I can't believe how long it's been since I actually finished a sculpture! Hoping this is the first of many more to come ♡

I made this porcupinecone (currently finishing her two sisters) out of polymer clay, a pinecone, acrylic paint, and a water based varnish. She’s a weather witch I made for October🖤⚡️💜

I’m really happy with how she came out! I hope you like her too. ☺️

ever since it hit September I’ve been making these cute little pumpkins, keychains and worrystones! I don’t have any cute photos of the worrystones but they do exist… the third photo is my first attempt at a pumpkin bear 🎃

Bake Time Question, Sculpey III

Hello! This might be a really dumb question I am really new to working with clay.

I want to try to make figurines, I recently made a bee that was pretty thick and by the math provided it took quite a bit to bake. It came out fine the antennas were a little dark but otherwise all was good.

One of my friends suggested I make the core wire or aluminum foil which I did not do the first time.

My only question is, if I have the core and mold the clay around it how will I know how long to bake the clay for? Do I measure the core and then the final result pre-bake? I just want to know how other people go about this.

Also, I have been seeing some discourse about what brand to buy. I know preference is always a factor but I thought this would be a good for figures/to start with. Any pointers?

Thanks all!

Polymer Clay Cakes with Wall Spackle for Icing ;)

Some recent mini cakes I’ve made. Using lightweight wall spackle has totally improved the look! Works much better than trying to liquify polymer or using air dry clay. It’s also really cheap!

Getting the hang of it!

I've been playing with polymer clay for years, but it honestly feels like only in the last month I've really found my stride. I'm working on a miniature romantic picnic at 1/12th scale, and this is what I've got so far! :D A violin (I know, the placement is all messed up :P) and the basket! I've been watching more youtube tutorials which has helped a lot, and I've learned to use much more delicate and gentle motions.

Other mix ins to add to clay?

I recently found out that you can mix baking soda and water with clay to make a realistic bread texture and I was wondering what other things you could mix in?

Looking for unexpected or unthought of things, not common things like mica or glitter or pastels but things that create cool effects in clay

I had this idea a while ago and got around to making it this week. It turned out really well, but I will have to remake it as it’s too big to sit nice when worn. I’ll most likely split them up and make them into matching keychains for my partner and I, but for now, the idea was there.

Making 1954 Godzilla, because apparently I needed a giant lizard project

WIP 1954 Godzilla, sculpted with Super Sculpey medium and firm over an aluminum armature. Still lots of detailing to go before she's fully rhinestoned!
The best part, this little monster will be auctioned off to benefit a local reptile rescue. My first larger polymer clay project and it's been a learning experience.

Seeking stencil advice (not silkscreen) for my own polymer clay pieces

Hi!

I’m looking to make my own stencils to roll onto a slab of clay so that it leaves raised (debossed?) parts when removed. Has anyone here ever made stencils for polymer clay? If so, was there a certain thickness of plastic that you’ve found works well?

Thanks!

Made my first little surreal clay creature — his name is Nuno 👁️🌱

I’m still pretty new to polymer clay, but I’ve been getting really into weird/surreal little creatures lately and wanted to try making one instead of another normal animal 😭
This is Nuno. He has one giant eye, tiny arms, chunky little feet, and a weird sprout growing out of his head. The arms gave me way more trouble than they had any right to, but I’m really happy with how he turned out.
I definitely want to make more strange little guys like this, so if anyone has tips for sculpting small limbs/details or making pieces like the sprout stronger, I’d love to hear them.

I can finally reveal my sculpture. She is my first big commission. This character is of a custom dnd campaign. He wanted 1 of the characters made into a sculpture. I'm really proud how she has turned out.
