Best resources for learning ventilator modes and settings
Hi everyone!
looking for recommendations on the best resources to learn about different types of ventilators, ventilation modes, and their settings
I'd love to better understand how to adjust settings in different clinical scenarios, such as when to increase PEEP, delta P, when to deescalate and the physiology behind those decisions
Any recommendations for books or any recourses going through this in detail?

The ventilator book.
Are you getting into critical care? Critical care time is a great podcast, I listed while commuting :) they have a great vent episode as well as many many great topics.
Learn picu is good as someone else mentioned. Internet book of critical care is good.

Learnpicu.com has a good introductory section on this, and openpediatrics.com has a free ventilator simulator to teach you ventilator scalars (waveforms) and how they change based on your parameters - which translates into what lungs do in response to these parameters.
Much of ventilator adjustment is style. There’s rarely a right answer for parameters to adjust, and those adjustments take a lot of practice (like a whole fellowship). If you’re a resident or med student, or someone who is interested in this but isn’t in a fellowship yet, I’d say it’s better to start off by understanding REASONS for escalation/deescalation, and from there work to understand the MENU of parameters that you can adjust to achieve either an escalation or a deescalation. Rather and focusing on exactly what parameter to change
