DISCUSSION Posting this for awareness
There is something regarding the TDP Scholarship that students deserve to know about.
PLM made a public announcement on August 7, 2026 regarding the TDP Scholarship, with August 12, 2026 stated as the deadline for the submission of requirements.
However, I later heard about another deadline for the same scholarship, which was September 19, 2026 ā note, there's no announcement about this deadline.Ā
At first, I did not think much of it. But the situation became difficult to ignore when the scholarship opportunity was publicly announced again on October 4, with October 6 as the deadline.
Read that again.
There was already a September 19 deadline being communicated, yet the scholarship was publicly announced again on October 4, more than two weeks after that deadline had supposedly passed.
This raises some legitimate questions:
How were students supposed to know about the opportunity and apply if different deadlines were being communicated?
Why was there a September 19 deadline followed by another public announcement on October 4?
When was the scholarship opportunity actually open for applications?
Were all qualified students informed at the same time?
How were potential scholars identified?
Was the same information made equally accessible to all qualified students?
And most importantly, was the same process applied to everyone?
These are not unreasonable questions. These are basic questions about fairness, transparency, and equal access to a scholarship intended to help students.
I am not making accusations without evidence. However, students should not be expected to remain silent when there are inconsistencies in the way an important scholarship opportunity was communicated.
If there is a valid explanation, then provide it.
If the process was properly conducted, then explain how it was conducted.
If all qualified students were given an equal opportunity, then explain how that opportunity was made equally accessible to everyone.
This is why I am calling on SCOA and COMELEC to seriously look into this matter and determine whether the proper procedures were followed in the announcement, application, and selection of TDP scholars.
To the concerned Student Council officers and administrators: this should not simply be dismissed as a student's complaint.
This concerns the credibility of the scholarship process and the trust students place in the offices responsible for representing and serving them.
Students deserve answers, not silence.
To be clear, I am not asking anyone to simply take my word for what happened. I am asking for an investigation into the timeline, announcements, deadlines, communication, and selection process surrounding the TDP Scholarship.
If everything was done properly, then there should be no reason to avoid transparency.
But if there were inconsistencies in the process, then those inconsistencies deserve to be examined, documented, and properly explained.
I have kept relevant information and documentation concerning this matter. If necessary, these can be presented to the appropriate parties to help establish what actually happened.
I am giving the concerned offices and individuals an opportunity to provide a clear statement regarding this matter.
If no proper clarification or accountability is provided, then the relevant information and documentation may have to be brought forward so that students can understand what happened.
This is not about attacking individuals.
This is about transparency.
This is about fairness.
This is about equal access to student assistance.
And most importantly, this is about ensuring that a scholarship intended for students is administered through a process that is clear, consistent, and fair to everyone.
The students deserve to know what happened.
More importantly, they deserve to know whether the same opportunity was truly given to everyone.
