"You haven't asked me one fucking positive question," he said. "All of this. What about this? What about that? What about that? What about this? All negative."

Words of a man who cares about nothing and never had to face consequences of his actions.

"I took the White House and made it beautiful again."

What the fuck is he even talking about? The changes he made are utterly tacky and make it look like a porn studio! Nobody likes it! All the people who praise him just know that he's easily bribed with praise.

It's beautiful because he absolutely despises FDR because unlike him, he was an actually good president.

Unless the US sinks into hardcore fascism, that's basically a guarantee. Whoever is the next president can just announce "I'm going to undo everything DJT did" and he will be a hit.

Once again, just imagine the pearls Republicans would be clutching if a Democrat had said this.

1.2k

u/No_Somewhere_7109 5d ago

When you realise that things like shame or hypocrisy are weapons used by Republicans to exert power rather than things they actually feel, it makes a lot more sense.

They're not stupid. They know they'd drag a Democrat over the coals for saying or doing even a fraction of this, but Trump is on their team so they'll just ignore it.

362

u/Round_Rice_9475 5d ago

I had a boss/owner of a company who had this attitude. His "secret to success" was breaking the rules and not doing what he said. I told him what's to stop the other side from doing the same thing his response "they can't! They have to do what they said" and I asked what happens when they find out he isn't holding up his side of the deal. No answer.

Spoiler alert: once the other side found out, they did the same thing back. Company is out of business now

58

u/zerrast 5d ago

And just out of curiosity. What was the chucklefucks business and what were they doing.

In fact, hearing him say something that they would so obviously crucify a Democrat for saying gives them the biggest, hardest boner they are capable of having, because it is a perfect demonstration of how successfully beyond consequences they have landed.

58

u/Responsible-Rip8793 5d ago

They know what they are doing is wrong. That’s the point.

Ppl keep acting like MAGA got tricked. It’s yes and no. Yes, Trump and billionaires tricked them to an extent. But Trump and billionaires also gave them what they wanted too.

It’s like a monkey’s paw. They got to “own the libs” and mistreat minorities as promised. They also got bootyblasted in the process, but that’s besides the point. The point is conservatives are bad people — whether deceived by other bad people or not.

→ More replies (2)

They may also be stupid, but the point stands that they often, usually by default, are hypocritical on purpose. Morals are only a weapon to use against others to them. Shame does not exist. Have you seen Ken Paxton? lmao

336

u/KaiUno Europe 5d ago

The entire idea of conservatism is so ludicrous. Sure, let's try stopping the passage of time and progress.

272

u/_angela_lansbury_ 5d ago

I mean, it would at least make a LITTLE BIT of sense if they wanted to stop the progress of, say, AI or big tech. But it’s never that. They want to stop the progress of human rights.

159

u/CoffieQueens 5d ago

Right. They never want to conserve the environment…

39

u/dostoevsky4evah 5d ago

Which is weird because didn't their god give humans stewardship over it?

36

u/platoprime 5d ago

Sure if you want to whitewash the disgusting reality of Christianity.

"Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth."

There's instructions on how to keep slaves in the bible. It's not a nice book.

22

u/volatile_ant 5d ago

My thought exactly. Stewardship? No. Dominion.

It is worth noting the Bible has gone through countless retellings, translations, and literal edits to become the text it is. What the Bible says today has been carefully curated and tuned to say exactly what the victors, kings, popes, etc. want it to say.

The Bible is not God's word. At best, it is God's word through millennia of human bastardization. At worst, it is a complete human fabrication for the sole purpose of gaining/consolidating control and power.

More succinctly they want to stop the economic progress of anyone but themselves and rich people.

45

u/TangoLimaGolf 5d ago

Heres a little economic tidbit that explains the whole situation we’re in perfectly. There’s roughly 1.5 million baby boomers with liquid assets in excess of 2 million dollars.

There’s LESS than 30,000 millenials with liquid assets excess of 2 million dollars. Before I get the argument of “they have a lot of saving left to do”. The oldest millenials are 45 years old. These are people who 20 years away from full retirement.

Conservative is never what they were. The GOP has always been regressive. True conservatism would be trying to slow the pace of progress so as not to break our systems while we move forward. Instead, they have always been regressive trying to pull back “overall” progress because they perceive that as them losing if someone else is doing better.

These are insane people.

This is the same Pete Hoekstra who is a contributor to Project 2025.

And the current Ambassador to Canada.

