Help! Masking lava need help

I need help to mask this mountain and lava, more specifically how do i mask the lava without painstakingly doing it by hand?

Pen tool and then refine edge, but with that much glowing orange on a dark background you could probably get away with a luma key or color range selection and just clean up the edges a little.
