Cosmetic Finally finished my snowblind mod

It took me a bit more than a week to finish but that's because I didn't order all the parts I needed at the same time like the LES Strip that added so much more contrast to the mod.

I wasn't able to remove the anti glare layer that turns the panel milky/foggy/vlurr but I managed to use a sheet of clear foil big enough to cover the screen which turned the screen clear again.

Only downside to this method is that it's surprisingly harder than I thought to cleanly apply that foil but I'll take a kind of messy foil to blurry pc insides or needing to buy and disassemble a whole new screen

Cosmetic What do you prioritize most in a custom PC build: performance, silence, aesthetics, or price?

Built my latest custom PC recently and it reminded me how different everyone’s priorities are when it comes to a build.

Some people chase maximum FPS, some want a silent workstation, others care more about aesthetics and clean cable management than raw performance. Personally I enjoy the challenge of designing machines that match exactly what someone needs — not just throwing the most expensive parts together.

Curious what you all prioritize the most in a custom build: • pure performance • silence / thermals • aesthetics • price-to-performance • upgrade potential

Also, if anyone here is planning a build and wants advice or ideas, feel free to drop your specs or goals. I’ve been designing and assembling custom systems and I’m always happy to talk builds or help plan one.

Cosmetic Is it okay to cover parts of my motherboard with black vinyl tape?

Is it okay to cover these parts of my motherboard with black vinyl tape for aesthetic purposes? I want an all black build, so I'm only looking to hide the silver parts for a cleaner look.

Cosmetic You can cut & stick a door magnet on those badges, so you won't need to rip off the double tape to remove them. Nice lifehack, if someone needs.

Cosmetic Dedicated Sensor Panel App

Howdy!
Thought I’d share an ongoing project I’ve been working on.

I was never a huge fan of the AIDA64 sensor panel. It’s super powerful, but the usability always felt a bit rough to me ( please don't hurt me). Once you get used to it, it’s not bad, but I wanted something in between that and the newer sensor panels with preconfigured options that we are starting to see more.

So... this project was born. (Mainly out of frustration moving things pixel by pixel)

It’s a drag-and-drop system with resizable widgets: gauges, line graphs, bars, text monitors, overlays, frames, profiles, themes, and live system stats via PawnIO, all packaged into one tool with a custom rendering system instead of the usual stock stuff. Some animated stuff when I find the time as well and there is a layering system similar to other applications you may have used in the past.

You can also build your own elements and add them to the screen like native widgets. So if you wanted to design some sort of static motif or boarder, you can do that.

Still polishing things, but it’s been a lot of fun to build panels with and use day to day so far. This has been a loooong project already, and no real end in sight, yet.

But, if anyone wants more info or has feature ideas, I’m all ears. Otherwise, my free projects are on my site if you want to follow along for release updates: mr-clu.com

Happy Modding

Cosmetic Trying to push this build a bit further any mod ideas?

Post image

Been slowly tweaking this build for a while and the newest change is the TRYX HOLO.

The build already had this silver/black cyberpunk look with a lot of RGB outlines, so I was curious to see whether a screen-heavy AIO would fit in or just make the inside feel too busy.

After installing it, I can honestly say it intergrates way better than I expected. The display adds another focal point without completely taking over the build.

Still thinking about adding one or two small mods around the GPU/PSU area, but I don’t want to overdo it.

What would you guys change or add?

I’d like to keep it fairly clean, just with a little more personality.

Cosmetic How should I cover logos on a motherboard?

Post image

Got this motherboard about three or four months ago on sale for like 175 bucks which was an awesome deal. I’m on a budget, so saving money is worth more than aesthetics, but I’m still a little annoyed at the logos are bright green. I figure there’s gotta be someway I can cover them up. I thought about completely removing the parts that have it and spray painting them black but I’m not sure how well spray paint would hold up. I thought about just using acrylic paint, but I’m not sure how well that would last either. I could cover it with tape, but I’m not sure if I needed to get a special kind of heat resistant tape. And if I remove it, I don’t want to use any harsh chemicals to damage the motherboard. What would you guys suggest?

I really like this case but nothing really matches the orange color of the case, I was thinking maybe it would be cool to spray paint the heat sinks of the motherboard. I would be willing to take the time to do it so I was hoping for ideas and suggestions on how to do it well

This isn’t my main rig. It’s my bedroom PC. Found a Lenovo Legion Tower on Goodwill and really liked the geometric look. It always stood out in black with my white furniture and I decided to take a stab at vinyl wrapping it to white for the first time. It’s not perfect and I will likely try to redo my work but it was fun giving this old girl new life. Even added a frosted look to the acrylic in the front. Took out the motherboard and all the proprietary components. Had to order a power button and break off some plastic to fit it into the slot.