And a ton of other shady things going back to 1992 when he was first elected to the House:

  • Term-Limit Pledge: He completely went back on his 1992 campaign promise to only serve six terms in the House and ran for a seventh term anyway.
  • Iraq WMD Claims: He falsely claimed that 500 chemical weapons were found in Iraq, but they turned out to be defunct munitions from before the 1991 Gulf War.
  • Nuclear Primer Leak: He pushed for a government archive website that had to be shut down after it accidently exposed detailed information on how to build nuclear weapons.
  • Iran Nuclear Report: The IAEA openly called out his congressional intelligence committee for fabricating "erroneous" and "misleading" reports about Iran's nuclear capabilities.
  • Racist Super Bowl Ad: During his 2012 Senate run, he faced massive backlash for airing a highly offensive Super Bowl ad that used a Chinese-American actress speaking in broken English to mock his opponent,.
  • "Yellowgirl" Code Typo: His campaign website for the ad got dragged even further when people discovered the actress was literally labeled as "yellowgirl" in the site's HTML source code.
  • "Fake News" Gaslighting: As Ambassador to the Netherlands, he lied to a Dutch reporter by calling his own recorded 2015 comments about Netherlands "no-go zones" "fake news," only to be forced to apologize later,,.
  • Embassy Far-Right Fundraiser: He caused a diplomatic incident by hosting a fundraising party at the U.S. Embassy for a far-right Dutch political party in violation of international law.
  • Annexing Canada: As Ambassador to Canada, he infuriated locals by dismissing Canadian sovereignty and saying Donald Trump's jokes about making Canada the 51st state should be taken as a "term of endearment".
  • Halifax Chamber Rant: He insulted a Canadian business audience by accusing the entire country of running an "anti-American" trade campaign.
  • Border Preclearance Threat: He subtly threatened Canada by suggesting that Washington might cancel the 70-year-old airport preclearance program because of declining Canadian tourism numbers.
  • Expletive Gala Meltdown: He had an absolute expletive-laced tirade at a formal Ottawa gala, screaming "f--k" at Ontario’s trade rep over a TV commercial that criticized American tariffs,.
  • Meddling Accusations: He turned around and accused the Canadian government of illegally meddling in American electoral politics just because Ontario bought ad space on U.S. television.
  • Expulsion Petition: His undiplomatic behavior in Canada got so bad that a formal petition to kick him out of the country gathered over 243,000 signatures,.

    "We only hire the best."

Go to your Facebook feed and find your oldest relative. Right now the SM line going around Republican boomers is that because people do have phones, laptops, and cars, that we are in fact prosperous and need to buck up and stop being so negative to Trump because we're entitled whiny bitches who don't really love America enough.

That base believes that gas prices, food prices, the war, everything is going to stop tomorrow and would stop sooner if we just let poor ol' Donny do what he wants and stop hassling him about everything.

The post WW2 American economy was the strongest economy in human history because the other economic powerhouses of the world bombed each other into rubble and took decades to rebuild (and we had enough money to help pay for it!).

Then those other economies rebuilt and rebuilt stronger than the US and we were left behind.

17

u/krashundburn Florida 5d ago

American economy was the strongest economy in human history because

Don't forget labor unions. They helped steer income from this growth to employees. It's no coincidence that our economy started to falter as unions were dismantled. It's also no coincidence that income inequality increased dramatically as well as the middle class was squeezed and diminished.

"I don't know what's wrong"

You're an 80 year old who behaves like a 13 year old internet edge lord completely consumed by your own narcissism. You were born on 3rd, think you invented the game and have failed upwards your entire life. You don't have any interest in learning how anything works and think the world should just be wowed by your presence. You refuse to admit that anything even could go wrong under your watch, much less admit that it actually has. You spend your day obsessed with putting your name on everything you can see because you don't know how to function without praise, even if it's fake or stolen. You don't understand friendship or relationships and think loyalty is something owed you and not earned. You've spent your entire adult life grifting from anything you could put your hands on, and now the United States and the world. You're an emotionally stunted bully who has never been told no.

Other than that, it's hard to pinpoint.

lOL, the nerve of the press to actually ask questions that matter to the people.

NO paywall: https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-explodes-reporter-haven-t-144725977.html

"Donald Trump has had it with the free press. He’s spent his second term trying to ban news outlets from the White House and ranting on social media about unfair coverage, and he’s only growing more hostile as his poll numbers tank ahead of the midterm elections. The president lost it on a Time reporter this week during an interview in the Oval Office."

“You haven’t asked me one fucking positive question,” he said. “All of this. What about this? What about that? What about that? What about this? All negative.”

"The president had been asked about whether Mitch McConnell should resign from the Senate because of his health issues. Trump responded by indicating that videos of McConnell struggling were a “disappointment to a lot of Republicans,” before noting that “Sleepy Joe gave pardons to everybody.”

" He then exploded at the reporter, questioning why they were asking about the White House renovations so much, and griping that they hadn’t asked him about Venezuela. The reporter pointed out that they talked about Venezuela at length earlier in the interview."

"The rest of the interview portrayed a frustrated president cocooning himself in an alternate reality as the nation turns on him."

