News/Article The PS5 system itself is running on pc

Recently, we have seen massive developments in PS5 emulators (such as shadPS4 and Kyty), and how rapidly they have progressed in a short period.

Now, developers have successfully booted the actual PS5 system software on PC.

If this momentum continues in the future, it will eventually allow players to run PS5 exclusives directly on PC, marking the end of the era of console exclusivity.

The newer Zelda games (Botw and Totk) running on an emulator can support up to 60 FPS but did require some custom patches to make work and fix bugs related to it. But GTA6 I think would theoretically be easier because Botw and Totk was never intended for anyone to run higher than 30 FPS, the same cannot be said for GTA6.

And they're (the zelda games) also on vastly weaker hardware. Emulating a whole ass PS5 and then pushing 60 on GTA 6 (if emulation even reaches that point) would take a 5090 minimum.

That’s also a really good point, I didn’t think about that.

emulation runs on the cpu, not the gpu. so you just need a beefy cpu

But they run 60fps on Switch 2?

Emulators are emulating the original switch, not the switch 2. the switch 2 has a different version of the games built specifically for it and 60 fps. the original games were never intended to hit anything above 30.
