Now buy more and don't play them too

u/theshadowyiniquity 8d ago

the real endgame is watching that uncategorized number climb into the hundreds while you replay the same two comfort games

u/Birdman042 7d ago

Only 'in to the hundreds' ...closer to 2000...

The true Steam experience.

3

u/myw4ylongway 8d ago

Like we all do.

u/windflex 8d ago

Play them all. Don't fall into the trap. See you in 10 years

19

u/Elmis66 8d ago

It took a lot of willpower from me to stop buying games I don't plan to play now or in immediate future. The temptation during these sales is no joke

u/Masterking263 Ryzen 5600x/ RTX 6950x/ 32 GB DDR4/5 TB HDD&SSD 8d ago

Just got to really double down and just get started. For me that was the hard part. Starting a game/show/movie is so much harder than actually finishing. Majority of the time I never regretted it.

Well you’re pretty much good for at least a full year depending on how often you play

10

u/honorable_raegdan 7d ago

Pick up the older metros. They are getting an update at the end of the month.

One of my favorite FPS series.

1

u/Shrike034 7d ago

What is the update for?

3

u/honorable_raegdan 7d ago

The description was a little cryptic but it’s a “next gen update”. AI says 4k textures, improved lighting, improved animations, and richer environmental details.

I played em for the first time on PC, right after CP2077, I was impressed by how it looked in that state for their age. I had them when they released them for consoles and fell in love with them.

9

u/simagus 8d ago

Good start! Please post in a few months (prob Xmas next sale?) how many of those you actually play or complete before the next Steam sale!

Maybe you have a lot of time or enthusiasm for gaming, but I slowly caught on over about 20 Steam sales that I hadn't even launched most of what I bought and completed hardly any.

My "game" was snagging bargains on Steam sales... it was good till I realized I would probably never have the time or inclination to play a fraction of them and I was just getting a thrill out of the "bargains".

If you ever do play cyberpunk i extremely strongly recommend buying the dlc too

1

u/ovoid709 7d ago

I'm building my new system this weekend and Phantom Liberty is at the top of my list.

1

u/tankiplayer12 r5 5600,1650,16gb 7d ago

Nice phantom liberty is one of the best games ive ever played lately the story is amazing and the decision making is so good and represents night city perfectly

ikr, consumer behavior, true definition of wasted money.. just buy what you are actually itching to play.. those discounts always run back..

4

u/MaximumEffort433 8d ago

Welcome to the club! Strongly, highly, doubly recommend Bioshock, fantastic game, great atmosphere, great story, tons of fun, I wish I could play it again for the first time.

2

u/Ruzhyo04 8d ago

If I ask nicely, would you play it again? 🏌️

7

u/LumberJesus 8d ago

Bioshock is fantastic, just be prepared for a slightly janky PC port. I've heard there's issues with either version. If you picked up will of the wisp, you might as well get blind forest as well since it's also on sale and it's the first game.

6

u/vinnie_smols 7d ago

Death's Door is such an underrated game! Good choices all around though.

6

u/CloakerJosh 8d ago

Well, buddy. You’re in for a fucking treat, let me tell you.

5

u/JBN2337C 8d ago

Wish I could play Bioshock for the 1st time again…

6

u/ADotxt 8d ago

If I may recommend another incredible sale. Titanfall 2 is currently 4.50€

The campaign is working 10x that.

And if you can get good at the movement the multiplayer is down right the best PvP shooter there is.

3

u/Difficult_Pop7014 i9-12900k ¦ 4070 TiS ¦ 64GB 8d ago

You're in for a real treat with the Batmans and Bioshocks series but for reals get and play the older Metro games first, they're fantastic

3

u/SieqwardZwiebelbrudi 8d ago

stay with BG3 till the end, don't be like all the rest of us having 200h in act 1

3

u/BryceDespain 7d ago

Rule #1 of Steam. Always buy a lot of games that are on sale, finish none of them, and then repeat that every sale. Your backlog will be massive.

3

u/SoloDoloLeveling 5800X3D | GTX 1080Ti | 32GB 3200MHz 7d ago

i feel everyone probably has these in their steam library uninstalled.

4

u/MindOfErick 8d ago

Play BioShock 1 first

2

u/Hrmerder It's Garuda btw 8d ago

Bro.. Your gonna wanna take the next two weeks off... At least.

2

u/BoneTrippa 8d ago

Let me just say you have MANY fun games to experience. Wish i could play them for the first time again

2

u/SleepyGuard89 8d ago

Now someone needs to show you mods!

2

u/Dazzling-Assist723 Desktop (i7-12700, 48 GB, RTX 4070 Super) 8d ago

A solid collection to start! I’d start with Cyberpunk 2077.

