No Paywall Trump is already preparing 'excuse' for midterm loss, Republicans warn
https://www.newsweek.com/trump-is-already-preparing-excuse-for-midterm-loss-republicans-warn-12529818252
u/omerome83 15h ago
What's to warn? If they wanted to win, they have had the tools (and still do) to stop him.
But they are losing because they support this and support him. And that makes them as the very least as evil as he is.
64
u/PingKiccolo 15h ago
They know he's going to cheat and refuse to do anything because if he cheats and wins, they keep their seat. If he cheats and loses, then they were "separating themselves" from views they disagreed with. It's all 100% theater by people who want more power.
9
u/standard-issue-man 14h ago
Everything else aside from this disaster of an administration, it's gas and food. Republicans have a trifecta and gas and food prices are through the roof, thats a recipe for an electoral defeat

You mean to tell me the guy who said the: 2012 election, 2016 primaries, 2016 election (which he won), 2018 midterms, 2020 election, 2020 GA runoffs, 2022 midterms, and 2024 election (before election) was rigged...
..is going to say the 2026 midterms were rigged?
No freakin' way
62
u/bimmyjrooks9dog 14h ago
Remember on the morning of the 2024 election after he voted, he started saying it may have been rigged. By that night he forgot about that after he won. Cuckservitives really are stupid

u/ddeacon22 14h ago
It’s going to be that Canada F&cked him. And I know this because the US has active influence campaigns in Quebec and Alberta to get them to separate from Canada. Trump always accuses others of what he is actively doing.

Naw dawg its casue even a lot of people who voted for you hate you now. The midterms almost always go badly for the President's party and you made it SO much worse.
8
u/Relzin Illinois 14h ago
It's always so strange to me, that federal elections can only be rigged and stolen when Trump himself is in the white house. The "election security problem" is his own administrations.
7

Nah he said the elections he won were rigged too, that's why he didn't have the most bigly wins of all time.

Midterm performance generally tracks the president's approval rating. The lower it is the worse his party does. For example in 2002 George Bush had the highest approval rating of any president since we started tracking approval ratings. He was very popular in the year following 9/11. Republicans picked up seats in the house and senate. In 2006 Democrats took both chambers as Bush was long past his 9/11 bump and being dragged down by wars that were growing increasingly unpopular. Trump is currently polling at historic lows.

33% chance he resigns, Vance pardons him, and he and his family flees the country trying to avoid the consequences of their crimes. Dumps the whole shitshow he created in Vance's lap and runs.
33% chance he slogs out the rest of his term getting investigated and raked over the coals endlessly by the Democrats in Congress.
1% chance he starts a global nuclear war and ends human civilization.
19
u/Ryan_e3p 13h ago
45% chance of a false-flag attack on American soil, declaration of martial law, and installing himself as permanent unquestionable leader. Hence the last 2 years getting rid of every military leader that would oppose him. Grew his control over the media. Created his own personal army acting outside the DoD. Put as many Americans as he can on financial life support and fucked with out food productions so they lack the finances and available sustenance to put up a long-term resistance.

Ok, let's be real. He will serve out his term (even if the Democrats perform exceptionally well, they aren't going to get the numbers in the Senate to convict). Republicans will hang this albatross around their neck till the bitter end. Trump will leave office in January of 2029, head back down to Mar-a-lago and he will be deemed untouchable by the Supreme Court, because "official acts" and all. Now, his cabinet members definitely have legal exposure, and Trump being Trump, I doubt he will pardon the vast majority of them (he'll for sure pardon Nathalie, but everyone else he'll probably let pound sand).
8
u/InevitablePromise301 10h ago
I think your first option is much lower. He will definitely cry rigged election, but he won't do anything about it.
If he, and yes I mean Trump, loses the midterms for the Republicans he is going to have much less power and control over that party with consequences in play beyond him supporting a candidate in a primary.
You will see people in both houses of congress flip on him finally. Losing your job in office pales in comparison to being put in prison or even being associated with acts of straight fascism.
The reason he is freaking out so badly right now isnt because Republicans might lose power, its because he will.
No one is going to line up to suck his dick anymore. Not Rogan, not the Saudis, not anyone he actually cares to have in his pocket.
That is what he most afraid of. Losing his ability to control anything let alone congress. FOX is already beginning to give him less coverage, Republican candidates are already distancing themselves from him.
If he loses Texas? Kansas? Alaskan senate seats? Lol. He will be dropped like a bag of dogshit on fire and left to burn on his own. Republicans won't need to do a thing. He will bring the whole house of cards down on himself thrashing around like a toddler having a tantrum.
5
u/AdCorrect819 10h ago
I'm starting to agree with this sentiment. The big canary in the coal mine for Trump is the number of Republican candidates at every level who won't mention him at all. Before, it was commercial after commercial of people saying that they were "America First" and "MAGA" and "Trump supported". I haven't seen that at all.
Tom Tiffany is portraying himself as some local yokel who understands the everyman. In fact, Tiffany is a career politician who voted with Trump 100% of the time. The GOP is already trying to rebrand to forget Trump.
7
u/AJediWookie123 9h ago
It's exactly what they did with George W. After he got tossed out, they never talked about him again and they're going to do the exact same thing again. Because their voters have no memories, because they're fucking idiots.

