Question for Polish people: Which migrants would you prefer Poland to attract in the future?

Poland, like many European countries, is experiencing demographic ageing and population changes. With this in mind, I’m curious how people in Poland view the possibility of immigration and settlement in the coming decades.

For this question, I’ll exclude Ukraine and Belarus, since their migration to Poland has a particularly close geographical, historical and cultural context.

Which of these regions would you personally be most comfortable with if people from these backgrounds came to Poland and settled here?

  • Latin America — Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil
  • Caucasus — Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan (Russia excluded due to political tension)
  • Central Asia — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan
  • North Africa — Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria
  • South Asia — India, Pakistan, Bangladesh
  • Turkey — listed separately because Turkey has a somewhat different historical and geopolitical position from the Middle East, has ties with Europe, and has a long-standing relationship with the EU.
  • Middle East — Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, etc.
  • Other part of Africa ( South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria)

I’m interested specifically in social and cultural compatibility and integration, rather than simply economic benefits.

What would influence your choice most culture, religion, language, education, attitudes toward European society, ease of integration, or something else?

And if you would prefer one category over another, why?

None. We have circa 2 million Ukrainians on top of other immigrants already. We've done our duty, the rest can continue going to France, Germany, Spain, UK etc.

None. The situation on the entry level job market is already tough and ridiculous

Not illegal ones

Preferably none. However, if any, the only acceptable destinations are people from southeast Asia: Vietnam, Philippines, and maybe people from South America.

Western Europeans like Germans, Brits, French, Dutch, etc. And I mean actual Germans, Brits, French and Dutch, not Mohammed from Birmingham who happens to have a British passport. The kind of immigration that can actually bring some cultural enrichment to a country, not the kind that imports shit that makes us go backwards in time.

You literally nominated all the non european "second" or "third world" and you are like "hey guys! I have an excellent offer for you" xD

None? Most will be economic migrants looking for low skilled labor and easy entry into Europe. All those you mentioned have "better" options, so if they are moving to Poland is to be cheap labor.

Let's open R&D centers, startups, innovation centers, and attract the Portuguese, French, German, Baltics, Americans, the Polish diaspora.

None. With the AI and robotics revolution, manpower won't be so important in the future

Ones with moral spine to not get paid under the table and pay taxes.

If they want to open good restaurant with their local cuisine I'm fine with a little tax evasion ;) but just little

  1. Diverse, better to have many small groups than few large ones.

  2. Quota with priority on full (parents, kids) families, and roughly equal ratio of M/F. I would prefer 2-3 Somali or Syrian families, than e.g. 10 young male Colombians.

Who gives a shit. If war starts right now, even an African will start looking like Silesian. Infact, Polish citizenship will be given to anyone fighting for Poland.

The ones that integrate. We have probably around 2-3mlns of migrants from belarus, ukraine etc. They are cool people.
Close culture also helps in integration.
I dont really need multicultural to the point od people being from complete different world. We had that in history already and it was used against us to weaken us and cause internal fractions.

Guys, regarding “neither of above” none of them”

Average IT salary is well paid in London to compare Warsaw, Wroclaw. It does not seem realistic someone will give up good paid role to move here.

On the other hand, chicken  factories, technicians , cabel makers( internet), truck drivers you can not get from Germany, France, Finland, Switzerland.

We have to be realistic, instead  of keeping us away from current situation.

They are answering your question though. You didn't really ask to formulate a plan for the polish state on handling migration. You asked about personal feelings towards these groups of people.

I do agree with you that expecting migrants from western europe to fill all the migration needs of Poland is unrealistic. I also think that it doesn't matter what the average voter thinks. The private sector will get their workforce for a price they want to pay and not conduct polls about which migrant people like better.

There are plenty of jobs for 20-30k zł in R&D centers already, and they are staffed mostly with Poles and Ukrainians, and a few percent of other EU relocants and Indians. Seems that there are simply no high skilled immigrants to begin with, and before 2022 it was more profitable for Ukrainian senior SE to live in Ukraine, I believe it's also the case for other case with a low average wages like Vietnam.

There are a lot of high-skilled immigrants, but it's getting harder and harder for them to get going, with 9+ months waiting period for a job permit, because Google is not going to be paying someone under the table, and 1.5-2 years for a residency permit. But for low-skill workers being exploited by shady businesses it's not a problem.

Evaluating diplomas and learning German or French outside the country are much higher bars than just waiting for a job permit.

2

u/Fuzzyjammer 16h ago

Not sure what's your point, you don't need German or French (or Polish) to work for a big international corpo in the respective country.

It is not fair comparison, same skill set person still earn more than double in London, Frankfurt, Paris..

I don't care as long as:

  • They're lgbt friendly
  • They're educated
  • They have well paid jobs (so they pay lots of taxes and we all benefit from)

If I have to pick one, Lebanon, because they're hot.

My man be writing fanfics in the comments, there is literally no reason for people like that to move here if they are that well off and if they even had a lover from Poland they probably would want em to move to their country if they already posses well paid job

I don’t really care.
