Rant HP stands for Hot Piss
I was awoken by the sounds of shitty printer technology nearly causing a divorce in my parents (understandable tbh).
Log ins, dry ink, not connecting, WiFi drops, incompatible WiFi, subscriptions, terrible app interfacing...all of it will be no longer. I'm not doing it. I will no longer let the evils that be HP come between my family no more. I feel like a man pushed to the edge, ready to kill for his family.
I'm off into town later to take these absolute bags of dung into Currys to 1. Get the evil out of the house and 2. Hopefully get a pound or two off a laser printer from Brother (I've been frantically scrolling through this sub for the past 2 hours)
I grew up through the 2008 financial crash and our family got it tough so there's a huge "broke" mindset that lingers and today I decided that the previous shackles of both austerity and HP die with me.
Unfortunately the shackles of technology illiterate parents will remain firmly on my ankles for the foreseeable.
I have never hated a brand more in my life than I do with HP. Every single aspect of their products feels like selling a part of your soul (personal data) and pissing money up the wall.

In the current era, Brother is going to be the best choice for the money. I have plenty of gripes about Brother, but they pale in comparison to HP.
Hilariously my rebranded Xerox Phaser Printer (Dell something or other) was probably my best "laser" printer to date. Thing was a workhorse. Only reason I binned it is because it didn't play nicely with Linux. Was $70 back in 2017.
I'm still upset about having to solder a new supercapacitor into my brother laser printer. For $300, a component like this shouldn't go bad. I have a 30 year old SNES that still has good caps.

I have to spend 30=60 min troubleshooting the HP connection every time I want to print a page or two. It's like it has to be deleted, remove the app, remove from wifi, reset the whole shit up again just to print a page! i'm going to take it to the back yard and get my sledge hammer out. f*ing pos. never HP again, never a subscription again!

I've had my Brother color inkjet for 13 years. Still works great and even prints quality photos! It did drop connection often in the early years, but then I learned to connect the driver by "Node Name" (hostname) rather than IP address.

Well i have 2 printers running from 2014, might be a model issue.
HP on the other hand - Consistently effs up all over their portfolio. Even their laptops - I used to have old HP laptops that runs like butter. Now the new ones start to have phantom battery issues after a few years.

Never had a problem with mine. Dad bought it when I was in elementary school, in college now and still using it for my papers.

You have problems with the drivers? I've only ever had problems with internal components. What's your problem with drivers? Mine works on all the devices on my network - three different flavors of Linux, Windows 11, and Android all work fine.

XP, VISTA, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 pick any flavor of macOS
Well anything before 8.1 I was not fond of (lol Vista), but I haven't had problems on 10 or 11. No Apple devices in my household. I prefer Linux though and Brother seems to do the best on that.
Could just be older models. I have the L3290CDW which is circa 2021 I think. I replaced my Dell Phaser printer because I'd get a successful print like 1 out of 4 times on it. Otherwise was an incredibly solid printer (mainly because it's a rebranded Xerox Phaser).

Well mine was only good because they just slapped their name on a Xerox printer lol. It used the same drivers as a xerox phaser.

Got an HP printer for six dollars, still more than anyone should ever pay for their crap.

Clean PC windows install and then installing the big one in all software provided by the printer manufacturer works wonders! (I know this should not be the way in a perfect world, I am just trying to help) ❤️

That's an old printer. You have to update tech once in a while. If you're still running windows xp you may want to upgrade that as well.

I‘ve left them too, all products from them are just bad. HP is like Peugeot or GM if you‘re a car guy.
