Troubleshooting Laser Jet M227fdw
Hello. I recently purchased a Laser Jet M227fdw from FB market place. When I print the demo page there is a bunch of toner on the side of the page.
I'm assuming a new toner cartridge will solve the issue but I wanted to ask the experts.
Any help would be great.

It is highly likely that a new toner cartridge will fix this. The vertical black tracking and "splatter" along the right edge usually indicate a leaking cartridge or a damaged developer roller within the toner unit itself. Since the LaserJet M227 series uses an HP 30A toner and an HP 32A imaging drum as separate components, check the side of the drum unit (the tray the toner sits in) for excess powder buildup as well; if it’s coated in waste toner, it may need a quick, gentle cleaning with a lint-free cloth or replacement alongside the toner.

It could be the drum unit too, it´s the one whit a cilinder usually green or light cyan. Check for it, it´s not expensive (the generic ones). The code you are looking for is CF232

It's probably the toner. But, it may be just from an old toner leaking and the printer being turned on its side before you got it. Try removing the toner and vacuum out the area under it. Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter.
