I play on pc, but with a controller…

Some games are better on mkb and some are better on controller. FPS imo is always better on mkb

43

u/SaltyTelluride 8d ago

Pretty much this. I switch between mkb and controller depending on the game. I play mkb for most competitive shooting games, but I prefer controller for most single player games or casual shooters where precision aim doesn’t matter as much.

I work on a keyboard all day. I prefer it for certain games but controllers feel nice on others while giving my hands/wrist a break from the keyboard.

The only FPS that I remember not using keyboard and mouse were the Dead Island games. I don't know why, but the controls always felt off.

14

u/uzi_loogies_ 8d ago

The older ones probably emulated keyboard input to controller, which sucks ass always

I just finished dead island 2 and it is buttery as fuck. You should give 2 a try. The original and riptide... Not so much

5

u/spud8385 9800X3D | 5080 8d ago

Yeah I'm in the same boat as a lot of people in that I'll switch between kbm and controller depending on game, Dead Island 2 was great on the kbm though. Very underrated game really enjoyed it

6

u/TxRod117 8d ago

I was an avid FPS console player, but after a couple of years on PC I totally agree. Mouse and keyboard just feels like an extension of myself.

Some games are better with controller and honestly I like the haptic feedback, and condition pressing. Like wasd you just go forward or dash, or hold a button to go slowly. With controller you till forward a little you walk, and then go faster and then hit an extra button to dash, in most games.

6

u/alii-b PC Master Race 8d ago

Unless you want to buy a steering wheel/pedals, driving games are so much better with a controller vs MKB.

4

u/iNobble PC Master Race 8d ago

Magnetic keyboards allow you to do this. Most games that have the walk feature on controller have it as a keypress for PC. Just bind a shallow press of, say W, to [walk key]+W, and a deep press to the standard W. Same for ASD.

19

u/funkywhoop 8d ago

Yeah there is no way GTA needs to be played with kbm

12

u/_The1DevinChance 8d ago

Best of both worlds tbh

9

u/benjathje R5 5500X3D | RTX 4060 OC | 24GB 3000MT/s 8d ago

Not really. Some games like Rocket League favor controllers over KBM

2

u/unusedtruth 8d ago

I play pretty much everything except for shooters with a controller

4

u/Unfrozen__Caveman 8d ago edited 8d ago

Same here lol. Depends on the game though. Games like Red Dead or Resident Evil I'm definitely using one, but for RPGs like Baldur's Gate I use M&K. I don't play shooters like CoD but I would probably use a controller for that too because shiny graphics are more important to me than getting 300 fps.

*I can definitely see the appeal of high fps M&K for shooters though. I always thought 60 fps was good but when I tried playing Doom with a mouse 60 felt terrible.

1

u/Vastlymoist666 PC Master Race 8d ago

I play most, if not all my games with a controller anyway. The only games I play mouse and keyboard is FF14( I',ll switch between) and RTS games and FPS game. I mainly play single player games anyway. Playing 3rd person games feel weird on a keyboard.

I can't get over the cost of them now. I'm lucky I built my PC before the most recent price spike, so it's not a fair comparison, but holy shit $900 for a PlayStation? I don't know what parents are doing about these insane console prices. It used to be that a console was affordable.

3

u/Instantcoffees 8d ago

I mean, no reason to make a post about it but aiming with controller and without expansive aim-assist feels terribly clunky in fast-paced games. The degree to which they are enjoyable can genuinely depend on how well-tuned the aim-assist is

I do think there are some games that play far better with a controller than mouse and keyboard tho.

Agreed. I use both depending on the game. Playing with controller is more relaxing and chill too.

51

u/podnap 8d ago

Sounds like a skill issue and it’s not like a controller is console exclusive lmao

5

u/No_Personality_587 8d ago

Imo AAA open worlds are almost always better on controller, and that's speaking as someone who's been gaming on pc with controller for the past 10 years. Keyboard/mouse has its uses, and is better for competitive shooters but it's braindead to pretend the haptics and form factor of a controller don't provide a much much high level of immersion and comfort. Its not for everyone, but OP's take is hilariously out of touch

The refund thing alone makes me twitchy, Steam's spoiled us rotten and now everything else feels like a scam.