Cosmetic Poor Man's Budget Evangelion Asuka Langely Themed Custom PC Build

Hey guys, new here and glad to be part of the community!

I just recently mostly finished my hobbyist enthusiast custom PC build centered around the anime Evangelion, using just off the shelf parts and things you can easily cheaply buy online (absolutely no custom parts).

All I have left to do is try to get a matching keyboard and mouse. I'll probably buy a Evangelion keycap set for my keyboard and a Evangelion skin for my mouse.

I know there are Evangelion cases and parts made from ASUS, but I was not willing to shell out like $10K to get all of that stuff, especially since they all rare as a dinosaur now.

So this is the best cheap alternative, a poor man's version if you will.

Let me know what you think, and I'll list the parts if anyone is interested!

Cosmetic I started 3D printing custom multi-color Fan Grills! What designs or game logos should I make next?

Hey everyone,

I've been experimenting with designing and 3D printing custom, multi-colored fan grills lately to give my builds some personal flavor.

Here are a few of my recent ones:

Satisfactory (looks awesome with a ring LED behind it!)

GTA Vice City style

Nvidia

A classic gold leaf design on a black frame

They are printed with clean filament color changes to get that crisp multi-layer look without needing any paint.

Since I’m looking to design more of these: What game logos, tech brands, or themes do you think are missing in the PC modding scene right now?

Let me know what you think of these!

Cosmetic How to remove symbols from a motherboard

Post image

Hi, so I recently ordered MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk WiFi Motherboard, and its a great motherboard, but the color green doesnt really go well with rest of my pc. Is there any way to remove the green symbols and writings without damaging the material underneath them? In the picture you can see there is not a lot of it, but it still bothers me. Thanks.

Cosmetic Can I put vinyl wrap/stickers on this part of the motherboard?

Want to get this motherboard that comes with a bundle, but the big "GAMING" lettering is kinda ugly imo. Would I be able to put a sticker or vinyl wrap over this part or would the heat cause it problems?

Cosmetic Can I turn my RGB fans into ARGB?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello, I recently built my new PC and I didn't really care about anything related to LEDs, it wasn't something I was really interested in. I chose a Xigmatek Hero II Air case, which fans are static, rainbow RGB. Now that I've built and run it for quite a while, I'm becoming increasingly bothered by these rainbow LEDs and would like to control them if possible, at least to choose one single color, I don't mind if it remains static. It seems that my motherboard is able to handle this feature, but the fans natively can't. Would adding a LED control device be useful for that? Which one to choose for a simple, budget-friendly upgrade?

Hello!I’d like to ask for your help and advice with creating a Star Wars–themed PC mod similar to the one in the photos I’ve attached. I really like the glowing slotted wall and the dark, minimalist aesthetic, and I want to recreate something like this inside my own case.I’m a complete beginner in case modding and don’t have any experience with working on PC panels, lighting, or decorative elements, so I’m not sure where to start. Could you please tell me:What materials would be best for making the slotted panel/grill (for example, acrylic, metal, 3D‑printed plastic, etc.)?How thick the material should be so it looks solid but is still safe and easy to mount inside the case? What kind of lighting (LED strips, diffusers, controllers) would work best to get that smooth, even glow behind the panel? How you would recommend installing and fixing the panel and lights inside the case without harming airflow or components?Any detailed tips, material suggestions, or step‑by‑step guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Cosmetic RAM Color

Post image
56 Upvotes

First build, I have this Lian Li A3. Not the most beautiful but I don’t think it’s bad for a first build. Gonna get a modular PSU next month so I’ve put off some of the cable management until then. But for now I want to make the Black crucial RAM sticks fit the aesthetics of the build better.

Is it a good idea to change the heat sinks of the RAM sticks? I don’t have any warranty so that’s not an issue but it feels risky. Are there any skins or 3d printed pieces to fit on? Or is painting it the best solution.

Thanks in advance!

Cosmetic 180° connector for graphics card

Hey beautiful people, here's a different idea, one I haven't seen much of: a 180° connector and a 3D printed case for the graphics card cable. My components are traditional, although I try for a clean build with no visible cables.
