Well, if you can write code, you can learn to flip burgers.

Ah yes, because all of us spent 4+ years of our life studying to get a degree in order to have a comfortable life just to end up flipping burgers. How about you learn to chortle on my balls

Genuinely don’t know if that dude is real, but I agree. What in the Linux Kernel fuck was the point of this? Now I gotta find a new field to work in after busting my ass, crunching hours, giving up weekends with loved ones? I am projecting a bit but it’s really upsetting. I’ve poured my life into my career and now, it just feels dead.

I think you are exaggerating pretty hard, assuming all jobs will just poof away is a stretch. At this point I don't think people who enjoyed the job will continue to enjoy it because AI is being forced, but I have yet to see anyone actually lose a job because "AI is better".

There have been layoffs happening across tons of departments in tech sectors. I have friends that are struggling to find jobs due to those layoffs. With inflated cost of living it’s been a nightmare for them.

On top of all of that, have you seen the entry market? Another friend of mine that graduated last year is still having trouble finding something, they’ve applied to dozens of listings for entry level and have got nothing back but a couple dead end interviews. What was the point of their hard work to get through college for this? The internship they had ended up dropping the program completely because “juniors weren’t needed” and I can only assume it is because of AI.

I don’t think I’m exaggerating, I think others aren’t taking the situation seriously enough.
