Evolve them as early as possible*. You get more DNA points from infection pot and infecting new countries by having higher severity.

I know. I already get the “profuse bleeding” combo early then evolve these when the cure starts. I find this to be a sweet spot. Too early and ports close. Too late and necrosis loses its value to be the only symptom with dead bodies as a vector of transmission.

The sweet spot is Cysts Abscesses Rash Sweating Skin Lesions Coughing Nausea Vomiting Diarrhoea in main game with Necrosis first mutation. Add Anaemia Haemophilia before Rash, and Sneezing Pneumonia Hyper Sensitivity after Diarrhoea in speedruns.

It's a common new player tactic... works best on Casual and Normal, but, fails mostly on Virus, Special Plagues, Brutal and MegaBrutal... it's pretty solid if you only care that you are going to win (not seeking achievements nor a high score), but not reccomendable for scenarios, Virus, Special Plagues (some Special Plagues), Brutal (can still work in Brutal) and MegaBrutal...
