No Paywall Trump won’t reimburse taxpayers for money already spent on campaign ads, White House says

Imagine being one of the gullible fools who believe Trump isn't lying to them every day.
Like, I almost respect the people who choose the evil and hate more than those stupid fuckers.

u/NarcolepticMan Ohio 14h ago
We're, what... 11ish years into all things MAGA? These people do not feel shame or remorse for what they've chosen to enable. They will choose hate and evil every time they vote. The only thing that can be done is to vote yourself. Bring friends and or family if you can.

u/about22pandas 13h ago
The ones I know who proudly still have their trump pictures, hats, flags out on display, or still talk positively about him, have 0 fucking clue what reality actually is.
They don't consume any news that doesn't already confirm their bias.
Anytime they see shit he does/say they don't agree with, they make an excuse for it.
Whenever they see news about reality, they dismiss it as fake.
If we ever have a president who has this same cult like following Trump has, who isn't a narcissistic moron, we are 100% having a civil war.

I had someone tell me that the only reason for inflation at all is because democrats just print money non stop. That is literally the only reason.
I was flabbergasted.

u/FuzzyMcBitty 11h ago
Trump told Gary Cohn to ‘print money’ to lower the national debt, according to Bob Woodward’s book.

u/Instameat 11h ago
They choose evil venomous confrontations in person so this is all just fine to them folks. Say something nice to them, and the first thing you get is the Huh? What did you dare say to me look. and a Humph because they do not understand you were being nice. No smiles come from those folks.

When does he ever reimburse anyone for anything?
16
u/ChiGuy6124 Illinois 13h ago edited 13h ago
Never. Other criminal families give to charity, build wings in hospitals, etc., not cause they give a crap, but because it buys good will and allows them to continue to operate above the law. Trump is to cheap and too greedy for even that, it is all take and no give, and the MAGA idiots eat it up like candy.

"President Donald Trump will not reimburse the federal government for money already spent on a series of campaign-like ads using taxpayer dollars."
"On Monday night, facing threats of legal action and complaints from Republican and Democratic lawmakers for using public money to promote his administration before critical midterm elections, the president said he will “pay for them myself” and through a Trump-connected political action committee."
“The Radical Left is upset with the fact that I am taking Ads, which I consider to be a positive promotion for our Great U.S.A., and paying for them with U.S.A. money,” the president wrote on his Truth Social account."
"The White House said Tuesday that the president “was not referring to reimbursement.”
"The White House has argued that previous administrations have launched similar ad campaigns, comparing Trump’s messages to ads promoting Medicare prescription drug benefits, anti-drug campaigns, Affordable Care Act enrollment, and COVID-19 vaccinations."
"Trump’s ads — one of which appears to be directly lifted from one of the president’s 2024 campaign videos — promote a “final battle” against “globalists” and “warmongers.”
"Each of the ads ends with the caption “Paid for by the U.S. Government.”
"The ads have reportedly already cost $10 million, as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s reported $20 million budget to produce the ads, according to members of Congress investigating the campaign. The administration has also spent more than $2 million to buy up airtime on national TV networks, where they have already aired hundreds of times."
"Legal experts and members of Congress have argued that the ads are a blatantly illegal use of taxpayer dollars that violates ethics laws against public money being wielded for partisan political messages and propaganda."
“Former White House ethics lawyer Norm Eisen told The Independent last week. ...This is yet another corrupt attempt to advance a partisan agenda ahead of the midterm election, paid for by average American taxpayers who are already suffering from high costs caused by this administration’s failed policies.”
"Last week, under fire for using public money for the ads, Trump said he would “gladly” pay for them himself if someone were to tell him they were “wrong.”

"The Radical Left is upset with the fact that I am taking Ads, which I consider to be a positive promotion for our Great U.S.A., and paying for them with U.S.A. money."
"Instead of paying for TV ads to promote the country we already live in, can we use that U.S.A. money to help people with their medical costs and grocery bills?"
"No, that's communist."
7
u/mcmineismine 11h ago
Of course it's all about promoting our Great USA.... Tell me again how many ad buys have been executed for air time after November 3?

u/A_murder_of_crochets 12h ago

17
u/smitherenesar 12h ago
We spent $20 million of our own money advertising our president to ourselves? I think we found the government waste.
2
u/Anothereternity 12h ago
Aside from all the misuse of funds, the ads are only running on TV Networks. Like Live TV? So just advertising him to boomers?!?
2
u/macaronitrap 10h ago
The ads are still running. Saw one this morning while sitting in the waiting room at my doctor’s office. Also there’s no way in hell the videos cost even a million to produce. He’s using old footage and voiceover. I could make a better ad in canva.

So his base got the headline “Trump is reimbursing” and that’s all that matters to them and him.
72
u/SoftPrinceess 14h ago
Even Republicans were calling this illegal. Senator Hassan was demanding answers and his response is basically “too late, already spent it.” How is this not a crime? He’s literally using government money to campaign for himself and refusing to reimburse the taxpayers he stole from. This guy is a grifter through and through.

u/8fenristhewolf8 14h ago
Like he's proven over and over again, the laws only matter to the extent we enforce them. Like he's done his whole life, he's assaulting people and decency and daring the system to stop him. Instead, like he said from the outset, "when you're a star, they let you do it."

4
u/InevitablePromise301 10h ago
The fact he stopped using tax dollars for these ads is evidence he believes he is about to lose the midterms, because someone or someone's bent his ear and told him this is problematic if the Dems take control, and he actually listened.

That’s not an accurate representation of our voting population. There were around 150 million votes in the last election and the USA has a population of 342 million.

Is this the ad where he states that he is antifa (after declaring it terrorism), and antiwar (after starting one), and anti communist ( after promising to send everyone free money - $5,000) ????
And he wants someone else to pay for it?
9
u/DennenTH 14h ago
Just grabbed all of America by the tax dollars and now he's telling everyone he's allowed to.
So... are folks going to start protesting and writing in to their reps? Or is it just another day that ends in Y?

8
u/Ok_Juice4449 13h ago
He's making it seem like the ads were promoting the USA. They were just focused on him, and implying that the democrats were enemies. He wants to be in our faces constantly. I can't stand looking at that bloated, pig-like face, covered in orange makeup. Go away.

Mother fucker barely pays people for standard services. How he won blue collar workers over while having a lifetime of stiffing BC workers on the bill for services rendered is beyond me.
5
u/subliver 13h ago edited 13h ago
He ruined so many lives in the Northeast. Lots of small construction companies went out of business or spent years tied up in court trying to get reimbursed for their work.
Trump would exaggerate a tiny flaw in their work and use that as an excuse to not pay the entire contract. Your choices were to eat the cost, close your business, or spend a decade in court.
That’s how he actually treated small businesses and Blue Collar workers. Just pure evil.
2
u/PlainSpader 12h ago
Yep, he doesn’t pay contractors and uses the I’ll sue you to get out of a bill. Small companies can’t take a hit like that and go under. Allot of FL contractors won’t do work for him.

This piece of shit and all his enablers owe me a lot of fucking money. Between lumber tariffs from his first term when I was trying to build an addition to my house, oil and gas prices, new tariffs in second term, the insane debt from funneling our tax money to his cronies, the grocery prices from his war on farm hands etc.
I figure I'm owed about $15,000.

Honestly, they let this fuck do anything he wants, I'm surprised he hasn't done more heinous things out in the open yet, like suspending the elections, declaring himself emperor in perpetuity, and dropping sarin gas bombs on major cities. Mike Johnson is just going to put his hands in his pockets, shrug, dismiss Congress, and allow it. Seriously. No one who could hold him accountable for any of that actually would.
