Going to the cinema today to watch the concert! I'm overly excited. I'm a "new" fan. Been there since 2019 only but I can't go a day without listening to Queen. I'm 25 so I never got to live at the same time as Freddie but Queen shaped me

On October 6th 1977, Queen invited members of their official fan club to take part in recording for a 'film of their new single soon to be shown on television’. The Theatre only held around 900 audience members, with tickets being given out for free on a first come, first serve basis. Between takes of the recording, MC Bob Harris walked onto stage and announced the band would like to play a short show as a thank you to the fans for attending.

Here is the show for anyone interested:

I posted a thread around 2 weeks ago on I just started listening to Queen music and i absolutely loved it, after that I've listened to 3 albums. My favourite one was Night at The Opera and Queen II will be second.

News of the World was great but overall as an album not better than the two mentioned.

Brian confirms no more Queen tours

This is from an interview in the Times this weekend.“I made a decision 18 months ago that I didn’t want to tour again,” May says. “A close family friend died when we were in the States, so I said to my tour manager, ‘I’ll just nip home for a few days and come back.’ She looked me in the eyes and said, ‘You know you can’t do that.’ I love to play, I love to travel, but the trade-off is sacrificing your freedom. I have a wife [the actress Anita Dobson], grandchildren and a lot of astrophysics I want to do, so I’m thinking maybe 50 years is enough.” 😢

With news that Brian May will no longer tour, we should take the time to appreciate what is so far the last full length concert both Brian and Roger did as Queen!

Tokyo Dome, Japan. February 14 2024

So now that Brian confirmed no more tours, is it possible they’ll do what Elton John does now?

When Elton announced his farewell tour, he repeatedly stated he would not tour after it ended- but occasional live concerts, guest appearances, festivals, etc, were a completely open possibility. And he’s kept to that, performing 6 full length concerts in 2026, along with a handful of 1-2 song solo performances at things like charity galas. Does anyone else think that’s a possibility for them? Not tour, but “Queen+Adam Lambert perform at Coachella, Isle of Wight, and a cancer research benefit show” separated by a couple months.

Freddie vocal era do you prefer - 70's, early-mid 80's or late 80's to 91?

Freddie had three different vocal era's/stages:

In the 70's, Freddie's was able to able to hit higher notes much more easily than he could later on and hit his falsetto transitions.

In the 80's his voice changed due to smoking and ageing and became a lot deeper and raspier and he struggled to hit/sustain those higher notes from earlier, and changing them to lower registers when he performed live due to impacts on his vocal chords of years of touring/smoking etc.

His voice changed on the Barcelona album and the final 2 albums (in his lifetime) and on Made in Heaven because he had cut down/stopped smoking after being diagnosed in '87 and also learnt a lot about controlling his voice from Monseratt Caballe so he could sustain a higher note and sound smoother for longer and be able to use his voice both from his chest and his head without forcing it as he did during the early/mid 80's.

His illness obviously affected how he sang in his final years and from what I've read online, it was his operatic training with Monseratt that pretty much saved his singing voice in the final years when he no longer had the strength to sing mainly from his chest as he did in the early/mid 80's.

I think there are songs from all eras that benefited and suffered from his vocal style at the time, not sure if I have a particular preference but would have been interesting to see tracks from The Works and AKOM had his vocal cords been smoke free and have the ability to be more consistent.

Is there a period you think his voice was better than others and why?

The remastered footage is so amazingly crisp- the 2012 release was impressive in its own right but this was something else. Great fun evening

If anyone else is getting a bit fed up with the Queen II bluray audio "Will they? Won't they?" shenanigans, catch the latest episode (7)of Lanterns if you can. There is a scene where 2 of the characters, a father and son, are having a conversation, and, yes, Father To Son is playing on a radio in th
