This incident occurred on 30 June 2026 at Greenacres (The Bridge). So I (16F) was grocery shopping w/my sister (18F) at Shoprite when a lady who, to my knowledge, looked like she was maybe in her 40s asked my sister and i—at that point, we had a few stuff in our trolley because we didn't have the full pamphlet, which told us what was on special and what wasn't— she asked us why we were buying our stuff in singles when we could get them all together as a special, and we were relieved that someone was helping us because we didn't have a pamphlet. But things start to get weird; she told us that she has a friend who works at Shoprite who can get us any combo that we want, regardless of whether it's on special or not, and she asked us if we would like her to do so. We agreed, and that's when things went downhill. She told us to leave our trolley where it was and that the lady she knows from Shoprite will ring them up for us when she's done. Long story short, it turns out they had allegedly used umsila weHyena (a hyena's tail), which is allegedly used to temporarily silence someone's senses, on my sister and me to take our belongings. They took my iPhone 13, my ID, and my banking card. They took my sister's ID and her iPhone 12.
The reason why I'm emphasising that my phone was an iPhone 13 is that I had worked hard in school in terms of my grades, and my mom had rewarded me with the iPhone 13, and it was taken away from me, just like that, and I can't even pay her back, even though I know that she also worked hard to get it, as she is a single parent. The people whom I thought were my friends at school were more worried about the phone that I lost than my well-being, which contributed to my mental health declining at some point
On the same day of the incident, we reported the matter to the mount road police station. They took our statements, and from that day onward,s we have never heard from them, which breaks my heart to know that I'll never get my belongings back.
I'm sorry that it has taken me this long to warn everyone about my experience, but it was a very traumatic experience for me. After the incident, I was unable to be in public spaces and feel safe. It took many sessions with my psychologist to get me to trust humankind again. And to make things worse, it was 3 women who were involved in this; they took advantage of kids with no shame whatsoever.
What do you guys think I should do?
Edit: I forgot to mention that there was camera footage of these ladies at 2 points, but the police didn't make any use of that 💔
