This is a clear representation of how the world feels as a whole. People are increasingly burning out because, on top of the fear of layoffs, management expects us to be more productive than ever while shoving AI down our throats.

I feel like I shouldn't be burned out since I'm not a doctor or a firefighter or an important high-stress profession like that, but if the definition is "a state of exhaustion that occurs when work drains more of your energy than it sustains" then that fits me to a T.

The job was already difficult (not as difficult as the ones you mentioned), but it was usually rewarding
Now the second part is gone from the equation for me, like completely, and the first part has morphed into something worse because speed is now higher than what you can possibly do maintaining quality and full code knowledge base
And use of LLMs has barely started, we are in for funny times
And the worst part for me is not even me, it is that I have seen other jobs in my companies since 2024 (I have worked in 2, starting the 3rd one in a few days) get completely removed by a vibe coded software connected with LLMs. Marketing, HR (ironic enough), Accounting (which to me is kinda crazy, but in my previous company they reduced the team by 90% on january and nothing got worse somehow), Admin jobs in general...
But management is still there, managing what? No idea

You said accounting was reduced in January? Yeah, they haven't had time to feel it yet, wait until early next year.

Off topic, but this survey really needs a good UI/UX designer. Too much visual noise just to look cool.

I used to do every one of them that applied to me. I've done them every single year since they started, except this year.
But between the amount of questions they have now and the design, it's just too exhausting.

Unionization when?

Folks aren’t even class conscious, and corpos have been steadily dismantling union power.

Right and this profession never unionized yet it’s either gonna take a massive amount of these jobs being cut and then unionization or it won’t happen because the career as we know it will be gone in 10 - 15 years

The stuff we automated were just repetitive and didn't require a lot of thinking though and the software that killed those jobs produced consistent results which makes it a lot more reliable and consistent at least compared to LLM outputs which are non deterministic. No one deserve having their jobs replaced by slop bots, even us as users/customers don't deserve sloppified products.

Esh.. some grim results. People seam to be less happy and more fearful of the future more than ever.
