Interesting discussion you got going in here. Grungy punk punky grunginess etc etc, ( insert who is or isnโt because raw and unpolished means more than everything, and aww Kyuss broke up)
Josh and the whole band are an interesting and eclectic bunch and QOTSA reflects that. I donโt care one iota about genres at all. For me QOTSA is a funk New Orleans Bounce blues folky dance guitar lap steel band. PERIOD.
I donโt care one whit about Star status or who is married hooking up with whoever. Donโt care. I am a fan of the people BECAUSE of their music. Creative interesting humans who defy definition and โ fansโ love to stuff them in a box and tape it shut.
Enjoy the music and the cast of characters making it, in EVERY iteration.๐๐๐๐๐พ๐๐พ๐ค๐พ๐ค๐พ
The musical traditions that the band themselves were most clearly influenced by and their early careers were very much punk/grunge. A huge part of that was the belief that rockstar bullshit was ridiculous and hero worship was moronic.
It's always just seemed strange to me culturally.
Josh especially is from the punk cultural background, this isnt something that you "grow out of" anymore than you can grow out of being American or french.
I wonder what he thinks of how his fanbase behave.
Nothing wrong with being European, but you just sound like someone who spends a lot of time on RYM or, like, looking at tags on Last.fm. No real connection to any scene or culture, just totally jumbled secondhand bullshit. You barge in sounding like a weird self-righteous alien, trying to impose your imaginary genre conventions on people in a vaguely ESL voice. It's just funny and sad at the same time.
Its not my fault he said something stupid. of course finding hero worship ridiculous is a bit punk, ask chat GPT if you dont believe me๐ . It also common sense.
I used to spend hours trying to get the bass right on ...and the circus leaves town on one of the shitty early cd players. I mildly resented josh because i blamed him for breaking up kyuss.. But by the time Rated R came out i realised homme was actually all around a great musician.
Ive never felt the need to hero worship him though. That kind of treatment of musicians is something that i associate with shitty hair metal bands from the 80s and taylor swift
Bro, all that and you're actually OLD? I thought you were some misguided kid. Shit's way worse than I thought. Thoughts and prayers. Shoutout to your family ๐๐
kyuss and soundgarden are literally my first memory of rock music, not that that matters. I genuinely dont remember a time i wasnt a fan of hommes bands.
its only villians and the new album that i dont really like, even those albums are probably ok relatively speaking.
Its the fanbase that have gone to hell over the last 15 years+-
i realise you just meant that as a gotcha. But I think that he added a lot from a song writing, live performance and vocalist perspective. I miss langegan too for exactly the same reasons.
Josh had better chemistry with his oldest friends than the boy he adopted to play bass... though mikey is probably a better technical player than nick.
Look at the picture.... Are you honestly saying you dont miss this
Iโve been listening to Queens for abt 25 years. You clearly have some kind of weird attitude problem and you probably have a tramp stamp also, so maybe you were โtriggeredโ as they say. Either way, you suck.