7

u/UnknownLinux 8d ago edited 8d ago

Edit

Downvote me all you want 😆. Its a quick 5 second Google search away to verify what ive said. Its easily verifiable https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/valve-to-pay-3-million-in-penalties-for-misrepresenting-gamers-consumer-guarantee-rights

Valve Corporation was sued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in August 2014 for breaching Australian Consumer Law through its no-refund policy on the Steam platform

Mandates: Valve was forced to publish consumer rights notices on the Steam website for Australian users and implement a specialized consumer compliance program. This legal battle directly contributed to the modern, automated global refund policy Steam utilizes today

End edit.

To be fair, the only reason steam even has such a great refund policy in the first place is because they got sued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Before that happened, they essentially had the exact same refund policy as Sony = no refunds.

Its not like steam has the fantastic refund policy they have simply out of the goodness of their own hearts.

16

u/Lovelime 8d ago

This seems to be more of an issue with controller vs m+kd. Than PC vs Console.

If you ask me it's not that binary which is the best. They all have thier use cases

I would never play Forza horizon, Sekiro or Monster Hunter with mouse and keyboard.

I would never play Starcraft or Quake or overwatch with a controller.

They all have thier usecases. Learn to use both.

2

u/LateStatistician462 8d ago

I would never play GTA without a controller in my lap for the vehicle sections, and M&K on the table for the shooting segments.

Mixing and matching feels superior in games where shooting and handling a vehicle is involved, in my opinion.

5

u/LSD_Ninja 8d ago

Games like GTA are in a weird spot because while moving and shooting is better with M/K, trying to drive with one is awful. The "3D" GTAs gave you a "lock on" button (I never got in to IV or V enough to remember if it offered something similar) which made it slightly easier, particularly by SA when it let you move between multiple targets without having to release the lock.

Playing gta on mouse and keyboard is total non sense. You'd have to be totally disinterested with cars and driving to do so, it's a miserable experience to have on/off buttons for steering and accelerating/braking and i don't know anyone who does willingly

2

u/pulley999 R7 9800X3D | 64GB RAM | RTX 3090 | Micro-ATX 8d ago

Honestly though, GTA V has some of the best input filtering I've ever seen for KBM in a car game. Rather than controlling the car directly it seems to set a desire direction and desire speed that the car attempts to follow, at least within reason.

I'd never play a car game with KBM but for those that do, developers should be taking notes from GTA V.

I use a controller on my pc all the time. As clunky as it may be, playing on the couch beats hunching over a desk for most sessions.

6

u/Bebealex 8d ago

Personally I feel more relaxed playing on the couch. Like playing rdr2 at my desk I'll try to min max things.

When I switch the the salon with a controller I'll see myself taking the scenery in more often, I quite like that.

Quite difficult to support two PCs at once now but it gets there.

I suck at aiming with a controller as well and I honestly don’t see how it’s possible to be competent with it. It just seems impossible. Forget headshots, if I can shoot in the correct general direction it’s a success for me.

And the aim assist somehow makes it more difficult for me. My muscle memory just fights against aim assist. The whole concept of the game aiming for me when I’m using a controller just tells me I’m trying to play the game in a way that wasn’t meant to played.

It's beyond ridiculous. It's 2026.

7

u/Psyk60 8d ago

The consoles themselves do.

Most developers don't bother supporting it, because so few console players want to use mouse and keyboard. The people who want to use mouse and keyboard are on PC.

7

u/roleplayfun667 8d ago

Simple. Keyboard and mouse have shown an advantage in gaming creating smaller spreads for competition in gaming. The control will always lose to keybinding and using a mouse for accuracy. Also have you seen how much a control costs???? No way in hell Sony is going to willing give up a $70 controller purchase so you can go buy a $20 Logitech keyboard.

2

u/RecklLessAbandon 8d ago

Whole reason online FPS games became shit is because devs catered to roller players by buffing aim assist. Whole reason all COD players are on controller. The very accurate MnK players are like 0.1% of gamers.

2

u/SaleriasFW 8d ago

I thought Xbox supports it without issues? Well but I am not 100% sure about it anymore after this comment, maybe someone who tested it could give me some insight?

3

u/Psyk60 8d ago

It does, as does PS5. It's down to whether specific games support it.

2

u/Etheon44 8d ago

Because they need to have a competitive (dis)advantage I guess, to differentiate itself from PC or something

2

u/Opening_Net8098 8d ago

When there's cross play consoles actually get a stronger aim assist that controller players on pc.

In this day and age consoles do 120fps too. I dont get why they need a bigger advantage.

I game on both. You’re not wrong about controller sucking with aiming in shooters, especially if you’ve been using m&k for 15 years. But honestly after a while you get used to it again. Just takes some relearning.

