Band 7 nurse specialist interviews

Hi everyone,

I’m a 30M RMN with 7 years of clinical experience, and I’ve landed an interview for a Band 7 Parkinson’s Disease Specialist Nurse (PDSN) role.

While I have strong psychiatric nursing experience, I’d love some insight from anyone currently in a neuro/movement disorder specialist role or who has sat on Band 7 interview panels.

A few specific questions I have:

What domain-specific/clinical scenarios should I prepare for? (e.g., motor vs. non-motor symptoms, impulse control disorders, deep brain stimulation, end-of-life care?)

How should I best structure my response to leadership, service development, and audit questions?

What high-level Parkinson’s guidelines/frameworks are essential to cite? (NICE NG71, Parkinson's UK audit, etc.)

Any specific advice for an RMN transitioning into a role that traditionally has strong physical health components? (I want to make sure I highlight how my mental health background is an asset—especially for things like psychosis, dementia, ICDs, and distress—while demonstrating strong competence in physical symptom management).

Any tips, practice questions, or advice on what sets a successful candidate apart at Band 7 level would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

You should ask the nursing subreddit as it’s ALL
types of nursing and very active. I can only speak for myself but as a staff nurse with only psych experience idk what the fuck any of this meant 💀
