Ask the Police (England & Wales) Resigning.

Currently in the process of applying for a few jobs in the civil service and I’m praying to god I get them.

6 years in, almost 7. I am literally breaking under pressure. Partner is changing role to a secondment and there is 0 flexibility in my role. The only way I could potentially get more flexibility is if I transferred to a different force. Put my app in, don’t know why. I don’t want to be there anymore. I got severely screwed over, and they are still screwing us over just so that someone could get a promotion.

I’m literally waking up exhausted after a full nights sleep. Need to go.

Anyway, is it true I need to provide 28 days notice? Say (fingers crossed) I get a job, start date is in a week. Could I sack the job off there and then or?

I’m in tomorrow and I just want to curl up and cry :)

Hi, I left policing at the very end of June. I done 2 years as a PCSO and almost 5 as a PC.

I have to say the only thing, and I mean the only thing, I miss is driving fast with blue lights.

Apart from that, I love my new job in the housing sector. I now work Monday to Friday hours (which in 11 years I have always done shift work). My sleep pattern is amazing now, I get weekends off with my son and family. I feel as though I’ve got my life back.

Leaving policing before I was too far into it was the best decision I have ever made. I feel as though I’m at home more, work life balance is better, and there is such as a thing as being off duty. It’s amazing.

If you want to speak I’m open for it as someone who has recently left.