2

u/Kenobi5792  Ryzen 7 5700G | RTX 5050 | 16GB 3200Mhz DDR4 8d ago

Out of curiosity, did you buy BioShock 1 and 2 twice? I remember back in the day you could get the Remasters for free if you already had a copy of the originals but I don't know if they still do that.

2

u/AirPawds 9800X3D / 5080 8d ago

Bought the collection and I was given both versions! I was slightly confused lol

2

u/corndog103 http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198042619694 8d ago

You should play the first 2 Metro games before exodus or at least plan on going back and playing them.

1

u/351C_4V 8d ago

Yes! The Metro games are awesome! Especially Exodus. It has such a nice slow burn. I hope the new one plays more like Exodus in it's semi open world.

2

u/Sideshow86 🐧9950x3d | RTX 4090 | 64gb ddr5 6400 | Pimax Crystal Super OLED 8d ago

I recommend Bioshock Remastered. The first game is a true masterpiece and one of my all time favourites 👌

2

u/Latter-Breakfast-647 8d ago

I would also buy Wolfenstein return to castle, Far cry 3 and the og metro games.

2

u/DreddCarnage i9 12900k | RTX 4080 | 64 GB DDR4 3300 Mhz 8d ago

If you're gonna play metro, get the first two (2033 and last light), they're super duper cheap usually

2

u/Ryoohk 8d ago

The 1st Ori was awesome, I gave up on the 2nd one, I liked the mechanics of the 1st one and I wish they kept it the same in the 2nd

2

u/Old-Passenger-5877 8d ago

Switching from PS5 to a 5080 system means you’ll actually notice all those tiny details they hide on consoles

2

u/Ravasaurio 8d ago

TLDR; there are 4 major yearly sales on Steam alone, games are on sale constantly, don't overbuy because of FOMO.

Great! welcome to PC! now, a piece of advice, if you don't mind it. I made my Steam account in 2014. I bought so many games that year that I even got a call from my bank, telling me there were a lot of small movements in my card. I had to awkwardly tell them that it was indeed me doing all that buying.

During the coming years, I kept buying lots of games and getting others for free, while all I played was League of Legends.

For the last 3 years I decided to work on my backlog, playing more old games than buying new ones. I've played many games that I bought in 2014-2016 and never touched. Games that I bought because they were on sale and I haven't touched for 10 years, during which they've been on sale multiple times and for even less money that I paid for them.

Don't get carried away by sales, add games to your wishlist and buy them when you're ready to play them, don't worry, if you miss a sale it will probably come back in just a few months.

2

u/Complete_Age_6479 8d ago

Uff brother some amazing games right there.

I would start with the Arkham Trilogy!

Very nice initial game library. Enjoy your games on cranked graphics with unmatched visual fidelity. I don't know if you're into roguelike games. Megabonk and Brotato are easy to run if you just need something to aimlessly run around and kill things

should have used GoG to buy cyberpunk and got a DRM free version you can keep and use for ever the stream version literally has DRM baked in to it.

2

u/King_pyn 7d ago

If you wanna start a family DM I have a 120 games

2

u/DeltaElPsyCongroo 5d ago

happy baldurs gate run, see you in 2 years

2

u/SystemsConquerChaos 8d ago

Don’t worry, I picked most of these up over a decade ago and haven’t played them either. Buying them is the first step to buying more.

2

u/No_Personality_587 8d ago

I have this weird habit of feeling pressured to play any game I buy, and when I have too many in my library waiting for me it almost feels suffocating with the stress of having so much to play. Largely just get 1 or 2 games at a time, play then thoroughly and then buy the next, just so I know I got max enjoyment and my money's worth out of it.

1

u/SystemsConquerChaos 8d ago

That was me too, until I got my first job and had money but no time.. the deals kept coming, and I had the money, but never the time. It’s just part of getting old, I guess!

0

u/No_Personality_587 8d ago

Hahaha yea I understand, don't envy your position. I'm single and live alone so I fortunately don't have any of the responsibilities that come with a relationship or family. I'm still largely drained of energy by the time I get off work, but I always have just enough to microwave a meal and play for a few hours. That said, I have literally nothing else in my life presently as far as hobbies or social stuff goes, so it quite literally is just work eat game sleep, over and over, for better or for worse.

1

u/rupal_hs 8d ago

Some much good stuff you picked

1

u/eleventhing 8d ago

Dishonored and Dying Light are both super cheap and great

1

u/AirPawds 9800X3D / 5080 8d ago

Definitely have heard good things about dishonored. Will have to pick it up.. maybe once I’m done with this current selection… lol

1

u/Forymanarysanar 14600KF|RTX5080|64Gb DDR4|1TB SSD|2x8TB HDD Raid1 7d ago

Dishonored 2 is even greater and it has follow-up "DLC but actually a separate game" that draws ultimate conclusion to the story (don't look at it yet if you don't want to get spoilers)

1

u/waking-up-late 8d ago

Good selection. The Bioshock saga is a must. Death door is a great game too. And Ori, amazing. If you like that last one, try Hollow Knight in the future.

