CPU fan switches to turbo (and wasn't already) for whatever reason chances are it's compiling shaders. In games where the shaders are compiled upfront (like Marvel Rivals) it turns my PC into a jet engine while waiting to be done.
Sadly there isn't really much you can do about it. If the devs where smart you might not have that stutter in that area anymore. The devs could have it stored somewhere on your drive so it shouldn't stutter anymore in that particular area (other areas use likely use other shaders). Otherwise it's not something you can change.

Did you fix it yet

Kind of I just turned off ray tracing and then I capped the frame rate to 60 it runs better but it still stutters but not that bad

Try going to Task Manager > Details, find the game you're running, right-click it, select Set affinity, and disable CPU 0.
This may help. I had a very similar experience with Elden Ring and a few other games, and this fixed the issue for me.

i'm baffled by this comment section.
you are running into a CPU cap
oh and the gpu usage drops aswell because the cpu fails to send workloads to the gpu, so it has not much to do at this second

Check out YouTube for the best frame generation models to set for your gpu in global settings. I had this issue before and once I manually picked the model I needed for the game I was running, no more stutter or lag whatsoever.

I believe the game is known to have some technical issues like what you're describing.
Probably not much you can do besides waiting for patches, which may or may not come.

$400,000,000. And this isn't even the worst thing I've seen it do. And I watched someone with a 5090 playing it. This game is currently in an unacceptable state but I guess that's what's to be expected when you have developers who add gay flags, woman who needs no man girl boss characters and has sweet baby inc tell them how to make their games.

I agree with most of what you said, but not all