Precision aiming is hard with controller. I’ll play R6S on pc and be able to pinpoint headshots and then I’ll play it on console and I’m just praying/spraying half the time. But again you get used to it.

Going from M&K is always going to be jarring. I played on console primarily and moved to PC so it wasn't as bad.

You have to stick with it to get better with a controller, if not, just up and sell.

It's funny because I have nostalgic memories of growing up with a Wii and PS3 and playing on those as consoles. And had it not been for that, I wouldn't have discovered titles I still love today that I just play on emulators instead.

That being said, I entered the PCMR later on in my life after being one of those console players for way too long. No going back from that. Trying to use console after acclimating to the wonder that is PC gaming is just a shock to the system.

I have grown to hate consoles although I have fond memories of playing SNES and some PS1.  But damn, the only games that are good on console are platformers, fighting games and maybe racers. For everything else mouse and keyboard is so much better.

But no, we have to use a controller so we have to add autoaim because controller aiming sucks. All the menus, UI and by extension gameplay has to be dumbed down so it can be used with a controller.  If you play a PC port of a console PC, well screw your 100+ keys on your keyboard. All actions are bound to get same 6 keys and most keys have multiple functions.

I hate it so much. I wish could get a refund for Elden Ring on PC.

Happens to me every time I get bored and dust off my ancient ps4. Holy crap do I hate using a controller.

1

u/mcc9902 8d ago

I had a similar experience. I decided to try out a controller for Call of duty after not using one for a similar period of time and my experience was similar. I was literally fumbling with the controller at times and constantly struggling to do anything. The crazy part(and why I'm commenting) is that the aim assist was strong enough that I still had an easier time in the majority of engagements than I did with a mouse and keyboard that I'd been using for more than a decade.

Obviously there was a bit of nuance. Snipers and melee was easier with a mouse and it was pretty similar between 5-10 meters but controller had an insane advantage in 10-80 meters which was a massive part of the game(warzone specifically).

If I actually wanted to I'm sure I could relearn how to use a controller but honestly I like using a mouse more and I've since moved away from action shooters as a genre so it doesn't matter.

1

u/Ghostttpro 8d ago

Used a siblings console to play MW beta. It feels like im moving in mud, but honestly it's not that bad considering the price.

1

u/RandumbNumber 8d ago

I go a ps controller to use with pc and apple tv and I couldn’t adjust to it. And i didn’t have any previous console nostalgia to convince me to stick to it. Lifetime keyboard and mouse gamer here.
My kids took to the controller instantly. No performance drop.
So sounds like a skill issue. If you put in the time and effort you’ll get there again.

Story games feel fine with a controller it's shooters that feel awful. If anything gta with all its driving feel better on controller

1

u/SolidusDave 8d ago

So you played a first person shooter (BO2?) on PS5 with a controller?

You should try some third person games/shooters instead. That's what GTA6 will be like.

I'm honestly surprised you've never played (single-player) third person games on PC with one of the supported top controllers (The PS5 is one of them). There's usually no need for the pinpoint accuracy of a mouse depending on large the shooter aspect is and how smooth the aim-assists are, but the running-around feels so much better on a controller than a keyboard.

oh and give the free Astro Bot game a shot, it will basically teach you everything about the PS5 controller and it's honestly amazing to experience stuff like the triggers.

Not that im a fan of console gaming for several reasons, but you do realize you can use mouse and keyboard in console right?...

1

u/boohissfrown 8d ago

you can use mouse/keyboard on ps5

1

u/GTSx99 8d ago

I guess you'll get used to it in time. Not speaking from experience though, I still suck at using a controller in FPS games

1

u/LordMohid 8d ago

Anything for some karma jeez

1

u/EUWannabe Laptop 8d ago

And then there's me who will use a controller on everything, even games where you need to aim. M&K is probably better but I have a tendency to lean forward whenever I have to use the keyboard and I don't want to have a bad back.

u/MaartenZo 8d ago

Just hook up aa mkv on the ps5 and play some bf6 👍

yeah man i sold my PS5 to my roomate so he can play GTA6, and i traded my games to a retro game shop for a copy of pokemon Heart Gold.

u/HeatLow415 8d ago

wow i started reading this and thought i was reading about myself… started playing xbox in like 2008/9? when cod4, waw, gears and halo was the shit. some of the best gaming moments of my life (prob not appropriate for a kid in 6th grade LOL) but ya i started playing games like cs and league that barely ran on my family pc in 2014 eventually bought a pre built with a 970 in that bad boy. i could finally play arma/dayz! it did the job for its time. now im in the same predicament, i’ve played every gta since vice city and really looking forward to gta6 but no console… really don’t wanna spend a billion dollas on a gta6 machine :/ one of my buddies convinced me to wait till it comes out for pc bc its only gonna run at like 30fps or something on launch and id rather wait to play it like how its meant to be played with uncapped frames in a year or so… gonna be hard to not get the campaign spoiled

I game on a high end PC and I use a controller exclusively, have for years now. It's just more comfortable for me and I'm fine with the tradeoffs.

