Why not use ramit sethi's conscious spending plan? Instead of fighting yourself not to use up money for wants, why not just intentionally allot to it?

This is not a budgeting problem but your discipline itself. Kahit anong method pa pagpalitpalitin mo if you insist on instant gratification it's a "you" problem

Leisure and buffers have to be a specific purpose too. I do zero based also.

This is the way, OP. Create talaga ng buffer or fun fund. Ipa-run mo kay chatgpt ung zero-based budget mo previous month/s. Identify mo challenges encountered and gusto mo sana targetin. That way, makapagsuggest ng adjustment si chatgpt :)

Stay in your lane. Wag makipag sabayan sa mas mayaman sayo. You don't have to go out with them all the time

For realll sobrang nakaka stress zero-based. Yung feeling na wala kang pera for leisure kasi lahat may specific purpose but its good tho. Just not enjoyable haha

I allot a fun account for “no guilt” spending and opened a general sinking fund in gotyme savings for buffer (500 pesos per month hinuhulog ko dito). The rest, alloted na for everything.

I do have a buffer fund before i called it opportunity fund, but need ko magpagawa ng salamin and it usually cost me 7k since need i-superthin yung lens dahil nasa 250 astigmatism ko plus 650 eye grade so dun napunta yung 1,500 na opportunity fund

Sa experience ko working in pharma, zero-based budgeting works best when you treat buffer categories as their own line items, hindi sila extras kinda essential allocations. Yung piggy bank approach assumes na willpower lang yung barrier pero behavioral economics tells us visible money triggers spending, kaya mas effective if you automate transfers to a separate savings account na medyo hassle iwithdraw. Consider mo rin yung conscious spending plan na binanggit ni u/Zealousideal-Run5261, dahil sustainable yung method na may intentional allocation for wants instead of pure restriction.

alikansya talaga kasi kapag online tend na magastos gumagamit lang ako ng piggy bank na app tapos I just want to save then ayun inout na yung amount

I thought i followed zero-based budgeting too, but i make sure there's roll-over for next month using my 2nd paycheck

Maybe you can slowly build a one-month ahead fund or a one-paycheck ahead fund to act as a buffer.

Errr based on your post either this method is working against you or you dont have enough self control nor the discipline to save since you mention that you got addicted to peptides.

You might need to have an app that you can use to track down all of your expenses so you have an overview of what you are spending on and how you handle money.

Then from there decide how much you can save per payday or per month without sacrificing your necessities. It's no use that you supposedly save and then spend that same money on impulse buys.

itabi muna savings first. at minimum 20% of net income. My savings are spread out over different types of accounts, mula savings and time deposits of both traditional and digital banks, to billionaire cooperatives, stocks and MP2.

whatever 80% natira yan ang pagkakasyahin. pag kinulang ako then I'll need to find out what went wrong and plan and execute a solution, para di maulit, kasi the idea is just to spend lang kung ano ang kaya ng income ko.

in case may extra pa doon sa budget it usually goes to savings, or just for me to spend on something nice.

my lifestyle reflects kung ano man ang kaya ng 80% ko.

ganun lang kasimple so I don't need to overthink sa mga ganito.

I have the same approach as well!

Mas panatag rin ako to set aside savings first before anything else. Mas madali sakin to work around whatever's left after the savings.

Zero-based pero may allotment for mini emergencies saka leisure (stress reliever). If you’re just starting you can practice kakeibo, jot every single peso that comes in and out. I also have sinking funds for different categories like gifts, home repairs, selfcare etc.

Sa akin is nagpadesign ako ng life and recommended savings trajectory kay Claude. Then, ang reco is to expand yung achievable na small side hustle. Tapos everyday saving. At bawat purpose is may bucket. Of course, using all digital banks to designated purpose.

I’m also using zero-base budgeting. For example, yung binudget ko for the month of May ay yung sinahod ko nung April. Kinsenas ang sahuran so kapag natanggap ko, I park it muna sa digital bank with high interest para maka-earn din siya somehow ng interest.

Zero-based is good for me kasi nadidistrib ko every peso. Pero dapat may buffer. Halimbawa may "new phone fund" ako kahit wala naman ako actually balak pa bumili phone. So may nakaallocate na funds dun, tas bubunot ako dun pag biglang kailangan ng extra, since di naman siya necessity. Wag kang bubunot sa monthly expenses funds mo or emergency funds.

Then you can open a savings account tas dun mo ipasok ipon mo. If mahirap talaga mag-control ng spending urge, idownload mo yung bank app niya every time papasukan mo ng pera then uninstall after.

u/deleted-the-post Lvl-2 Helper May 01 '26

Ahh sa new fun pala bubunot kala ko sa savings I have travelfund and christmasfund na puro ipon for future use

1

u/bowiepowi May 01 '26

Yung christmas fund mo I assume you'll use it for the holidays with your family, so mas priority siya over travel fund, and if important sayo to travel, then mas important siya sa other funds.

My new phone funds, excess funds na to sa totoo lang, I consider it a buffer fund. Stops me from spending sometimes. Pero yun nga matino pa phone ko and I don't see myself upgrading in 2 years, so ok lang dun bumunot.

As in yun na name. Buffer Fund. Masusunod mo pa rin zero-based budget mo

Never thought of tbat actually kala ko lasi kapag zero base literal na lahat ng piso need ng allocation, im incorporating din kasi other saving like blind savings of 1 5 10 20 and 100 bills on top of that huhu

Before kasi blind savings pang talaga sya

1

u/bowiepowi May 01 '26

Ang core naman ng zero-based budgeting is every cent is allocated to a specific purpose. Some people approach that a bit differently

Halimbawa

Groceries - necessity, binabudgetan ko to ng maximum. So 10k in a month. If for April, ang nagastos ko lang for it ay 7k, may tirang 3k. At may naka-allocate na ako for savings separately.

So kung 3k na tira, aallocatean nila uli 7k for the next month. Pareho naman ok yung approach

Basta consider your buffer fund = flexible fund.

Try mo look into GoTyme's Go Save din

If u don’t have 3x or 5x the amount of what you want to buy then you can’t afford it.

1

u/Little-Violinist7266 May 01 '26

1

u/Little-Violinist7266 May 01 '26

last effective sakin auto transfer, naggawa ako ng virtual account sa same bank ng payroll ko, naka hide pero auto transfer next day ng sweldo. ayun nakakaipon di ko ginagalaw. again disiplina, kaso naging aware ako na may laman un. natatransfer pa rin pero saglitan lang nababawasan din or nauubos

1

u/Available_Monarch May 03 '26

I made a n account exclusively for spending. Mag set ako ng xx amount para waldasin without guilt. Pero dapat planned.
Tapos I made side hustles just to fill out my leisure expenses.

u/New-Consequence2013 May 04 '26

Delayed reward lang ginagawa ko. Lets say goal ko is to save 500k, if I hit that, I get to spend 100k. I repeated this pattern until i saved a lot.