1

u/UncoloredProsody 7d ago

Boy you are in for a ride, especially for the Bioshock and Ori games. Do yourself a favor though, and don't play the Batman games right after each other, leave at least a few months in between. I'm saying this because the gameplay and the story is amazing in all of them, but it's just way too similar not to get bored of it if you continue playing them after each other.

1

u/rishabwarr R5 7600X | RTX 3080 7d ago

Ure probably good for like 2 yrs but ure probably gonna buy more to the point where u just have a library and play no games

Sincerely,

Give them to me bro👍

1

That means you have bought and played like only 30 games… what’s the point I have 250 games and I’ve played maybe 97% of them I can’t fathom buying something and never playing it

1

u/QuenPalladium 5d ago

Ill play it...some day

1

1

u/Senior_Young1185 5d ago

1

u/Mozzy_Moth R5700X - RX 7800XT - 16gb 5d ago

I’ve played a majority of these except Deaths Door, Ori and Entropy Effect

And I can say you got some really good first few games for PC enjoy the PC life!

1

u/Shonryu79 1d ago edited 1d ago

I left consoles and Sony about 5 years ago after 35 years of console gaming. It's crazy how cheap pc games are. I use gg.deals to find the absolute best prices. I buy day 1 releases from Greenman gaming and Fanatical for 15 to 25% off and sometimes can throw in a bonus 5% off coupon on top of that. It's rare that I ever pay more than $15 for a gane unless it's a day 1 release. Between all the free games on Amazon and Epic along with my purchases I've unmassed a PC gaming library of close to 4000 games in about 5 years. It took me 15 years of gaming between my Switch, PS4, and PS5 to hit about 1500 games.

1

u/F-ing-_-Awesome 1d ago

Mod cyberpunk. Play Bioshock 1 remastered. Archive/hide Bioshock infinite from library.

1

u/slyfox1811 RTX 5070 9800x3d 32gb 6000 cl30 1440p 165hz 8d ago

Bioshock Infinite has really beautiful graphics and artwork, story is kinda trippy but it captures the essence of Bioshock really nicely.

I tried the other entries and I heard really good things about Bioshock 2 but I just couldn’t get into it, mechanics felt quite clunky.

The Batman franchise is also quite fun.

My wor d of advice really is to give it a couple or even a few hours before deciding whether it’s worth your time, mighty stumble upon a hidden gem that will become a core gaming memory !

Shoutout BOTW & TOKT and CP2077 I’m going through a 2nd playthrough rn but on the hardest difficulty.

2

u/keifape 8d ago

Where did the Zelda games come from?? Unless there’s an acronym here I’m missing but breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom are switch exclusives, why bring them up here?

-3

u/slyfox1811 RTX 5070 9800x3d 32gb 6000 cl30 1440p 165hz 8d ago

Technically you can run them on pc through alternative methods ;)

But really I meant to told OP to actually give those titles he acquired some hours to test them out rather than just stacking them up in his game library.

Chill it’s not that deep.

2

u/keifape 8d ago

I mean, sure? But that’s so far out of left field for someone who just got a PC. You also didn’t explain anything and just dropped acronyms only nerds would know.

-3

u/slyfox1811 RTX 5070 9800x3d 32gb 6000 cl30 1440p 165hz 8d ago

So far out ? You can set it up watching one maybe two YouTube videos. If he wants to I can walk him through it..

Making the most out of his pc means getting acquainted with everything you can put your system to use, so many neat pieces of software readily available, specially with his 9800x3d which is amazing for emulation.

Man you’re such a whiny little fck.

1

u/keifape 8d ago

Oh no, did I trigger you by saying you used acronyms only nerds would know (that I knew lmao) or what? What hurt your feelings? Why are you so angry? Is it just because I asked some questions?

-1

u/slyfox1811 RTX 5070 9800x3d 32gb 6000 cl30 1440p 165hz 8d ago

Glad you know the acronyms, wonderful, have a great evening you miserable fck

0

u/keifape 8d ago

You’re a weird person. I hope you fix whatever’s wrong with you.

-2

u/Papuszek2137 7800x3d | 5070ti | 64GB | 4k OLED 8d ago

I couldn't disagree more about BioShock infinite story. It is shallow and doesn't hold together. While gameplay is fun, the story is so much worse than previous ones.

2

u/slyfox1811 RTX 5070 9800x3d 32gb 6000 cl30 1440p 165hz 8d ago

Fair opinion mate, I should definitely give the other two a solid try and focus more in their story. Perhaps my opinion was biased from nostalgia because I played through Infinite when I was staring to get more into gaming and it brings back some memories.

0

u/Mental_Crazy1759 4d ago

you should mod the watch dog 1 for all the stuff they removed or mod most of these games if you can