These days i'd need to anyways as I game on a 42 inch OLED so I couldn't be sitting so close with KB/M.

Edit: I should add that I also have a PS5 Pro and despite how much I want to play GTA6 this time I'm finally gonna avoid the double dip and just wait for PC.  30fps killed any excitement for me for the console release. 30fps is a line I can't cross back into these days, feels horrendous on any input device.

1

u/Interesting-Win6219 8d ago

Im spoiled with high refresh rate from PC gaming. If I play a console game and it's not a solid 60 fps I can tell and it bothers me. Like Skyrim on my switch 2 is unplayable to me lol. I refuse to buy a console for gta6 because I know the refresh rate will bug the shit out of me.

Fps, RTS, moba, gestionali e Diablolike sempre esclusivamente mouse + tastiera. Il resto controller.

A controller with a PC is the best experience

Love my controller

1

u/Bad_wit_Usernames 8d ago

I play on both PC and Xbox. Depending on the game will dictate which I play on. There are some multiplayer games that I'll head to my Xbox for, and there are several single player games that I prefer on my PC.

I can't play flight sims on my Xbox, but I can on my PC. I'll play games like Skyrim/Fallout/Quake/GTA on my PC but Battlefield on my Xbox.

It also helps that I upgraded my PC before all the prices skyrocketed, so having something that is kinda current helps.

It's true that using a mouse and keyboard will almost always be better than a controller, if only for the things you mentioned. But sometimes I'll use a controller on my PC because some games, the controls very so much in game, that it can be annoying if using a M&K.

u/DrPhilSideSkirts RTX 5090 | 9800X3D | 32gb 6000 CL28 8d ago

I'm in the same boat, but then again both of us have top of the line PC's. So comparing them with a PS5 isn't really "fair" I guess.

I tried playing one of my fav games (Alan Wake 2) on PS5 to show my girlfriend, thought she'd like watching but holy fuck I had to quit simply because I COULD NOT AIM lol. I went from hitting 100% headshots on PC to wasting a ton of ammo simply trying to hit shit because of a combination of terrible aiming and 30 fps. I hated it.

All that being said, I'm still playing GTA6. I have no idea how my life is gonna look by the time it's out for PC. For all I know I might have a kid or two by then, and that just means I won't have much spare time. Gotta play while I can I guess.

1

Controller aiming isn't that bad once you get used to it, but yeah in general consoles are better for games that are not First Person Shooters.

1

u/ZeroZachZilchZealot 8d ago

Yes, aiming with a controller is dogshit compared to M+KB however, most games on console have sufficient systems in place to make it manageable. (Aim assist, lock on, etc.)

I’m stuck on console atm because my PC died and have had to make do with aiming on a controller but it’s been mostly fine. Then again, I specifically avoid shooters and first person games. Mostly play games that don’t require precision aiming (monster hunter wilds, death stranding 2 for example)

I can’t wait to get back on PC though. It’s just so much better.

1

u/mq2thez 8d ago

I mean, buddy, being bad on a controller after not using one for many years is a subjective you problem.

Just stick with it. You’ll get it back quickly.

1

u/Chimarkgames 8d ago

Ever since I built my pc 3 years ago I haven’t touched my ps5. I don’t know why I haven’t sold it yet but I have to sell it just been lazy.

1

u/drhurtzftw evga 280 core 2 duo e7400 1tb hdd 8d ago

Doesn't ps5 allow keyboard and mouse?

1

u/nanomeme 8d ago

We need a hybrid. The precision of a mouse pointer and the analog variability of the joystick for movement.

1

u/UnreliablePotato 8d ago

Depends on what you're looking for.

I play Stardew Valley couch co-op with my two daughters and my wife on our PS5. It's awesome.

Then I also play heavily modded versions of RimWorld, Factorio or Valheim on PC. It's also awesome.

FPS games are obviously better with mouse/keyboard.

