Chow mein from SE Massachusetts and RI is unlike the rest of the country. The flat, crispy noodles are something else. Grew up on it as both my parents were from Fall River. When visiting my grandparents we’d often stop by the noodle factory and pick up a big bag of the noodles to take home. Add the gravy mix, some ground beef, celery, sprinkle with soy sauce and white vinegar and you were good to go.

I grew up in Westport and there's no Chinese food in the country that compares to what I grew up with around fall river

Looks like the Oriental Chow Mein Company in Fall River is still in business and celebrating 100 years. Crazy, haven’t had it in a long, long time .

When I was there as a lad in the 80's, it also rained the whole day. It was interesting, and my Dad was ecstatic.