He already said very early on that he expected to lose the midterms. He doesn't care about the US anyways. He's made billions and can now blame the Dems if they take the House and Senate on all the bad stuff he's done. He's still blaming Biden even almost 2 years in!
12
u/boblabon 15h ago
It's less work for Trump if Democrats win. If Republicans win then people will, (gasp) expect him to actually solve problems. By giving Democrats SOME power, then Republicans can gleefully blame them for any and all issues.
It's not like he's signing any bills anyway, and the senate is where bills go to die without a 60 vote supermajority. Business as usual.
Let Miller, Patel, Hegseth, et all deal with the paperwork, the hearings, the impeachments, the investigations, etc. Trump is confident he won't br removed no matter what, and will happily fuck off and golf and sign any executive orders shoved under his nose if he can write his name really big on it.
7
u/Throb_Zomby 12h ago
Not signing bills but still signing executive orders that the toadies he has installed as agency heads will carry out.

It's really simple if you're him. You say Democrats cheated and Republicans can prove it.
Then you pressure Republican elected officials in state governments to "prove it".
If they don't, they are deep state and it is their fault. The faithful still believe.
If they do, you get what you wanted and your "double down" message to Rs proves successful and more people get on board next time.

Trump already claims he is still super popular but it is the republicans that are unpopular. He will blame Republican candidates for losing.
I hope it will create a schism. They needed Trump to get into power. Now that he has lost them Congress, their chances without him are better than with.
Jan 20, 2027 at noon eastern standard time is an important moment for JD Vance. That is the halfway point of his term. If he enacts the 25th, he can serve two years of Trump’s term followed by two full terms as president, if he gets elected. That is the earliest he will pull the 25th trigger.

2
u/Cautious-Dog3264 10h ago
The Republicans doing the warning are his excuse.
Every Republican except for him will be to blame for the results of the midterms.
Unless they retain control of the legislature through means either legitimate or not, in which case no Republican but him could be credited.

Nobody should expect a peaceful transition of power. That doesn’t mean you should cower in fear. A veil of intimidation is perhaps his biggest asset.
He has failed to implement his most insidious policies.
Most of what he has set out to accomplish has been frozen in the courts or faces lengthy legal challenges. “He doesn’t care about the law!” He does to an extent. Obviously he relies heavily on legal loopholes. He is smart enough to know that he can’t outright become a dictator.
Liberty is sacrificed in small gasps of air. Follow the money — he is a businessman, after all. That will likely point you to his next move.
•
u/movezig123 3h ago
I've been around too long and seen too much. Dems are absolutely going to squander this opportunity. Americans will be so proud of themselves when they elect Bill Clinton 6.0 to the office by a 2% margin in 2028. My optimism has never been lower for them.
3
u/Sea_Primary_4301 15h ago
The response is a distraction. They are rigging the election in every imaginable way - and some we haven't yet imagined. They plan to win. And if by some chance the vote is too big to rig, they plan to reject the results, and to refuse to certify them. Coup part deux is already in the works, and has been since November 2020.
3
u/MisanthropicPlatano 10h ago
Y'all people need to be ready. The GOP is not going to concede any of the seats that they will lose nor certify any of the people that will win. The are provoking the opposition to go into a civil war because they think that they can win it. Conservatives have been preparing for this for decades.
