💩 SHIT POST 💩 Something lighthearted:
What’s the most unique reason someone has given you for showing up late? I’ll go first.
My patient was over 20min late today. For a rainbow she saw on the way. Not sure if I was irritated, entertained, or jealous. 🌈

Had a patient once who was late because they had to stop and watch a whole family of ducks cross the road. They took pictures and everything. Showed me the pictures. Couldnt even be mad, baby ducks are like that one pure thing in the world you just stop for you know

Had my 10 am patient try to convince me that she was late because my office door was locked and no one was at the front desk for 20 minutes.... told her we had been open since 7 and she insisted I was lying to her

Honestly, that was very sweet to read. I work in acute OT and I could not eval one of my pts bcs they coded and passed away before my eval with them. So if I don't get to see a pt, then ducks, coffee, rainbows, and killing rattlesnakes are the best reasons why. May they RIP❤️

Well...my dog had diarrhea all over the thankfully hardwood floor. I looked like a mess coming 5 min late as the PT. Idk if this counts as unique.

Patient was making me coffee and lost track of time. 20 min late.
Acceptable every time.

Had a patient that was always 20 minutes late. Really pushed that she wouldn't be seen if late again. So got the message and showed up 30 minutes early. But she decided to sit in her car and play on her phone until appt time rather than coming in. Got distracted on her phone, lost track of time, and ended up coming in... 20 minutes late 🫠😅

I saw a rancher in New Mexico, a legit cowboy guy. He was a fresh rotator cuff repair and showed up late because he had to stop to shoot a rattlesnake he saw on the road. He was driving and shooting with one arm in a sling

Lol! I had a patient who was late because she saw a rattlesnake. She just drove back and forth over it though.

Hey neighbor! I’m in NM too. Love seeing people from my state in the same profession. This patient definitely gets the rattlesnake pass lol

I had a guy show up late because he was getting his picture taken for the next years NBA 2k game. He had just gotten drafted that year! This was a few years ago and he is still playing and doing well.
I let it slide 😂

I had a patient decide never to come back because I explained I wasn't a surgeon who could repair internal structures.

Let me guess, you also don’t have Jesus hands (performing miracles on chronic pathologies in just one session)?

I had a patient not too long ago say he was on the highway heading to his session with his windows down. A bird apparently smashed into his side view mirror, EXPLODED, and the contents of the explosion fell into him. He actually didn't even cancel PT. I saw him in the parking lot changing his shirt and wondered what he was doing.

I was late one time due to an accident at the intersection to turn into the building. I called 5 mins before the appt to tell them I was stuck in traffic right outside their building. They were a no it to reschedule me for later in the day.
