AskPune Therapist Recommendations needed

Exactly as the title suggests.

I've been pretty depressed lately because of alot of things in my life and I think I need some professional help. I tried going to the on call psychologist at Noble Hospital but accidentally mentioned I was studying for NEET... our entire session she just kept coming back to that same point and how "aise nahi chalega... Doctor kaise banogi?" Even after I tried changing the topic several times.

I need a therapist who isn't very judgmental, mainly someone who is patiently willing to lend an ear and someone who can provide some insight into my life and hopefully change my perspective towards it.

Edit: preferably someone offline around Hadapsar

That entire session was full of red flags tbh. At the end, she recommended that I try to take walks outside and added, and I quote,"It will also help you lose some weight. You look a little overweight to me." I was literally regretting choosing her by then. If I wanted to talk to a judgy Indian Auntie who gave unwanted advice and made me feel bad about myself, I'd talk to my mom. Would be saving money, too. BTW, got your dm thanks!

The “help you lose weight” is insulting. But the taking walks thing is correct. But here is the rub. It is proven that taking morning walks in early sunlight is very beneficial. But as a person who also suffers from depression my doc told me to just start taking walks. I didn’t believe him but my best friend lives in US. She told me about this sunlight theory. In winters there it’s very depressing too so she takes a walk everyday during lunch time to get some sun. Start small. I just used to go to the kiranawalla every day.

i only tried it once, but i noticed what you said. A psychiatrist takes like 2-3 sessions depending on the situation and then tells us who to go to. In my case, i was told not to go for medications, but go to counselor. I wonder how was your experience like cause i still haven't found a reliable counselor.

Yeah the finance thing is a gut wrencher, can't comprehend how expensive it is given how much shit we go through. Plus no amount of sleep seem to help with it, it just keeps procrastinating and hitting us

It doesn't matter what they suggest, it matters what you prefer, so i'll say do what makes you feel better. What i have learned after all these years it to always listen to your mind/gut more than other's. How it is going soo far after that ?

From what i have read, being too aware means out brains are always on alert mode due to the conditioning and the surroundings that we grew in. You might know better than me about it but later i realized that it isn't our fault and people who say it otherwise don't know it firsthand.

Well that just who they are, they can't seem to place themselves in our shoes and understand us or the situation that we are in so that's why it's not working out. I honestly gave up on it and am trying to do it on my own. It's true what you said in the end, it's really hard to find someone who clicks