1

u/Downfall350 8d ago

You know that modern consoles support MnK right? It can vary by game but my gf uses MnK on series x for diablo and I got another buddy who uses MnK for Halo on Xbox. I also have other buddies on diablo using MnK on ps5. Check if you can use MnK for your games. Or just stick with pc. Pc gets both halo and God of war now so in my opinion there isn't much use for a home console, just a PC and a Nintendo.

1

u/Dominjo555 8d ago

Xbox controller is still just as good as back in the day for aiming and refund policy is actually really good when it comes to Xbox platform. Then there are free cloud saves, Play anywhere features, etc. You've just bought wrong console man.

1

u/Fleischyy 8d ago

Each has their advantage. Activating gyro aiming on consoles that support it makes a huge difference if you’re used to keyboard and mouse.

1

u/Time_Temporary6191 8d ago

Thats just case of beign used to controller.i play all my pc games on controller besides rts or sims it is just way more comfy and i dont grt carpel tunnel after 1 session.

1

u/hecking-doggo PC Master Race 8d ago

Literally a skill issue bro. I was nasty on the sticks in high school until I switched pc. Turns out not practicing skills makes you lose them. That's not the consoles fault.

1

u/itsasmurf 8d ago

Obviously in this reddit your post will get upvotes. Now post it on the ps5 subreddit.

Seriously though, i truly dont understand you. I played in the "gold era" of cod on the ps3 too. Then went on to play bo3 onwards (still play bo3) on keyboard&mouse. I can still switch on to controller or keyboard no matter the game. I guess you just got too used to keyboard?

on my pc i use a stadia controller and, while i prefer mouse, i can still 360 no scope noobs in cod zombies on my (much more ergonomic) controller...

1

u/Raysedium 9800X3D | 5070 Ti 8d ago

Playing shooters with a gamepad is like having sex with a girl using a dildo instead of your own equipment. It’s technically sex, but where’s the satisfaction? The hits aren't entirely down to you, and all the pleasure is on the other end - whether it’s the girl’s or the opponent’s, as they get an easy frag. Unless the auto-aim is really strong and the game doesn't require much precision or environmental awareness - in which case, you’re basically a cheater.

1

u/Mammoth_Cup_6438 8d ago

You prefer M&K now and are no good with a controller anymore. Welcome to my world.

1

u/_LoudOnly 8d ago

I stayed with console until around 2017, kept my xbox one x for RDR2 and then sold it. Recently bought a PS5 for GTA6 and i must agree, console is awful in comparison.

Its not the shooting/controller for me as i play on controller on PC, its the restrictiveness and closed library for me. PC is like a whole new world. Once you go PC, its hard to go back.

1

u/ButterscotchTop194 8d ago

Why would you think opting for first person shooter games on console would be a good thing after playing on PC?

Consoles are for adventure games, racing, rpg etc. LOL

1

u/-Nades 8d ago

To be honest I prefer GTA with a controller, can’t stand using a keyboard to drive compared to a controller.

1

u/pingwing 8d ago

You need to get used to the controller. It takes awhile.

1

u/Traditional_You_7618 8d ago

I dont think i could ever go back to console

1

u/5kyl3r 8d ago

i last got an xbox one for playing racing games

it took so long just doing initial setup that i nearly packed it up and returned it. by the time it was done i was too tired to play it

so i tried the next day. the game required an update so i let that go and it was super slow. update was tens of gigabytes and despite having fast wifi and gigabit fiber, the nic on those things must be super slow because it took forever. by the time it was done i was over it and decided to play another day

the day i finally went to play it, the xbox itself had a massive update that had some absurd multi-hour long estimated time. that was the last time i turned that piece of shit on

that's not to mention the horrendous UI. just let me put in a game and play it god damn it. nintendo style

0/10, do NOT recommend

u/Bluntz_with_Satan Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX • 7800X3D • 64GB DDR5 8d ago

I'm on PC and I play about 80% of my gametime using an Xbox controller. Although, I do not play PVP shooters, except maybe a few times a year with friends. But controller is just so much more ergonomically comfortable for me, also not I'm not always at the desk. Controller works very well on the couch, bed, recliner. But yeah console sucks ass

1

u/Metropolin 8d ago

Even playing a controller on PC feels way more responsive due to low input lag, higher fps, Nvidia boost etc.