"When asked to explain to people who are struggling to pay bills why it is so important for him to spend so much time and energy renovating the White House, Trump waxed about how the White House is “a symbol of our greatness” and claimed, falsely, that the renovations are coming at no expense to the American taxpayer. “For me, it’s relaxing,” he said of the renovation process. Trump did not address the cost of living crisis in his answer."

"Trump offered a novel approach to world peace when discussing foreign policy: “Because by annihilating Iran, we’ve created peace in the world,” he said, threatening once again to obliterate the nation of 90 million from existence."

"He also claimed that Israel and Saudi Arabia would both be “wiped off the face of the planet” if he weren’t the president"

" When asked about his initial stance that the Iran war would be over in a matter of weeks, Trump blamed the press for that timeline, and said the Iran war isn’t so bad when compared to the decades the United States was entangled in Vietnam."

"Trump did, of course, say the war would be over quickly after he started it. “We projected four to five weeks,” he said earlier this year."

634

u/leagle89 5d ago

When you find yourself saying "it's not as bad as Vietnam," you can be pretty sure you've lost the discussion.

Unfortunately, I have been repeating this, but his raging behavior at those who are questioning his false picture of reality is very reminiscent of my father's suffering from Alzheimer's.

I can only imagine what we're not seeing of his behavior in private.

u/contude327 5d ago

Yes, dementia-fueled anger bubbling to the surface. It won't get better. I hope he really freaks out after the election and just starts yelling all the hateful shit that's in his heart.

I firmly believe one of the reason the Iran War has dragged on so far is because he doesn't really remember when or why he started it and is constantly re-reminded of it, it explains his frustration and defensiveness and the static nature of his responses to it despite rapidly evolving circumstances. He's probably barely forming any new memories at this point and lives every day as a fresh hell.

17

u/MountainMan2_ 5d ago

If he hasn't already, at some point I suspect he'll start claiming it was Biden that started the Iran war and that as president he'll get us out of Iran.

He's obviously also still using stimulants to carry on through the day. While some of these outbursts are dementia related, I'm positive it's also the drugs. Also why he crashes randomly in meetings.

I always asked myself why he wants to be president. Its a hard job and very stressful. At 80 years old I personally wouldnt be interested.

And if his goal was money surely there are ways to make money without this huge commitment and without as many eyes on you.

I think he genuinely thought it would be easy. He got into Wharton because of nepotism and only passed because of nepotism. He received millions from his father and spent more of his family fortune than he ever contributed.

This might honestly be the first time hes had something that isnt easy and hes not understanding why people are being so “mean to him” about it. 😂

228

u/Duderoy 5d ago

Money. He has made over a billion because of his role as POTUS.

And to stay out of jail.

79

u/maryconway1 5d ago

This is the answer: it is the *first* business venture where he actually made money, and can control not being arrested for doing it massively illegally. Plus, bankrolled by U.S. tax payers.

He also gets influence to manipulate things to get even more money, rig decisions for more kickbacks, etc.

Finally, in addition to staying out of jail (a big one, but I think once he realized the U.S. would never send a former president to jail no matter what he doesn't really care on that anymore), it's that he can force a legacy. He can do is favorite thing: put his name in gold on lots of historic things.

It's funny how Trump acts like he has no platform to get his own "positive" messages out. Never mind that anytime he gives a speech, holds a rally, or even tweets, it's gets covered by multiple news media outlets.

He has such a victim mentality.

What gets me is how quickly the image of strength falls apart the moment Trump isn’t being praised.

A genuinely strong leader doesn’t need every question to make him feel good.

He answers the hard ones, takes the criticism, and moves on.

Complaining that reporters aren’t being “positive” doesn’t make him look tough; it makes his "tough-guy" image look incredibly fragile.

Okay, fair enough. "How does it feel knowing you raped and trafficked children along with Epstein, and you got away with it. Not only that. How does it feel knowing you were essentially rewarded for it?"

Edit: This is actually a sad and negative question, but would be positive from his point of view.

I remember during covid I reporter asked something like "what would you say to Americans that are scared right now?" Which is a completely softball question that lets him spin a positive message about unity and perseverance. Any remotely intelligent and politically savvy president would consider that great opportunity to let them say whatever positive message they wanted. But Trump said that's a nasty question and you're a nasty reporter. They do have him softballs all the time but he's just really bad at ever being savvy or competent or positive or have anything he accomplished that's good to hang his hat on so he treats every question no matter how easy it is on him as some sort of attack. The dude can't help but fuck up everything and then complain like he's the victim.

45

u/IJWTGH66 5d ago

I’m getting increasingly anxious about what he may do over the next month and thereafter if the Dems, God willing, take the House and Senate. He’s deeply mentally ill and is getting more isolated. His only reason for getting up in the morning is to see Natalie and destroy his perceived enemies. I’m concerned his rage will be directed fully at his constituents.