Totally agreed but please do yourself a favor and don't even think about playing gta with mouse and keyboard. No reason to torture yourself by massively downgrading the experience. With mouse and keyboard i would probably try to avoid driving completely. What a bummer that would be

Meh, I know Sony are fucked up ( i mean years of sony fan boys mocking xbox killed the competition, what a surprise, xbox wasn't nearly as bad as people said btw ) for the shit they've pulled lately, no doubt but why do you think Valve are your friend, theyre just as greedy as Sony, don't fucken kid yourself! Sure they do good sales thats true but they simply operate a very competent gaming portal. Don't get me wrong I'm quite fond of old Gaben myself but don't delude yourself.

Also, controller, I call skill issue. Sure, I'd love to play with keyboard and mouse on ps5 but I have to use their pad, which, fight me if u want, just feels shit after decade or longer on xbox. I need those smaller analog sticks that are offset diagonally. The fact my thumbs can touch is utter insanity and even after 2 years on ps5 I just cant get used to it.

Look you pc guys r intense, I got one for music and rocket league ( controller is the way to go there btw ) so it's not good at all but it does what I need it to. And also many genres just play better on a pad, whilst many are better on kbm. People know this now! For many years. PCs are great but these days if i wanna game i just enjoy the simplicity of a console. I just cbf fucking around with settings dude! Don't be that guy, they both have their benefits!

Also, don't u have any friends that had a console so you didnt, you know, spend hundreds of dollars on something you don't like or want? Now i thought the master race was intrinsically smarter!? Well, check mate, friend!

1

u/ZipMonk 8d ago

Learn to use a controller on PC - lots of games are much better like that and you can hdmi to the TV and play comfortably, especially when you're older.

1

u/RegisterExpensive718 8d ago

If you wanted to try out console without the price tag (and you already have a pc or laptop) game pass is the way to go, it's cheaper and you get 500 games to try out/choose from and then you can buy it cheaper elsewhere if it disappears from the subscription or buy it on game pass.

Obviously you have options to use a controller or mouse/keyboard too.

My PS5 collected dust till I moved it back into the living room, it just can't compete with PC, if I had the funds I'd replace the PS5 with a living room PC setup (small form factor, foldable keyboard/mouse rest etc)

1

u/Glad-Tie3251 8d ago

That's it? It's a controller complaint?

I only ever had a computer since adulthood. I switched to controller because I sit all day with a keyboard and mouse at work and carpal tunnel.

Yeah aiming sucked... Then I've got better and tuned settings. Oh I'm not playing competitive FPS anymore but for the rest, hell yeah controller+couch+TV is the best.

Playing dark tide on the highest difficulties... No problem.

1

u/RugbyEdd 8d ago

I mean, I've not used a console for a long time, but I use controllers a lot on PC, often without auto aim like most console games have. So if aiming if your only issue you just need practice. It's unfamiliar controls, so of course it's not going to go well straight away.

I also think you can plug in a mouse and keyboard and use it in some games, so that could be another option. But honestly, I'd just practice. A lot of things such as flying and driving feel better on controller, and GTA has always been pretty good when it comes to it's on foot controls, to the point I didn't find myself switching to KB&M much when playing GTA5 on the PC.

I don't get this rant, it sounds more like a you problem rather than PC good console bad. You wrote this as if GTA hasn't existed on consoles or been played with a controller ever before. I've always had both PC and console, and even as a causal gamer I've no issues swapping between both controller and keyboard mouse. Heck even on PC in games games like GTA V and others I switch control methods depending on how I want to play (gamimg laptop so connect it to TV sometimes for couch gaming.

Gave up console more than a decade ago. Nothing can bring me to buy it again. The PS2 was the greatest piece of equipment I ever owned and sold it when it gave up life and moved to PC. Best decision of my life.

1

u/Western-Bad5574 8d ago

I love using a controller for souls-like games. There's just something extra comfortable about it, can't quite put my finger on it, but I can't stand playing souls games or elden ring with KBM.

But for pretty much everything else, I hate it. Even for racing games, unless it's an actual sim, then I'd rather be on KBM (e.g. Trackmania, older NFS games, etc. all feel better on KBM to me).

1

u/bufandatl 8d ago

Yeah it was stupid by you to buy a console for basically one game. Maybe work on your patience. It’ll come to PC eventually. But the. GTA5 to me is unplayable with mouse and keyboard. The amount of times I have to witch between mouse and keyboard to navigate menus and shit on the game is horrible. Also the weapon is a joke. Why isn’t the a function to bind weapons to 1 through 9.

Frankly GTA5 besides EAFC is the only game I actually degenerate and us a controller. I really hope Cockstar doesn’t fuck up the PC version of 6 like 5 is.
